AWARENESS: LUDACRIS GIVES AWAY 20 CARS TO PEOPLE IN NEED + VIDEO FROM THE EVENT

September 8th, 2009

Car winner Joya Montgomery, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and Roberta Shields (Luda’s mother) pose for photos at the LudaDay Car Giveaway at Nissan South over the weekend in Atlanta, Georgia.

The rapper/actor gave away 20 cars to needy Atlanta area residents as part of his LudaDay Car giveway, a contest via his Ludacris Foundation which encouraged people to write essays about how they were unable to buy or maintain their vehicles in order to find jobs and get to and from work. Glad to hear this. Hope it gets much publicity; we usually only hear negative things about hip hop artists.

A beautiful thing – Instead of spending the money to by himself another car that he doesn’t need, he used the money to help those in desparate need of transportation.

@ 11, couldnt agree with you more.! Thats a really blessing. Most ppl wouldnt do that in a million years, but most ppl are not like Ludacris. Instead of him spending sooo much money on jewelery(like soulja boy) he did the right thing.

Wow this is amazing Luda your the man. It shows that for once someone put someone else’s needs before his/her own and that shows true character. I’m inspired to do a good deed today… I guess i’ll pay my sister’s car payment so she can use the money toward her books. Keep it going

True, this would only get publicised if he hurt someone. When rappers/black people do something positive it’s not news.

    LUDA!

I saw this “story” on t.v.
I think it’s GREAT that he did this.
Most “celebrities” now a days could care less about others – they just keep buying things for themselves. Although people don’t HAVE to give back it is a really good thing to do and more people should do it.

I plan on helping needy children when I’m a bit older – out of college etc.

Very touching video. Luda was already my boy–he continues to amaze me. He does a lot for his community. People don’t realize that rap music is only one side of a person–its not the whole person and they have many more facets to share with the world.

I know those people are so happy. I wish I could be given a car–no car payments–WHOAH! That is such a blessing.

I think Ludacris stepped up and did the right thing and many other artist need to do the same instead of rapping and singing about what they got why dont they give more instead of just doing the regular “Im going to donate to this charity” and its never seen. I can appreciate an artist that knows how times are hard right now and acknowledge the ones who need the help. Big props to Luda for helping people stay on their feet and motivating them to keep on moving.

20 scholarships would have been nice. think about it; black people giving each other cars… black people helping each other educate themselves. i think one sounds better.
