I wish the song complimented his voice more. I think that a ballad would’ve been a better look for him. He’s talented though I’m not gonna lie.
It’s OK. He’s obviously a great singer but i think he’s doing too much, vocals are a bit too aggressive at times… like he’s tryna prove sumthin. LOL, and I’m like…”take it easy there brother, we KNOW u got the chops…just sing it to us, don’t scream it to us!”
Plus I hear some harmony issues in the hook, note-wise>>> “…any-THING” part.
Wish him well tho, seems like he’s a true ARTIST.

He’s very talented. I remember seeing Alicia in concert and he overshadowed her on Diary. I’ll support the brother but he needs to calm down and come with better material. This is a bit over the top.
#4 You must be in the business, cause you called it right. At any rate, it’s refreshing to finally see new R&B talent. Real talent. But, sometimes when an artist gets to comfortable singing background, its hard to make the transition to lead. Luther and Anthony Hamilton are prime examples of artist who made it.

some of y’all killing me with that oversinging nonsense. so many current R&B singers have tainted the genre with weak vocals, wimpy pop melodies and lame arrangements, to the point where people don’t appreciate a big, expressive, soulful vocalist. this may not be the best material, but at least he’s singing, and the vocals make the song better (i feel). i’ll clap for that all day.

He has a real soulful voice and I think his album will be some good grown R&B.

Not sure what people are talking about i am an R&B fanatic and i think his voice is absolutely gorgeous. Loved his ass on DIARY he overshadowed AKeys flat ass voice lol. I agree with somebody else said artists aren’t required to sing anymore ummm Rihanna you can just have a winy ass voice and make it. I love people who can actually sing like this guy, Anthony Hamilton, Maxwell, Trey Songz etc…those with vocals

I know remember the 90s when they used to SANG. Blackstreet, boyz ll men, Dru Hill ect. They all used to sing with aggression. Ppl except foolery like The Dream, Jeramiah whatever is name is. They can’t even sing.

I think Jermaine’s vocals are absolutely amazing on this track. For everyone that says he’s pushing too hard vocally, I think that’s just what the industry needs. So many people in the business are barely even singing so how are we going to criticize a man with true talent? I’m LOVING this single and I think he’s definitely one of the most talented artists out there right now. Keep doin your thing JP!!!

Compared to what he’s really capable of, the song was just aight. I’ve heard him sing live and he’s great. However, if this is what we have to look forward to as his sound being a solo artist, he can stay with Alicia Keys and tour with her as a background vocalist. This is usually the case though. The bomb singer who is loved and known underground as a great talent… finally gets a deal and the music doesn’t display the singers true vocal ability. As a result, the artist doesn’t get their proper respect in the industry and don’t sell records. Examples are Lil’ Mo, Kelly Price, Jaguar Wright, Melanie Daniels and the list goes on. Another one bites the dust.
Although I really did enjoy the track, I would have to say that I expected a little more. I took particular notice of him during Alicia Key’s Unplugged and thoroughly enjoyed his vocals. It gave me an idea of how dynamic he is as well as his sound differing from the average R&B male vocal heard from day to day radio. I would suggest him singing over live instrumentation although I honestly do think he did a very good job with it. Would just love to hear him at his best on a solo project. I really believe Jermaine may have what it takes to be a successful recording artist. Hopefully who ever is backing him will take his suggestions as to the direction of his sound and be willing to support that decision financially.
I always said if he ever came out on a solo project I would be ALL FOR IT!! He KILLED the backgrounds for “Diary” definitely made me fall for the song! This song is nice, can’t wait for him to really let loose on a track(lookin for that tingly feelin again lol). I’ll def be clearing a spot for him in the ipod!
