i just wish she would use her powerful voice again. all the high notes get annoying and that pseudo sensual voice is done for. i just want her to take it back to the vision of love days when she had semi soul. i miss the “umph” in her voice for lack of a better word.

I agree with the others. H.A.T.E.U is just okay. I expected more out of the song, and she did compare the song to Minnie’s Loving You, but I didn’t hear any similarities. Perhaps I should listen to the song again.
By the way, I think Brian should’ve poted at least 3 more songs. The Impossible, Betcha Didn’t Know, and Up Out Of My Face are FIRE. Those three should’ve been posted, instead of H.A.T.E.U.
MOAIA is by far one of Mariah’s best albums. She didn’t let us down on this one. The albums leaves E=MC Squared in the dust.

I loved it,,, I never comment on these blogs but this track is definetly whats hot… Rarely do you hear songs nowadays that have this kinda power to match the listeners emotions so perfectly. From the strong and relatable lyrics,, to the melodies and mood this sick beat puts you in… It definetly brought tears to my eyes because im going through this situation in my life right now (my first true love and breakup), and this song is tellin my story man,, lol. Without getting too mushy im glad i have a song to kinda help me through and assure me that everyone goes through the same process ,,varying from person to person of couse,, but the initial feelings and withdrawls of a breakup im sure we can all agree The Dream and Mariah tapped into with ease, Good job mimi,,, No im not a critic or record exec, just a true music lover…
This is song is hot and MARIAH CO-WROTE THE WHOLE ALBUM, the songs weren’t handed to her, you can hear how much the lyrics have changed from the demo which is nowhere near this level. Should’ve posted Ribbon and Standing O as well though.

well. the lyrics in her version are heads & shoulders above what “The-Dream” demo’d. i’m glad she rewrote them. song’s pretty damn hot. the production is stripped down enough to let Mimi do her thing. nicely done.
now if people are still holding out for Mariah from 1990…g’head….y’all can head home. it ain’t happening…..even if she rests her vocals for a year straight. she has a new texture now….if you can’t get with it, then keep it moving. calling for her old sound every time she releases an album won’t bring it back. there are more fish in the sea….go get u one.
as for the Minnie Ripperton ‘tribute’: it’s kinda hard to miss. at the end of the chorus when she says “i can’t wait to hate you…..” she follows it up with a “ah-ah ah-ah-ah ah-ah-ah” which is similar to the melody high part/whistle that comes after the chorus in “Loving You”.
i guess people thought the song would have more of Minnie’s influence, but that’s the only bit i picked up.
newayz….Mariah has delivered a very solid album. while you have the few that are just not gonna give her her props b/c she doesn’t sound like she did when they were 3…..everybody else knows the deal. she brought it.
