sounds like i’ve heard that beat before. sounds like he can spit though, so i’ll head to his myspace and check out some more music. it’s hard to judge someone based off of one song.

  2. artloverone

Something told me that he was related to Jay-Z before I even began to scroll down!

  3. emily

omfg. they look alike a lot!!
    wow……..

  4. TJACK25

Why does everyone feel the need to say they grew up rough? He couldn’t have stayed in Marcy too long… He’s only 21. By the time he was 9 his uncle blew up tremendoulsy.

The track is aight…. It has that NY vibe written all on it

  5. ☆Lola A♏ ★

    not my cup of tea

  6. Meat

There must be lots of inbreeding in Brooklyn where deleterious genes are more likely to be expressed.!

  7. Tasha

NY all day…not bad, but I wanna hear more before I say I like him or not.

  8. dar

i too had a feeling that he was related to Jay before i scrolled on down. they do look similar. anyway, that song was surprisingly hot. he appears to be following in his uncle’s footsteps with that soulful-yet-rugged hip-hop. i wanna check out some more from him.

the boy is cute…. love that he’s tall… not 100% feelin’ the music…. it’s cool though!!!… wouldn’t rush to buy the album….yet……until i hear some hotter tracks

  11. Been Prissy Since1908

Already dont like or respect him! he should have dropped the last name Carter and tried to build his own career and image instead of trying 2 ride Uncle J’s coat-tail.

  12. Mutada al sader the king

Ok wait. If Jay-z has been rich since 1996. And this dude is 21…How the fuck did he grow up in a small apartment in the projects? Not to mention that evertime Jay is asked about having kids, he mentions his nephews who he “raised”.

Either this guys PR is full of shit or Brian is pulling shit out of his ass again. SMH

  13. s. dot

He can rap. Needs a catchy hook for me.. Maybe because I’m not a true hip hop fan. I’m so R&B its ridiculous. lol

  14. dafinestgrl

“HE’S ALRIGHT BUT HE’S NOT REAL JAY-Z DAT DEAL”………..LOL….I’M J/P HE’S COOL I’M FEELIN IT HE GOT A FLOW THAT I’M FEELIN N HE’S KINDA CUTE! I CAN GET INTO HIS MUSIC…I WUNNA HEAR MORE!

  15. facebook.com/spectrumstv

Rock on lil’ protege’. I’m glad Jay didn’t try to just hand him the hip hop crown just cause. He’s working for it, like he should and I’m sure he’s not hurting for money. At least this way he’ll appreciate his fame, if he gets it and he’ll be respected as a true MC for the hustle.

    Peace,

    Aaliyah M.

  16. MOI

Umm… do you mean his secret SON, not nephew?! LOL! Just kidding…not trying to start rumors, but d@mn, they look just alike!!

  17. GOOD GRIEF

I immediately knew who he was soon as I saw his picture.

The nose & the lips gave it away :) (lol)!

  18. efuhk

    @12

he used to be Young Mel. I guess his PR people changed it

  19. SmythnWesson

he’s getting way aHEAD of himself
he need to go HEAD with that
he just may be HEADed in the right direction
    go HEAD .. go HEAD

oh my badd … I didnt even listen to the song cause that HEAD was in the way
I see it runs in the family
would hate to see what the women look like ..
ok ok ok .. that wasnt nice … lol

  20. GOOD GRIEF

    @# 21,

I (unfortunatey) have an extremely large head,
and as a person who is also a HEAD of her time
I did not appreciate the head jokes………AT ALL (lol)!

    Not cool man…………..soOo not cool!

  21. Venom (www.mamasmule.com)

The beat is HUGE!!! But homeboy’s just ok… Kinda reminds of me of Beanie Sigel’s “Ready For War”

  22. safari

Jay should go and have some own kids. Hova is a bit suspect to me!! He should have dropped the BLueprint 3 and Beyonce on the same day.Lmao

  23. Zahmommy08

i love the song……mel is my dude niggas is just hatin just to be hatin……all the jokes r jealousy because they cant b him….mel worked hard for all his accomplishments……keep doing ya thing and keep the haters hatin

  24. DEAD @ MEat #6. Lmao.

    The track is pretty good.

  25. Lanice

The song is all right and the lyrics are cool. The beat definitely came from “Sweet” off of Jay’s American Gangster album. He sounds like he could have a career in hip-hop. It must be tough to live up to his uncle’s legacy.

  26. Jo

He sounds like a Jay Z wanna be? It would be better if he has his own unique sound.

  27. southern sway

I like it I would like to hear more from him tho but so far so good waaaayyyy better then most of the rap music out today……..so i wll def be on the look out for him.

  28. hellifiknow

If Jay-Z were my uncle, I’d be trying to get him to pay for my college education instead of trying to follow in his footsteps…which would be a reach for anyone trying to rhyme…

    But that’s just me….

  29. jen

    @31

I agree, when you have someone like Jay-Z in your family it’s going to be hard to be accepted because you will always be compared…and no matter how good you are you’ll never be good enough because of your family.I too would have him pay for my education or at least try to start my own company and have him invest, work for him or something other than doing what he’s doing.

  30. chrissy

I’m feeling it. It’s better than niggas singing on the track. Brooklyn we go hard.

  31. kalahaluvjayz

love this song and i love him!!!! learned from the best! LOVE U YOUNG MEL!

  32. natalie

OMG he looks just like his uncle……crazy

  33. Sali

I wonder if Jayz is going to start dragging him around like Beyonce drags Solange around with her. Good Luck though! He may look like his uncle, but he is WAY cuter.

  34. ´¨`•*•.¸♥•.¸♥¸Deirdre B Pride¸♥•.¸♥¸•*•´

Before I even read who he is I was thinkin, he looks a lil like Jay Z.
