Here is a grainy version of Kanye West covering popular French Magazine “Libération Next”. The magazine has dubbed the international star ‘Nouveau roi de la pop’ (The New King of Pop).
A couple of months ago the internet went wild with rumors that West had claimed the title after Micheal Jackson’s tragic death, but he recently shot down those rumors in his blog saying:
I WAS JUST LISTENING TO WENDY WILLIAMS AND HEARD SOME QUOTE ABOUT ME SAYING I’M THE NEW KING OF POP. NOT ONLY DID I NOT SAY THAT, I HAVEN’T SAID ANYTHING. IT MAKES ME FEEL BAD THAT OBVIOUSLY I MADE PEOPLE FEEL THAT I WOULD BE CORNY ENOUGH TO SAY SOMETHING SO WHACK AFTER THE PASSING OF AN IDOL, A LEGEND AND MORE THAN THAT A HUMAN BEING WITH FEELINGS AND FAMILY. IT SCARES ME TO THINK WHAT PEOPLE WILL BELIEVE, WITHOUT EVEN A SOURCE. ANY RANDOM PERSON CAN TYPE SOMETHING ON THE INTERNET AND THEN THE WORLD BELIEVES IT. I DON’T TALK TO PRESS OR DO TV OR DO PROMOTIONS OF ANY SORT. I’VE STOPPED CHASING AND BUYING INTO FAME. FAME IS LIKE CIGARETTES WITH NO SURGEON GENERAL WARNING. IT DESTROYS MOST PEOPLE AS IT DID TO THE TRUE AND ONLY KING OF POP. WE EXPLOIT OURSELVES AND EAT OUR OWN EGOS ‘TILL THERE IS NOTHING LEFT. I HAVE A FEELING THAT THIS WON’T BE THE LAST FALSE STATEMENT WITH MY NAME ON IT, BUT THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME I DEFEND MYSELF. I’M DONE.

I’ve never liked Kanye- his ego always got in the way for me. I do like his statement though and I beleive him that he never said he was the next king of pop. That would be too much, even for Kanye standards. The magazine need to get their ish together. NO ONE will be the “next king of pop”. MJ took it to the grave with him. too bad, so sad.

What he said was true however. Ignorant fools believe the CRAP that CERTAIN people (MTO) say and run with it. It only shows how small your brain is and how pathetic their credibility is. (sigh) when I first heard Kanye (supposedly) made this statement, I immediately said to myself, I do not believe this (even with his past statements) I just used common freakin sense. I guess it doesnt exist nowadays because 95.5% of people will believe whatever is reported, (like brain-washing in a sense)
anyway, if I were in his shoes I wouldn’t defend myself anymore either because WHY? when people still dont believe you..so why even address it.
A celebs life suck!!! They have to constantly defend themselves (on/off stage, what’s the payoff for it more money in their pockets. doesnt seem a fair price to pay for a peace of mind IMO) and nowadays there is no such thing as separating the artist from the person… it all co-exist together….I miss the old days, when all I knew about my favorite groups is they’re favorite color, as stated in Right On Magazine lol!!!
