@ 2. Travel the world and you will see that black people are everywhere with different last names. Are people still this ignorant? Not to mention, both Sosa and Lopez were featured in the highest selling issue of Vogue Italia “THE BLACK ISSUE”.. Do your research.

Get it ladies!

***blush around the eyes doesn’t look so hot. More like you got punched in the face or something. But hey… its fashion

Jourdan has a horrible hairline.
The wink thing is a little weird but the picture is nice.

the vid was cute! i was so happy when i saw this cover a while back. these girls are gorgeous (even without the makeup) and we definitely need more dark-skinned models.

@2 well they have hispanic names because they are black hispanics. even though society sort of treats the terms “hispanic” and “latino/latina” as races, they technically aren’t. hispanics come in all races and both sessilee and arlenis happen to be black

Sorry, but redbones have it on lock until further notice.

@12 actually when it comes to modeling, the most well-known and the highest paid black models are dark-skinned and i don’t know if you noticed but this is a fashion post

I don’t know that I would have chosen the wink as the cover shot, but a good look seeing sistas on the cover nonetheless.

Friday, September 4, 2009 /

@12

The only thing red bones have on lock are video hoes (no offense but it’s true). I’m sorry love, but I don’t need to turn to a degrading video about bs to validate the beauty of a brown skin-dark skin sista. Go read a book.

Anyways,

All the ladies look lovely. They are in all shades and are all beautiful. Good look.

Who says you gotta be light-skinned and have long hair to be attractive? That’s a total myth.

Not many straight men of any race or color would turn any of these beauties down. I sure wouldn’t!

WOW seeing stuff like this really makes motivates me to gun harder for a modeling career! ALL 3 ladies look completely flawless and they show the epitome of the black girl who works hard everyday at what they do and sees success at the end of the day…VERY proud of all 4! And Jourdan Dunn holds off her baby weight VERY well…she is expecting her first child in December, just gorgeous!

Im jelous, I should be on the mag too.

#2, I get where your coming from. Your talking about black people who speak english not spanish and eat fried chicken, greens, water melon and cornbread with cool aid, amongst other things. theres a difference.

And #12, may have been joking about the comment he or she made just to get people fired up. but the sad reality is that there are some dummys who actually do think so ignorantly. Thats y im dating white men for now on cause black boys are ashamed of there own skin.

27.

On my way to Turkey next month.

Friday, September 4, 2009 /

You can tell that there are people on this blog who never travel beyond the confines of the United States. People please, get a passport and see the world. I have met Black people from all over the globe with all types of names, even some in Jamaica with Chinese names. Not all Black people have Anglicized names. Millions of Blacks in Angola have Portuguese names as a result of colonization.

#27, shut up. Like I said b4 there is a difference in culture and language when you talking about black people from different countries. just because there skin is dark u consider them black. but i bet if they started speaking in there language to you, you wouldnt even understand what they were talking about. Any body can be black in your eyes all they need is a tan.

These comments are hilarious black people are always the first to tear each other down.

Obviously the other two girls are black, they are just not black American…I think people are using their definition of what is black and applying it to others which is incorrect.

@ 30 how are these women “bald headed” their hear is slick back for the photo shoot

Anyways they all look beautiful.

#2 is just the dumbest thing i’ve ever heard. how the F do someone sound blk? Wow…every blk person do not speak ghetto and bad, you do know that right? Those girls have something called an accent. Blk people always amazes me with their ignorance.

Friday, September 4, 2009 /

what is going on here?

i find it sad that at the same time people are happy that black girls got the cover, people are still fighting about “dark-skinned” vs” light-skinned” crap.

SAD INDEED

43.

SoulPhlower

In terms of the last name…. had to chime in. There are plenty of West Indian, Jamaican, Belizian ect. people with Latin last names. Just like there are people who are Creole or from Louisiana with french last names. Also lot’s of mixed people who have married into another culture take the name of their husbands who can be of any race and the kids are still considered black.

44.

LOL its amazing how ppL automatically think that bc a person is black they are not considered latino, or AFRO-Latino at that, lopez and Sosa are amongst the most talented young hispanic models, get your facts right ppl!

to the person who said two of them dont sound black…is there a specific way black people are meant to speak?

…they look gorgeous..they’re skinny but it suits them because they dont look bony ..

InnocentCorruption203

Friday, September 4, 2009 /

On a positive note, they all look beautiful! I seen this pic and saved it I think it was 2 weeks ago. The look is great, I love love love Chanel Iman , and I wish Jourdan the best of luck with her pregnancy.

Now…………I can’t believe that black models are being wasted on the cover of I.D. and Rihanna is on the cover of Vogue………………..Tyra or somebody PLEASE STAND UP for black models. Yes, its great to see ANY black women on the cover of Vogue but damn can we get some higher standards and give the women who model for a LIVING the cover. Its bad enough that black models are far and few but to choose a singer over an actual model is an insult. Yes young people, Rihanna looks great on the cover and her pics were very creative (so dont even start with the “hateing” comments) but maybe the focus should be on models and fashion NOT celebrities.

OMGGGG!!!!! In the words of Rachel Zoe ” I die”.

I’ve seen the cover of the magazine like weeks agoooooo but Im glad CL finally featured it.

I absolutely love all these girls. All of them are just beyond beautiful and fabulous and they for damn sure deserved this cover. I love to see black women making it in environments that are down right rough.

Im really happy to see this and I will pick up this magazine if I can just freakin’ find it. Gotta support you know.

They look amazing!! Loving the natural look which is coming about!!

The light skin vs dark skin argument always makes me laugh!! Im dark skin and know my worth too much to be arguing with the likes of stupid ppl with an agenda and im sure all the other decent light skin and dark skin bloggers will do the same

The wink is to denote the Eye of Horus. That is why the title of the magazine is i -D. It is symbology for the winking, or one eye.

I agree with the comments about getting out of your comfort zone and seeing the world for crying out loud. The light-skinned, dark-skinned debate will continue as long as people hold onto ignorant mindsets. Being attractive has nothing to do with skin color, but features. Anyway, these ladies look fabulous!

gotta’ love the recognization they’re getting now. in small quantities, but atleast they’re getting well deserved shine.

it almost amazes me how ignorant some can be. despite they are of different nationality - they’re still considered black……

if you date anyone outside of your race you do NOT need to justify it with a b.s reasoning. it always disturbs me.

Friday, September 4, 2009 /

It’s funny most people know Chanel and she’s the least successful of the four at the moment. I guess she’s going for that red carpet celebrity over high fashion modeling success.

All of the girls self-identify as black, so that’s all that really matters. Sessilee is half afro-hispanic and half African American. Chanel is half Korean, half African American. Doesn’t make any of them less black.

Anyways, my favorite of the bunch is Arlenis Sosa. She’s about to be more major than she already is.

69.

InnocentCorruption203

@59 If you think Vogue has nothing to do with black models than you must be SLOWWWWWWWWW, my point was all this talent should be on a HIGHER forum than I.D. I brought up Rihanna because shes the last black person I have seen on Vogue so far and I acknowledged that her pics looked good. So before you comment on MY comment I suggest you read it, smarta$$.

this is a gorgeous cover. and umm there are black people from spanish countries i mean helllooo some of you need to travel….everyone black isn’t from america i am black and none of my family is from america they are all from south america and the caribbean does that make me less black? also if you did your research you would know that the other ALL these models are highly popular not just chanel iman…some of you commenting should stick to your celeb gossip fashion is not your fortay.

As a young BLACK CUBAN woman….I find it sad that grown people can be so damn ignorant in this day and age….

I’m sooo damn tired of people looking and acting soooo shocked when they see black Hispanics….growing up for me in Brooklyn it was nothing out of the ordinary b/c I went to school with other young boys and girls like myself….but as I get older and venture out people always react to me like I’m some other species when they find out my last name or ear me speak Spanish and it pisses me off!!!…

Cuba is way more thean 50% black and the rest is classified as mezcla or white….ughhhh open a damn history book folks!!

Anway all of these women are beautiful!!!

72.

HMMM.

Friday, September 4, 2009 /

why are we still comparing brown women it is a photo shoot why put it down why bring up singers they have nothing 2 do with any thing and please sum 1 tell desire or lets just ignore that WHITE PERSON cos i know they r white trying to make black people look that dumb black people didn’t even speak English first we so shhhh we are brown no matter wat country we are from anyway….. i love this they are all beautiful they look lyk normal brown girls u see everyday i am sick of only seeing white models on run way and really dark models with no hair we come in different colours and we DO HAVE HAIR why only have them as main stream. kmt miss iman i love her so much and i am proud that they all seem 2 be focus on being succesful
