Winner of UK singing competition The X Factor ‘08, Alexandra Burke’s new video was recently released. The track, entitled “Bad Boys” features rapper Flo Rida and is the lead single for her upcoming album.
Burke signed a $3.5 million deal with Epic US back in March and her debut album is expected to hit stores in the U.K. in October. No word on a U.S. release date yet.

I really like her, she’s got so much energy and attidue compared to most xfactor winners. She is interesting, goodlooking, good at dancing and she can sing. Well done girl!

CONCERNS: Alex clearly has the talent to make here in the U.S., but the foundation isn’t being built up.
Simon had Leona featured on Oprah even before she ever came to the U.S.
He also promoted her as “the next Mariah Carey,” which created a lot of buzz. On top of that, Simon has Clive Davis who’s part of Leona Lewis’ American leg as another push.
Leona had 3 giants in her corner (Simon – American Idol, Clive, Oprah) before she came to the U.S. This doesn’t count the popular U.S. blogs and her online campaign.
By the time Leona came out, half of my old co-workers knew her from Oprah or American idols, most of my “Lambs” friends hated her because she was a Mariah Carey threat. Remember Mariah had the E=MC2 promotion, and even made her off-comments like “I dont’ know who this Leona girl is…” Leona had super buzz….AND ALEX DOES NOT.
Love Alex and these are the positives!
Alex has support from U.S. artists like Beyonce Knowles, and although Bee can be very self-imposed, she loves Alex, and I can truly see her supporting Alex openly.
Even though Bad Boys is a catchy pop song, if she’s marketed like Rihanna “Pon De Replay” she wouldn’t have to deal with the race-based concerns of a black girl singing pop music..She’ll be seen as British artist.
Alex CAN dance…and besides Beyonce and Ciara, very few can move, but Alex can really sing. Not counting she channels Toni Braxton a bit, and from the video, she has body and sex appeal like Toni.
With the right styling (hair, skin, makeup), she’d be a force to contend with…and she’ll rep for the CHOCOLATE GIRLS OF 2010 like Kelly Rowland.

Alex i luv u & realise u dont have much creative control yet. But this is utter rubbish! I dont undastand how the white soul uk acts get decent tunes & u get this??! Her stylin was better on x factor. Also, they need 2 Stop tryna americanise the poor child! Hopefully the album is better.
I think her voice is to strong for this bubblegum crap. She needs to go the Jazmine Sullivan route. Why isn’t she with Missy or somebody who can bring out her powerful R&B chops?
I love Alex and im really hoping that she does well. I agree with “Sparkd” she isnt being pushed as much as Leona, but I think that may work in her favor. Sometimes when an artist is rammed down your throat too much, you can get annoyed with them. I like the video better than the song, I think the song is a slow burner.
I was shocked at her dancing, didnt know she could move like that, they should try to get her to dance more. Thats one aspect she has over Leona.
I hate the Leona/Alexandra comparisons, there both very good, but clearly different in there styles, which is a good thing. I for one don’t want to see two Leona’s or two Alexandras. I think that its also a good look that she’s signed a six figure deal with Dolce and Gabanna, hopefully they can help her with her styling, as that still needs work, especially the hair. Even though Leona got a #1 here in America, she’s not a big star here, and everything else has been lackluster.
Alex could be a surprise, and I’d love to see her work with Missy or do a Jazmine Sullivan song (Mr. Famu is right!).
I still think Bad Boys can be a “Pon De Replay” dance hit here..But if she does a Deborah Cox “Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here” song or a R&B Dance hit, she’s be fire!!!
I love Alex and will support her, but Simon needs to do better for her. First off these pop tunes aren’t going to cut it. Alex has an amazing voice and while this song shows us a little bit, it’s not fully showing us what she’s capable of. I know it’s only her first song, but she definately could have came harder.
When Alex releases in the US next year I hope Simon gives her as much support as he did Leona and please better songs. I hope her album is fire!
Alex will reach number one without a doubt here all the X factor Stars do! WE don’t have a an Artist like her in the uk so hopefully she will bring it and this is just the tip of the iceberg!
Lets hope the album is fun packed with everything needed to launch her worldwide
