Amerie debuted the video for second single, “Heard ‘Em All” from her upcoming fourth studio album, In Love & War on BET’s 106 & Park this evening.
The video was directed for Anthony Mandler, who was also responsible for Jay-Z’s “Run This Town” video, as well as Rihanna’s video for “Disturbia.” Amerie’s new album is set to hit stores November 3rd, via Def Jam Records.

I love Amerie & I love this video. Ofcourse its gonna look similar to Rihanna’s Disturbia or other videos but thats because its the same director, Anthony Mandler. You just need to get into the actual story and concept of it to get it. Its sad that people on here are so negative though when it comes to how they feel about her or the video. An opinion is an opinion but theres no need to be disrespectful, just say you dont like it. Also I’m rooting for her this go around, she deserves it & she works too hard to be slept on. The song is so whack (it sounds like a song, that a person that CAN’T sing would sing), and the video is not all that. From that clip I saw the other day, the video looked like it was going to be hot. NOT! I’m still rooting for you Amerie. The only hot thing, was her jacket and her “look”.

The video is ok, the song really has to grow on me though. It kinda has that “Touch,” feel to it- you know that single she had in 2005 that made her album fade after her hugely successful “1 Thing.” What is up with artists not picking the right songs as singles these days? It is very simple, pick the right first single that will garner good airplay, and there will be no need for pushbacks. Maybe when artists get ready to release new albums, they should post like 30 second clips of about 5 new songs on their myspace or whatever, and have the fans take a poll to see which one we like the most, then that will give them a head start. There was a song leaked on the net back in May from Amerie called “Tell Me You Love Me,” which sounded amazing and should have been the lead. It is a lot similar to “1 Thing,” but that is ok, it works for her. No other artist uses that Washington DC GoGo sound, so that could have been her signature. Oh, I just don’t know………..

This is not a great song but catchy and probably sounds better in a club. I actually have grown to like Amerie over the years; even though she is not the best vocalist, the lyrics and production are pretty solid.
As far as this video, this is okay. Her dancing is off in every scene compared to the group of “trained” dancers. I know she is not a dancer but her efforts were not 100% par considering the type of video this should/could of been. I would think at this stage of her career she would put forth better effort. Its due to these inconsistencies and not the music or her vocals in itself that prevent Amerie from being bigger. At the bare minimum she should be a stronger performer/entertainer….this video does not do it. She is pretty, the outfits are always edgy, the video is good its the performance that kills it.
I’ll stick check out the album but would probably never see a live show. BTW, “Why R U” is better to me than this single…
