I loved the Whitney interview. How can you guys say she was using before she met Bobby. How the hell do you know? Speak on some facts. Those are accusations. AND she is taking blame for using drugs. She said a bad marriage, and living as a Icon drove her to drugs. What do you guys want her to say. She used drugs because she wanted to and it’s cute? No. People use drugs to cover up issues and that’s what she did and that’s what she said.
I really feel that when they make a movie about Whitney Houston Life Derek Luke from Antwone Fisher & Notorious need to play Bobby Brown and Demetria Mckinney from Tyler Perry House of Payne need to play Whitney I think they both would do a great Job! What do you all think???

Whitney looks amazing! I am so happy and proud for her. She needs and deserves a second chance as we all do to make it right and get back on track. I love her spirituality. Only God can bring us out and back from the brink. I am so very happy for her. I pray her career is more amazing than ever before!
MS. AKA & NUBIANGODDEZ, exactly what interview did you watch? Whitney totally owned the fact that she did drugs. She said nothing about doing drugs because of Bobby or blamed him for her drug use. She was very candid about her life with Bobby. She spoke about blatant things he did to her, things they did to each other and what she said does not equate to “blame” as you say, of him. If you are going to critique someone, make certain you know what you are talking about. Folks all over the country are in court everyday for this very thing. Opinions are fine and everybody has one. But when Opinions marry Speculations, they become LIES. It was very courageous for her to do what she did with Oprah. If all you can do if try to tear folks down with blatantly vile commentary, then just find you a spot and sit still. God is our only judge.
I can truly appreciate Whitney’s candidness… She did an amazing job! Oprah did an amazing job! The song was wonderful – I didnt’ know my own strength.

I enjoyed the interview portions at that theater; she was very open, honest, and forthcoming. I did laugh a bit when Newark Whitney came out on the second part after her performance LOL but I’m just happy for her. She sounded good and she’s clearly in a new space.

love whitney and i hope she does well and gets better and better with each passing year.. it takes a lot to stay off drugs.. a real strength and determination. i haven’t been on drugs myself but some of y’all should try to remember that when u go to bash her.
regardless if u think she was on it before bobby or if u think she didnt own up to doing drugs(which i believe she did), praise God she didnt have to nearly die to realize she needed to make a change in her life. So many people pass away without ever getting that chance to turn over a new leaf and once they’re gone, THAT’S IT.

The way that Oprah framed the questions to Whitney,made it look like that they were trying to put it all on Bobby,I have never been a Bobby Brown fan but it`s unfair to blame him for everything,he did`nt hold a gun to Whitney`s head and force her to take crack.
Whitney is no saint.She`s more ghetto than Bobby.She did`nt come across as being very educated at all,at one point during the interview she told Oprah,that she did`nt even know what the word icon meant,well,how about picking up a dictionary and looking it up,like educated people do,this whole interveiw was manipulated by Oprah who put words in Whitney`s mouth

Only God Can bring you through? What about those who dealt with even heavier addictions who made it through and don’t believe in any God. Please explain that for me. Look I believe In God, don’t get me wrong. I’m just saying just because someone makes it out adversities doesn’t neccessarily it because of divine intervention and I personally question if Whitney’s recovery is from God. Nonetheless I’m very happy that she got herself together. But hey that’s my opinion and I respect yours.
CRACK is a helluva drug ! the neurological damage that crack has done to Whitney`s nerves and the muscles in her face and jaw,which is causing Whitney`s words to be slurred and has changed her singing voice is straight up scary.And she was talking so fast which is the damage that crack has done to her nervous system,she is so high strung and unable to calm down and the crack has also damaged her brain,her responses and answers and reactions to Oprah`s questions were irrational which is a sign of mental illness,eveytime she struggled to explain herself,Oprah would jump in and finish Whitney`s rambling and irrational thought

I see that Oprah is at again,all these years and she still hates black men.This wasn`t a Whitney Houston interview,this was a Oprah Winfrey interview.She guided and coached Whitney and Oprah did what she has done for years,which is blame Bobby and black males and rappers for all the ills of society.Oh,and I guess it was a black man who stood up and disrespectfully yelled YOU LIE, to President Obama,the other night.Oprah never attacks or criticizes white people,just black males.Every sunday she gets together with all of her Color Purple friends,Whoopi Goldberg,Alice Walker and Rae Dawn Chong and they talk about how some black man did them wrong.

I cant speak on addiction because I have never had that problem. But there is a show that comes on A & E called intervention and you would be surprised the reason people start on these roads of drug, alchol or food addictions. There is always something bigger behind the addiction. There is always a underlying reason for it.
I loved the interview and it touched those it was suppose to reach. If you didnt like it then it wasnt meant for you and thats ok. We beat down our celebrites but honestly if we take a look around and in the mirror we are not perfect either. They are like me and you no different and not extempt from going through the trails of life. And because they are in the public we feel we have the right to speak on it.
And as far as Wendy williams she has been trying to get Whitney on her show since it premired I am sure she wasnt happy with the interview and Whintey does not have to do anything to the liking fo Wendy Williams who is she?
The only person I feel sorry for is Bobbi Christina who had to be raised by two selfish people. Poor girl is going to grow up with issues. No matter what happened she witnessed two drug addicts having crackalicious, base head fights, disrespect and just plain abuse. I hope she’s in therapy!!! Never in the interview did she say Bobby forced her, stop taking making your own interpation of her words. She said the pain she had from being unhappy contributed to her use of drugs she never said I did drugs because of Bobby. Addiction is not about what you are consuming but rather why is that you are consuming whaterver you are addicted too. People addicted to food, dont throw up all the food they ate because they just like food its something bigger a mental state of being.

Maybe Bobby said “I” used a lot of drugs, because that was the case. Maybe Whitney was doing it as much as Bobby. It’s like people are so desperate to make Whitney’s situation out to be more than what it is. She owned up and even admitted to still having urges for drugs.
@ #27: I think Whitney’s concern for how BB would feel about what she revealed showed just how selfless she is; how she’s considering the image of her daughter’s father, etc. If you can get past the judgement, maybe you would have seen that.
I’m so happy for Whitney, and I praise God for His power to resurrect lives from the brink of death and restore them to wholeness. About the individual who said its her lack of education that caused her to turn to drugs, I say negative. Wendy Williams is a college educated woman, that did not prevent her from making bad decisions and turning to the life of drugs so its a bit presumptuous to assume that education will automatically prevent you from making stupid decisions. She said that she didn’t understand what “icon” meant at the time that “she became one,” which was in her late teens/early twenties. And by “understand,” I think she means fully grasped what the word meant.
Aside from Marilyn and Elvis, no one was a true “icon” until Whitney and Michael came along in the late eighties/early nineties. She probably thought she was just going to be a “star” like her aunt, Dionne, and not the “icon” that she became.
And she’s highly intelligent and very quick witted (she has a well thought out and rapid response for almost anything) if you’ve ever seen her interviews (from the past and even today). She was a social charmer when she first came out. Don’t act like intelligent people don’t make bad decisions. Typically, the more intelligent, the more crazy you are, because you think you can get away with anything.

It wasn’t like your typical interview, it was more like to girlfriends having a heart to heart. That’s why Whitney said she only would do an exclusive with her. So what more needs to be said? Now she can move on and focus on her music and living a peaceful drug-free life with her family.

And i’ve noticed with recovering drug or alcohol addicts that sometimes they get a little nervous because it’s painful to talk about shit like that. Obviously, they gone have the urge for some drugs. We can’t expect Whitney to come back full-fledged like she was. It takes time because it’s a process. Hypothetically, if someone overweight eats like 20,000 calories a day, we can’t expect them to come down to 1,200 overnight. Things take time. My mom is a recovering alcoholic, has been clean almost 6 years. I noticed at first when I was 13 that she still had urges and she told me the urge to drink is so bad, she can’t do anything but cry. That’s probably what Whitney was feeling but being on national tv and a STAR.. She can’t do that. Even though I was wondering when Whitney was coming back, I’m grateful that she did. I love you Whitney, fuck all the haters.. I wish you the best of luck, right now and for the rest of your life. With time, it should get better. Amazing. I saw her live in Tobago last year and well her voice has improved. I was very very surprised by her performance on Oprah. I am not an Oprah fan but I gave 10 points to her for conducting the interview. I am not going to dwell on whether she admitted guilt for her “past” habit. She is the VOICE, that accurately described “National Treasure”. I hope she is true to the spoken word and not the hype which she blames pressured her. The album is not as day of past but if what she says is gospel then we can expect greater things. She is neither 22 nor 32. She is a woman and she need to accept that now. Drugs are part of that culture and so to are success stories. I don’t believe in pulling down but motivating. I think that was Oprah’s motivation for conducting the interview because if she was taken for a ride it has serious implications for her. Whitney I love you. You voice particularly the live performances continues to bring me joy during my dark moments and that is all I can ask for. A little comfort in my times of need. So to you I say sing sing and continue the good fight. That is all we can ask.
I think Im gonna have to agree with #45 as well… You seem to have listened with an open mind and heart to her interview as I also did.
Im not really sure what everyone else thought they heard or if there is just alot of repeating ignorance going on just to have something to say. Maybe Whitney didnt open up and admit as much as everyone thought she should have, but she doesnt have to. She admitted what she could. The rest is between her and God.
Personally I commend her for coming forward to share her story and to admit what she did. I know ALOT of the folks on here claiming Whitney didnt say this/that, she shoulda, coulda, blah…blah…are the MAIN ones that are caught up in foolishness right now. Misery sure does love company huh? Why praise the person who lies because its entertaining, yet condemn the one who tells the truth because it makes you take a closer look at yourself? She mentioned alot of other things in addition to her admission of drug use…..needing/wanting to get out of a bad marriage, being emotionally/verbally abused, being unhappy, making herself small to allow her husband to feel big, doing things just to please her husband, how the relationship with her mom, dad & daughter suffered, how she lost herself in the marriage, how she stayed stubborn to the truth in an effort to prove everyone wrong, etc.
I find it a little strange that no one is focusing on any of those areas but instead choose to dissect her words and find fault in how (much) she revealed…maybe you need to go back and look at the interview again.
No 115 I agree 100% percent. I just want the woman to sing and bring me inspiration. I really don’t care about her personal life. She has to answer for that aspect. All I know is that there is no other singer who can put me in the zone and get me to feel as she does. Yeah yeah yeah the voice is not the same but the impact is the same. Look at the facial expressions, the body language and the emotions when she sings. It is like you understand the stresses and pain of the music and in those 3+ minutes you relate your entire life to what she is singing. That my friends is a gift that only few artists can command.
