Ross was invited to speak at long-time friend Michael Jackson’s memorial held in Los Angeles on Tuesday July 7th, but Ross declined via a letter that Smokey Robinson read at the ceremony. She also was a no show for his funeral last week, citing she wanted to grieve in private.

i don’t know about this i mean she probably has her reasons and is dealing with her grief she doesn’t look happy in the pics does she but it has left me salty mj really loved her and she is back up guardian for his kids. she should’ve been there i hope she doesn’t live to regret her decision. at least elizabeth taylor who was maybe his only TRUE friend was there. rest in peace michael

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH #5 AND #19 I HATE FUNERALS BUT I STILL GO OUT OF RESPECT AND LOVE FOR THE PERSON.
I AM MAD AND DISGUSTED BY DIANA ROSS’S ABSENCE AT THE FUNERALS, THAT IS THE LAST TIME YOU’LL BE ABLE TO SEE THE PERSON. I BELIEVE HE WAS THERE WITH GOD SPIRITUALLY WATCHING WHO WAS THERE AT HIS FUNERAL. I HOPE HE SEEN WHO REALLY LOVED AND CARED ABOUT HIM.

Ross is a legend, & I think she avoided the funeral because she thought it was going to be some sort of freak show to make money – I think she was wrong, but I was never friends with MJ & she was – so maybe we should all be hushing up for this one!
On a side note – If I am ever a photographed celebrity – I’ll send someone else to Taco Bell – or just not dress like I’m homeless, or on crack – not a good look…

I respect her actually unlike fake Liz Taylor, Quincy, etc. They were more concerned about letting the world know they wouldn’t attend the memorial because it was publicized as though MJ was solely theirs. At least she stuck to her word… Liz,etc popped up afterwards and the burial was still televised in a way

I understand people grieve differently. But, this is a respect factor here. We know she loved Michael, and he loved her too, and no loving someone doesn’t mean go to their funeral b/c you love them. But it would of been in great taste, and RESPECT, to attend a ceremony that you were invited to, to say your last goodbye to a person you “loved dearly”. I think all the extras, is bullshit. No one is checking for you like that. REALLY Diana! It’s inexcusable IMO.

What ever that woman does; she’s wrong.
She kept her distance, didn’t join the circus, didn’t hog the limelight (and she so legitimately could have), issued a sensitive and modest statement, behaved with old-fashioned respect and dignity, and still she gets grief.
I respect her more and more.
