i youtubed her and she doesnt sound bad live with her acoustic version. she sounds really rock. like she should be in a rock band and its lead singer. her other songs that she said she wrote are terrible like this song.

I’ve been listening to this song for a good few weeks and I think it’s great. There’s nothing wrong with a good fun pop song. I wish her the best of luck. Even though there is room for lots of people to shine only a few cone to the top, there’s still a hierarchy or group of leading artists of the moment. That’s just the way it is. Just think about all the female groups in the 90’s/early noughties and the most successful ones were probably The Spice Girls, Destiny’s Child and TLC.

Please don’t mistake my passion and frustration about this subject for hating. I just really feel strongly about this subject. I feel like people nowadays, are more interested in the way artists look, than what they have to contribute as actual skilled musicians. My frustration with all of this is; WHERE ARE ALL OF THE REAL SINGERS, the real artist? I have been in the music industry for quite some time now, trying to get music published, and you would not believe how many 3rd and 4th party people are involved. Trying to buy the music I write to give it to “known” writers in the industry, just so they can pass it off as there own, and try and impress the likes of some non-talented gimmick like Rihanna, who has writers, producers and a huge budget handed to her on a silver platter. While other talented singers
(Tiffany Evans, Phafffatt, a.k.a Dandria youtube star) struggle to get their foot in the door. It amazes me the amount of denial that has surfaced in the recent years in the music industry. People like, Heidi Montag and Cassie should never have been able to infiltrate the music industry. How can we hold an artist to one high standard and expect the upmost of them (Beyonce) and the other, we lower the standard and say everything they do is “fire” (Rihanna)? One producer said to me, “it’s about the music” Well what about whose singing the music? Def Jam went to extreme measures to reinvent and reintroduce Rihanna to the world. The bad ass, image that she proclaims now progressed in a very short period of time, due to her spiked display and interest in high fashion. And as you all can see, that persona has a mind of its own, because she seems to believe that she had it all along. When really, she got an enormous upgrade. THAT IS NOT TALENT! That’s money, a better stylist, a better hairdresser, a bigger budget, an image consultant, better writers, producers, Public Relations agent, and manager. And although she wears it confidently. There is just one problem. SHE CANNOT SING. Or perform for that matter. Come on people, that’s not what music is all about! Check the archives if you still don’t get it. I know times have changed, beauty standards have changed, fashion’s changed, music is changing and so is pop culture. But, that is no excuse. We have got to start making better judgment calls and raising the bar higher. It starts with us. The consumers, the listeners, the bloggers, the fans. This is why the record industry is suffering. Because without us, they dont profit. 1 more thing!

This is about “YOU” all emblemizing, worshiping images of black people who you all feel deserve to be higher up or superior to us, because they’re lighter and prettier. Stop complaining. The new beauty standards of “lighter is better” “thinner is sexier” are malfunctioning in of itself. Because there is so much of the same thing that every time a new prototype comes along, it is condemned by both mainstream pop society and culture and society itself. Too much of the same things and no variety breeds over saturation. People complain that Beyonce is too available, but we are the very force behind her monstrous success. We created the monster. Her celebrity has overshadowed everything, everyone and anything that is of substance. Solange. Poor Solange. So really it’s up to us. Granted she is talented, but she is NOT THE ONLY ONE. And she doesnt have to be.

Ok, I STAN HARD for Lady Gaga all around (and I stan for Rihanna, but only when it comes to fashion) because Gaga is like my mantra personified: freedom, individuality, and empowerment. I don’t see Rihanna when I look at Eva Simons. I don’t even see Gaga. Yes, Lady Gaga has some europop-like songs, but these two are different. I am so liking Eva Simons and I can tell this is her actual style, just like Gaga, she’s not being marketed to look this way (sorry Rihanna, but everyone knows your whole shtick was marketed for mass appeal).
