TV BIT: CLIP OF THE WHITNEY/OPRAH INTERVIEW

In an emotional interview, Whitney Houston opened up to talk-show host Oprah Winfrey about a pivotal role her mother played in getting the singer back on track.

“Now looking at it, I see the love and passion that my mother had for me and she has for me,” Houston told Winfrey. “She says, ‘I have a court [injunction] here. Either you do it my way, or we’re just not going to do this at all. We are both going to go on TV, and you’re going to retire.’

Houston said her mother implored her to come with her, saying, “‘ It’s not worth it.’ ”

” ‘I’m not losing you to the world,’ ” Houston said her mother told her. ” ‘I’m not losing you to Satan. I’m not doing this. I want my daughter. I want you back. I want to see that glow in your eyes. That light in your eye.’ “”

The sit-down interview, set to air on Monday (September 14th). In the meantime, make sure to view Whitney’s new video for “I Look To You” here.

now parents take note. thats how a mother should act and protect her child.

im glad her mother was proactive and bold enough to do that. and im glad whitney listened.

im sorry but this is the only and last time i will subject myself to watch oprah’s show. her ratings are down and she needs to viewers. oprah sure knows what it takes to make ppl tune in and whitney is one of them. jayz on the other hand, NOT!

Speechless… That’s God right there.. Right along with a mother’s love.. I bet you Bobby was abusing her.. Beating her down mentally and physically..

    Glad she’s back!

If Michael Jackson had parents like this, he would have gotten the help he was desperately crying for. How could anyone sit back and believe it when your child says, I’m fine when there is 100% evidence that says they are not? I know his parents are hurting, and probably hurting moreso looking at Cissy Houston succeeding in going to war for her baby and succeeding. Then again, Cissy never used Whitney as a commodity either. Poor MJ, I look at Whitney surviving and it angers me that MJ didn’t make it.

Whitney Houston, i prayed for you. Ur voice (the greatest Love of all) inspired me when i was at my lowest.

These people can have Beyonce, Rihanna, Kheri Hilson

I’ll take the beauty of whitney’s voice, and lyrics anyday.

Hey Whitney is Dope! A Legend, but why is Bobby responsible for her actions…hmmmm. I guess every story needs a villain

  7. mike

yeeeeeaaaaaaaaah im a little worried about the whole bobby blame game they are going to play.

What I can say is that at times Whitney can come across kinda fake but here it all seems so real and I hope the whole interview is like that. I think that last time she was on Oprah was with Mariah when they sang when you believe and she brought out My Love is Your Love.

But its great to see her back….no doubt about it

  8. MY2SENSE

Yes, it’s all good in the hood Whitney. I hope you take responsibility for your own self and stop blaming BBrown. I mean, I pass the liquor store everyday leaving my house.

I’m not these youngin…lol! I remember when your brother got caught with all that cocaine.

In the words of Bobby Brown, “Whitney started me on all the hard stuff, because she knew more people and had more money” so I’m not downing you but come clean.

  18. SparkD

Bohwe, You are so on point about Cissy Houston vs. Michael Jackson’s parents. That takes strength, initiative, and balls to do! Cissy brought in the sheriff!

  19. Ann Miller

This will be an interview to remember. Praise the Lord that Whitney has come through this and is truly back in what seems to be the correct place. She is ready to talk and release herself from all of these terrible secrets that she has been carrying around for so very long. God Bless Whitney and her family. Her beautiful voice and presence has been sorely missed.

  20. We need Whitney back in the game. Been tired of the whinny, young, imitating females popping their guts all over the place half dressed. Time for some grown music finally!

  21. Bohwe

SPARKD-Thank you, I’m not trying to gossip or anything but let’s be real, MJ was a man in so much pain. Who puts their child at 6 years old to perform, and keep them from developing naturally? People can say MJ was his own enemy, but when you deny a person a childhood from age 6, when you put it in their head that you have to work , work so the family can live and eat, it’s your responsibility. What kind of person do you think you can get. And if The American Dream story is a synopisis of what MJ had to go through, than he didn’t stand a chance. His father didn’t want them to have girlfriends, or get married, pushing that Your fans will be disappointed and not care anymore, and then saying that in front of MJ knowing that he was extremely sensitive and eager to please, he wanted love. Then telling MJ that he was ugly for years , calling him big nose, knowing full well that MJ was the best looking of the group. They gave MJ low self-esteem because as long as MJ didn’t love himself, he couldn’t run off and marry a woman and move away , thus taking away their financial means and support. And then kept him from normalcy, where he didn’t know the basics of life, all the while they went off and lived their lives. And then wonder why MJ turned to medication to survive. Come on. Atleast, Cissy got her daughter help. People make mistakes and I’m pretty sure the Jacksons are sorry and living with the guilt of destroying MJ. It didn’t have to happen. And then people wonder why he had white or white looking children- if you had a father who said that you were ugly , talked about your nose, wouldn’t you have deep seated complex issues and not want to have children who look like something that you were told was ugly, i.e. yourself. Atleast Whitney H, problems stem from self-destruction and not something caused by a parent, you know how destructive that is , to a person’s psyche.
