TV BIT: PRESIDENT OBAMA ON LETTERMAN

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

On Monday, President Barack Obama sat down with David Letterman on the Late Show to discuss topics including race, the economy and, of course, health care reform.

When asked whether the reaction to his health care plan is driven by racism, the President replied, “First of all, I think it’s important to realize that I was actually black before the election.”

President Obama said he expects unemployment will be a “big problem” for at least another year, but he said the economy will rebound even stronger.

This was the President’s sixth appearance on Letterman’s show, but the first time for a sitting president.

The country couldn’t afford a 1000 billionwar in Iraq…. or a rescue plan for Wall Street multinationals neither…we’re talking about health care : it’s just a fundamental, basic need/right. US are ahead in certain sectors (economy, science, culture) but social needs and rights are so undermined… Can’t understand why…

But yh,weird that ppl rather comment posts featuring socialtes (in the same places, parties with the same ppl…etc) Whatever…

Nice Vid

What part of “We” “Cannot” “Afford” “Universal Healthcare” do you not understand.

The “We”

The “Cannot”

The “Afford” or

The “Universal Healthcare”

The bottom line is, We can’t afford a new healthcare program. It’s common sense. If you don’t have the money, don’t spend (we all follow this value in our everyday lives). I don’t care what color my President is. I’m looking at the policies for what they are and fyi, Obama is still sending troops over to Iraq. We can’t afford a war NOR healthcare, right now. We need to work on that defecit and get jobs for the people.

Are we this color struck!!!?

For those people who say we cannot afford the health care reform, you obviously have not been informed about it. All you hear is the spending that goes on. However, you don’t take into account all the savings the plan will introduce. For example, by giving universal health care people will be able to go to the hospital and get minor inexpensive treatments instead of waiting until they become major expensive treatments. Also, the President has stated he wanted tort reform which would save doctors money on malpractice insurance. These savings will be passed on to us. However, the only thing people focus on is the spending that will be necessary to cover everybody, not the savings this will produce.

GO Mr. President… I respect you for trying to bring about the positive change…Healthcare is something we def need, and is a reason some of us {every race} are dying….I havent had healthcare since I graduated college because I was on my parents plan…I now have a full time Job and the benefits are quite costly and not in my budget….if he can help us to find a happy medium and enable those that do not have healthcare to get it and properly take care of themselves then i’m all for it…can we just please give him a chance?! I could see if this plan was gonna hurt us but he’s trying to do something that is gonna help everyone that can’t afford healthcare!!!! Be INFORMED & Stay INFORMED!!!!

We couldn’t afford the war NOR healthcare reform.

That’s like “Sheniqua” saying, “Well, if I could afford the shopping spree I went on, I can afford a doctor’s appt for my child.”

No Sheniqua, you couldn’t afford the shopping spree NOR the doctor’s appt. How about you stop going on shopping sprees first.

I say the same to Obama—How about you end the war before erecting a new cost, healthcare reform.

If Obama can do something about ur healthcare i think he should do it no matter the cost b/c wat i saw on tv a while back on ur healthcare i felt sad, people had to go sleep over to be seen by a doctor the next morning? If it’s that bad really i think it’s the first thing he should start with cos healthcare is the basic. That made me feel like here in UK we actually take the free healthcare that we got for granted. Go Obama

@ Lewis,

The current health care system is a mess and that’s without a single payer system. If it isn’t fixed now, most people who don’t even have insurance will be paying much more without actually getting anything in return. Those who have insurance will be paying a lot more with the additional fees they’re already paying to their insurance.

It is true that the insertion of such a system will be expensive at first and most of the young adults of this generation will be paying for the heftier part of the bill until they hit their 50s; but at least their children will be insured. Its like that for every other country. Canada puts 10% of its GDP on health care and France has a dual system and everybody is taken care of. Its expensive but it has more benefits in the long run then this mess.

I don’t understand why Americans aren’t serious about health care. I guess it shows where their priorities are.

Talk…..talk……talk ! The time to talk is when you run for President, but once you win and get elected, the time for talking is over,it`s time to do,and actually get things done.Obama isn`t doing anything, that`s why his popularity poll numbers are dropping,he`s just talking,we still have no national healthcare plan.He would make one helluva motivational speaker because he gives good speeches, but as a President he is just like the ones who came before him,who did nothing ,where is the change? Only God can change this unfair system.

32.

Lewis

@ 30

Our priorities?

Bush was so busy hyping up a trillion dollar pseudo-war in Iraq, who was thinking about healthcare?

I hear you what you’re saying about the long term benefits of universal healthcare, but I still think the “War” should be ended first, before investing in healthcare. If not, I fear what could be a depression and collapse of the dollar. Bottom line, is we don’t have money; we only have a huge defecit.

33.

Float & Sting

Tuesday, September 22, 2009 /

Lewis you’re being rude… SMH

Of course the country can afford a health care system, the US have thousands of billions of budget, it’s up to the american ppl to choose what they want to invest their money on : (military research?) and believe me if UK had a common border with the US, you’ll be flying to Europe baby ! U don’t know what’s universal healthcare before you get it (Obama’s project is not Universal though I believe, only left-outs would benefit from public insurance, the rest would remain on the private, it will be nothing in common with what exists in France, Uk… but a step forward a more balanced health care system )

Anyway…it’s time for Change : you knew it was going to happen !

34.

Lewis

Tuesday, September 22, 2009 /

@ 33

What kind of a budget do we really have?

Lamb Chop.. “We the people” owe the Federal Reserve (a private agency) over 9 Trillion Dollars in National Debt.

Do you understand where added expenses to our “budget” is leading this nation?
Answer: Further into the hands of a private agency.
We will literally be owned by a few wealthy families.

35.

Lewis

Tuesday, September 22, 2009 /

Our top “priority” should be paying off the national debt.

36.

sowhat_12345678

Tuesday, September 22, 2009 /

@33

France has that system already and the United States is broke so Lewis isn’t in La-la land when he says that the United States can’t afford it.

@ Lewis

The United States can’t afford to leave the Middle East for reasons that point mainly to Saudi Arabia and the cheap oil it can get by remaining in the region so that’s not even an option. Oil is a necessity for the United States and if I remember correctly, former President Carter created a doctrine assuring that the United States would do whatever it takes to have oil in its possession. I don’t think health care is that far fetch. Its really expensive as it is and it could only get worse.

Obama has already rolled up his sleeve. He found a way to maintain the countries budget in check. Wanna know how? By effing up every other country. He’s doing exactly what he’s not supposed to do during an economic meltdown…protectionism. The infamous “buy american” is very real. Here’s your main source of funding.

Have any one of you guys read the 200+ pages to this bill? There are some pro’s and cons. I can’t say this is the best way to go but America needs a Universal Health Care Program. Don’t be fooled by “Spending” cause we’ve been spending for the last 50 years, America can handle it. If we can afford a War, we can afford a healthcare plan. As all of you were so focused on Bush and the Bailout…. Congress gave the FBI 500 billion. I don’t see anyone complaining. America is still spending…with your eyes close. Don’t let the media brainwash you and make your decisions….research and investigate what all the hoopla is about before you make your judgement call. (We’ve already witnessed it with Obama’s Education speech)

The healthcare reform is to push the RFID chip through the medication. It has NOTHING to do with helping others. Allegedly, the reason why the chip will be used is to seek out the source of health issues and other maladies within the human body. This is why it will be mandatory for all, as will the swine flu vaccine eventually. I have to say that I’m always amazed when people say, “What we need to do is end the war!”, lol, as if they’re saying something deep. America was built on war, it thrives on war, and has waged and instigated wars every ten years since it’s inception. It’s a very simple premise when you understand that America is the regenerated Roman Empire and the Romans were war machines.

Furthermore, you can only spend money that you have. If you don’t have you must borrow. When you borrow, you go into outstanding debt. To pay off the debt, you must do the bidding of your debtor. If your debtor wishes you to wreak havoc in the Middle East, this is what you must do. America will not, and CANNOT, pull out of any war unless the elite give the order to standown. This is America, and the same way America’s citizens owe the American government, America owes it’s debtors. America cannot afford to do a damn thing other than build weapons to wage more wars for it’s pimps…..the main pimp being the Federal Reserve, which is printing money that has no gold backing it. This cause inflation, and the skyrocketing costs, which causes people to lose their jobs. It’s a never-ending downward cycle and the elite know that there is no averting it, so they put a charismatic, well-trained clown up front to assuage the fears of the common, simple people. That is why this monetary system is about to be scrapped. It has nothing to do with any damn healthcare, and believe me, those crazy crackers with rifles in front of the White House are not as crazy as you think. Whites know how other whites think, so they know that there is always an insidious motive behind the sweet talk. You’d think that after 400+ years of hardcore slavery, rape, and murder, that blacks would have the same insight, smh. I guess not.

The money that is being spent is greenbacks with no gold backing it. It’s spent on good faith. This is why they have these rappers that push the importance of “getting paper”. It’s part of their agenda. Real money is gold, silver, precious jewels, land, cattle, fresh water, etc…..not paper. Again, just because America is spending money doesn’t mean that it has money. The paper money is monopoly money.

I love President Obama!! Never quite understood why a country as powerful as America has no affordable healthcare for it’s people…This is why I love Canada, just swipe my OHIP card and go!! We pay a lot in taxes but when I see what goes on in other countries in terms of their healthcare system, paying high taxes to live comfortable isn’t so bad after all. I hope the president succeeds inl incorporating a healthcare system to help the people who need it most.. :P
