VIDEO: SERENA WILLIAMS ON GOOD MORNING AMERICA

In a recent interview with “Good Morning America,” famed tennis player Serena Williams decided to discuss her recent US Open tirade, as well as her new book “On the Line.” And according to ABC News, Serena is regretful of her actions.

Serena told “Good Morning America,” that she just lost control and got a little over-excited, at Sunday’s game. Williams has now been fined $10,000 and is waiting for tournament officials to decide, whether there will be any further punishment.

Williams also spoke about her new book “On the Line,” which talks about her ups and downs, to become the world’s top-ranked female player. It also talks about her sister Yetunde Price’s shocking murder back in 2003.

She said that everything came crashing down around that time, and says that it was really hard to go through it.

Williams got quite upset and started tearing up, when she spoke about how her sisters are part of the motivation for her to tell her story. Peep the interview above.

She does look good in that pic, love the hair! Why do people always blow things up??Damn the girl got mad…she is a competitor. Although you are supposed to keep your cool and temper under control, SOMETIMES or at least one time you are going to get angry in sports, she is human and very passionate about her sport. And them refs do be making some wrong ass calls sometime. People act like she slapped the damn ref or something…get over it!!!

    *Checks my resolution*

Serena Williams and Ciara are both looking genuinely feminine and dare I say, “womanly,” and….omg….”beautiful.”

Hefty bonus packages for both stylists.

  7. Dee Dee

yea when you think of the ramifcations ie; sponsors etc… you best go on a talk show or news source contrite and humble. because the blacklash the black folks are subjected too now is unprescedented. “fox news” and others have put a target on black folks back . all this to inflame the passion and the pot of hate, now that there is a black president… even the FBI who goes after wm jefferson congressman in louisiana gets set up by them [FBI} they find 90,000 in the freezer and cheney, bush, and paul bremmer gets away w/ 9 billion vanishing in thin air on their watch… and you don’t hear a word from the director of the fbi. geared for failure black folks the smear campaign is at your door and knock’n. they can go after ACORN while sarah palin and the rest of the republican crooks skate.. wow….

  11. Tealeaf

I still admire her, and her book is good.

She was wrong for acting out, but She usually doesn’t act that way, I think she will learn

  12. s. dot

Stop apologizing Serena. It’s okay. You are a sister. It’s okay to get mad sometimes, snap your fingers and roll your eyes, sway you neck from side to side. I get you boo! lol

  13. **PRETTY WINGS***

LOL @ them styling her in white, to represent her purity?

Im like, WHO THE HELL CARES? Shes a human being and we all get mad, and that actually was kind of sexy I thought

It was cute to see her heart beating and huffing and puffing at the beginning of the internview. Shes really feminine,.

And damn when she was 19 in 99 she was skinny as hell lol

I know Common ass be beating that shit out. Now I can see how

  14. Just Me

What’s up with the ring on her ring finger?
    Hmmm……

  15. LULU

Like she cares about $10K please, that’s chump change. I just hope that is all, she’s had a clean record and not been in any other trouble, I think that is enough.

  16. I like that she said she wasnt a robot, people’s expectations are so high. Nobody is perfect.

  17. Supreme

    ugh gender? more like race…

  18. uptowngirl

Keep your head up Serena. This too will pass. Everybody looses it sometimes, so fuc!@#( what!! He or she who is without sin cast the first stone. I still suport you Serena (and Kanye too..yeah I said it….)

co-sign. Sometimes you have to rock your neck and get hard and black (no pun intended) so people know don’t fuck with this.

  20. No No No

Tennis is not easy and if you want to be the best you gotta gifted at working your ass off for it. I LOVE SERENA. I think she is fabulous and doing fantastic things with her life.

  21. KIDDO

Go Serena you are the best at what you do! so don’t let anyone take that away!

So what she got angry, lost her temper, but she did not hurt anyone!

Oh yeah I will get the book! You look good girl, keep up the good work!

  22. D

She was wrong but it should be noted that Roger Federer also cursed the umpire/judge during his finals match. How come this isn’t in the news? Interplay of race and gender.

At the end of the day, we are all human beings. Both Serena and Roger are champions that have shown a lot of class throughout their careers. Also, both Serena and Venus have been subject to classless racism directed towards them and their father ever since they began playing.

We all lose our cool. I am not making excuses to say that this makes it right. One must be responsible for their bad behavior and once they have apologized and been punished, people need to move on.

But expect hell when you keep behaving in a certain way (*waves at Kanye*). Get it together, Mr. West. NEXT..

  23. la_verite

Wow – this is one of the handful of times that I can genuinely say she looks pretty. Like her features look soft and feminine – go ‘head!

  24. Molinabz

oh whatever… people are acting like this is a big deal…
everyone is allowed to show emotion and express themselves whether it is showing positive or negative feelings… serena is a person and is allowed to express herself just like everyone else does… her being a celebrity should not matter… she has every right to get angry and cuss whoever the hell out… we all do it or have done it before!

  25. Jolie

She looks nice, she should keep her hair like that.

  26. tae04

Serena just show them by winning all the slams in 2010!

  27. Many Black People Need Anger Management Therapy

How many AFRICAN AMERICAN CELEBRITIES, athletes and other public figures have gotten inTROUBLE in the past few years because they lack restraint… for a people who are less than 25% of the United States population they need constant positive representation and exercise restraint, discipline and patients.

It’s bad enough that they are the most HATED RACE in the world. They don’t even get along well with each other. Percentage wise they commit more murders and CRIMES among each other. They are on top of charts for most DISEASES. They have the highest rate of obesity. They are among the top two for school DROPOUT rates. They have the lowest percentage in MARRIAGES. Many glorify the thug life. It seem like their women love doing explicit GYRATING dances. There are many professional, classy and patient black folks, but many of them are selfish to go back to their communities and help bring many up like jewish folks do. If you are broken as a race and a community, the fight in the human race will be harder. If the successful can’t get it right, what does that say for the others and how it affect them.

ANGER & STUPIDITY among the successful – the short list:
    Chris Brown – Physical Abuse
    T I – Illegal Weapons Possession
    O.J – Murder, Theft
    Mike Tyson – Rape
Plaxico Burress – Illegal Weapons Possession
Michael Vick – Cruelty to Animals
Whitney Huston – Illegal possession of drugs and loaded handgun
Queen Latifa – Illegal drugs possession
Snoop Dog – Illegal drugs possession & Illegal Weapons Possession
    Shyne – Weapons violations
Lil Kim – Lying to a Federal grand jury
Mayor Marion Barry – Illegal drugs possession & drunk driving
Mayor William Jefferson – Bribery, racketeering and money laundering
Bobby Brown – Misdemeanor battery & Illegal drug possession
Eddie Murphy – Stopped by police with a transvestite prostitute
Suge Knight – Violence & parole violation
    Diana Ross – drunk driving
    Kanye West – VMA outburst
    Serena Williams – Threaten outburst
Rev Jesse Jackson – cheat on wife
Kobe Bryant – cheat on wife
So many more, not enough time.

Thankfully many have come back, apologize and give back. The work continues.

  28. Topman

    Aww I still love Serena

  29. backingbarack

WOW that picture of serena is the most feminine and soft she has EVER looked.

theres a first for everything. at least she learned one lesson from this fiasco is to attempt to be more lady like?

  30. R U SERIOUS??? NEW DC SOCIALITE BUT MADE MY OWN MONEY

I AM STILL A HUGE FAN AND I DO NOT NEED HER TO DO ANYTHING BUT LEARN AND MOVE ON.

We hate ourselves. We have to correct the ignorance within before we can call anyone else out on hatred. When I was in school, I was not called a sell out by whites, it was by fellow African Americans. We tear down Dr. Rice, Judge Thomas, Pres. Obama, but we uphold Chris Brown (woman beater), R. Kelly (molester), Kayne West (Jackass). There’s something wrong with that mentality. We cannot rely on other communities to look for our self worth when we fail to on a regular basis. I’m not saying that you are asking or saying anything that is untrue, it’s just kind of a statement to uphold what you’re trying to get at. My question for many CL fans….When does someone make a mistake that does not need to be overlooked?

  33. I LOVE THIS GAME

—WE LOVE U ALWAYS GIRL , STAY ON TOP .

  34. Bic

Why is everyone [ALL] mad about this B/S? So what if –BLACK– people went off this weekend, all they showed was emotions from the b/s they continue to witness and is being abused by. Enough is enough. This just looks like the case of Angry black people attacking POOR INNOCENT [white] W0MEN! MOVE THE HELL ON! And if Obama did call Kanye a “J@ck@ss” He’s in even bigger idiot for trying to suck up 2 these white people. All Black people at that for really being so feeble-minded and contriving yourself in a BUNCH OF WHIITE FOLKS B/S! People act as if he did this at the Grammy…Oscars…EMMYS…it was just the VMA awards! It’s career-GOAL(GOLD)-award. ALL OF IT IS B/S!

  35. Kymlayla

LOVE, LOVE this look….eyebrows tammed, soft natual make up….Looking good Serena…

    About the “outburst”…

Serena, as Kat Williams would say “forgot she was a nigga”….Yeah her and Venus are the best in the game beyond a doubt but you are black first and foremost and a woman. She keeps mention “others” have done this or that on the court or J McEnroe and J Connors are her idols…but boo they are WHITE MALES who are excused from that behavior they showed on the court…. point blank. What those people did Serena simply can not do and expect to get away with it….it just wont happen. Hopefully this will shed some light and let her know yeah folks are loving you when you’re on top but let you stop outside that boundary THEY set for you and see how fast you go from being Serena the Tennis Champ to Serena the nigga who step out of line.

  36. When You're Black & Successful...

When You’re Black & Successful there is a microscope on your every word and your every move. You do have to work twice as hard, you do have to be twice as discipline and attentive. You must have thick skin. Stay close to those who honestly support you. Always have positive thinking. Serena, Barack and Kanye you make mistakes, but what you do to fix it counts most. We love you.

  37. Anonyme

I don’t see the big deal. She was playing a sport and got pissed off b/c she thought she was wronged. Its human nature. I wouldn’t apologize for a damn thing if I think I was wronged. Anyway, I don’t know about shit else but I do know that Ms Serena is stunning in these photos. Do it ma!

  38. BossyLady

Serena looked really nice and white is her color. (Move over LisaRaye). Anyway it was just a rash reaction because that match meant so much to her. She was going for 3 slams in one year and that women calling bull made her lose her head. Anger is a normal human reaction, it’s not learned, but comes natural. I’m not mad at Serena or any other person because mistakes are a part of life. Serena made me teary eyed talking about her sister. God bless Serena.

  39. RedbonegotthatKillBill

She can look nice in the face who knew.

Still shouldn’t have went off like that though as thats what white people expect us to do…What no Judah?

  40. SassyT

@39>>>That’s what white folks expect us to do. So what? I’m sick of black people always worrying about what white people think. I guess we’re all supposed to be good little n*ggas because “da white man might think lowly of us’n!” Stop tiptoeing around the plantation and worrying about what white people think. We act as though they are superior to us. Serena is human and she can go off if she wants. Only white folks are entitled? Please get some help for that Uncle Tom attitude!

  41. PEACE AT HEART

I’m definitely going to pick up Serena’s book ON THE LINE

    TEAM SERENA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  42. speak da truth

his question was “what do you say to the kids out there that look up to you?” I’d hope that the children and the adults that saw this realize that Serena is human…she is a person…she is a fierce competitor (which is why she spends so much time at the top of the rankings)…and like all of us, she is imperfect. She is woman enough to admit that she was wrong. But, she should never apologize for who she is.

I am angered that emotional outbursts and erratic behavior is accepted as a normal part of who John McEnroe and Jimmy Connors are, but when Serena has one over-the top moment (for which she has apologized) it becomes an international incident. There is still a skewed since of what is right and just in this country.

  43. Irony*

Can someone say Mc Enroe? I don’t recall not one white person giving him investigations when his mouth went south of the border, which was all of the time. So why are they giving Serena a hard time? The girl is ENTITLED to her moment whether it went wrong or not. She is human and she’s done a heck of a better job keeping it under control than most counterparts with not so dark skin ‘aka’ white….cough cough

  44. Vee1

She looks fab…..love her hair. Roger Federer went off on the chair umpire during his match, but that has made little to no headlines. Serena goes off on the line judge and people are making such a big deal about it…yeah so she cussed at her….she lost her cool it happens. The tennis world doesn’t care much for the Williams sisters anyway because of their in your face power house playing, so let Roger slide and try and crucify Serena. What a shame.

  45. IVORY'S INTELLECT

Roger Federer (no1 male tennis player) was swearing too, but, as usual, he can do whatever he likes and gets away with it just because he’s won a lot. Serena wasn’t going to seriously climb the chair and shove a ball down the stupid umpire’s throat. How would that even be possible.

Serena and Venus get NO respect, even from America the country they’re representing. After all they’ve won, America still jumps on white blondes like the Russina Sharapova, Clijsters and the ‘all American’ newcomer. Typical.

I’m sick of idiots who apologise on behalf of black people. If a white/Asian/biracial person does something wrong, I don’t hear every other member of their race apologising.

  46. LilVal

White folks – After all what they have done over the years – Go Serena!!!!!!

  47. Angela

I watched the interview and let me just say I wanted to reach into the television and smack the f**k out of the punk who intereviewed her. He showed no emotion, and the saddest part was her late sister who was murdered in the wrong place at the wrong time is missed dearly by Serena and her family. It just seemed to me that the interviewer could have shown more compassion toward Serena.

ABC needs to get that dead soul off the network!!!!!

She was wrong but it should be noted that Roger Federer also cursed the umpire/judge during his finals match. How come this isn’t in the news? Interplay of race and gender…
    ——————————————————————————————————————————-

That’s because black people tend to be scrutinised as hell; they’re always under the microscope; it’s basically racism because even some scrutiny were to be warrented in some situation, the black person, or any person of any race except white, would be “stabbed” ten times as opposed to a white person who would be stabbed once. Here’s another example involving Serena and scrutiny; remember the “cat suit” – you know the cat suit episode right? It was tight (literally) but the “white masses” thought that it was “inappropriate” (might I add that the suit was black); Daniella Hantuchova wore something more reavling; it was basically a bikini – no complaints whatsoever (go to @miannoying.com – type in “Hantuchova and see what she’s wearing) except for “some concern” about her weight; her suit wasn’t reavling; this scenerio epitomises scrutiny black people or anyone not white because “non-whites” can’t get away with “murder” but a white person can; it’s racism, plain and simple.

    ——————————————————————————————————————————-

One more thing: the scrutiny Serena’s had really shouldn’t be an issue and I really don’t think that she should have apologised but then again, because of the scrutiny a black person recieves, maybe she should have but I don’t think that she should have. The masses are coming down on her like she looses it every time; as if she got physical with the officials. It’s only the first time she’s lost (John McEnroe even said, “That’s as angry as I’ve ever seen here”…”She’s the most mentally strong competitor out there”). I’ve come across some videos and I, myself, can’t hear her threatening to kill the line judge. Other than that, this is the first time that Serena’s ever lost it; wait for someone white to loose and see how they’re going to “get away with it”; it just proves that anyone not white aren’t largely seen in a good light by the a lot of the “white masses” but not all of them.

  50. JAZZY P

SHe looks nice in that pic…. Hair cute too…

  51. Barbara

These past weeks have left me wondering how do the races really feel about each other. The comments on this site have left me very sad. Again, Racism is the issue. Whether it’s “you lie” (disrespectful at that particular moment) or “losing your cool” at the U.S Open (in front of thousands of spectators and million of viewers) which appears by GMA to be OK because your’e having an emotional moment.

My bubble has burst after reading the most racial comments on any site anywhere by any network. There are many people of color whom I admire in entertainment, politics, religion and every day life. I guess I have been foolish enough to believe that we (the races) had turned a corner in all this. Obviously there are many African Americans who do not feel that way.

As a white, female, with some Jewish heritage (subject to some discrimination during my lifetime on those features) I assure all of you that I do not make judgments, on any one of color. I may disagree with your politics, have issues with your beliefs or even not like your hairstyle but don’t we all even among our own races? I see you as a person, created in the image of God and am commanded to love you. But love and respect are two different pathways. Love can be freely given and freely received. Respect must be earned.

It appears from reading these comments today that little of either exists for most of you who made your “feelings” known. HOW TERRIBLY SAD.

  52. N.O. Finest504

First, let me speak on Serena…such a beautiful, talented, and competent young woman… who is also human…This is nothing more than her upset with herself and taking it out on someone else- everyone does this “Displacement”…anger…She’ll get over or people will get around this crapbowlah

    Anyways, to comment on “Barbara”….
If you have to point out that there are “many people of color who you admire”…I am quite a shame that you can probably count them by hand…for you to believe that it is just some “African Americans” who feel that racism exists is absurd…”We” are not simply in the believing stage, it does still exists. I – if you have not received the memo, am a young African American woman who wants to believe that in ttimehis dear old Southern region of America that we all are treated equal, but I simply can not. You believe that this is the time or that you “assumed” the time has past that the “races” have turned the corner….well we thought that as well. But sister of God, many African Americans have tried to turn the “corner” as you so worded, but many of have been knocked back around or chased back around that same corner-as a reminder that not all of us can move up…just a few at a time

And yet you stated you’ve had some discrimination because you are Jewish- ma’am that’s a RELIGION not a SKIN COLOR..may I ask what discrimination you’ve received being white? possibly as a woman…..but these are from your close counterparts- I face a double-edged sword ( being Dark skin and a woman).. You say “our” politics, hairstyles, religious beliefs you disagree with? last time I checked, this was “One Nation, Under God, indivisible, with liberty …”-that takes care of your religious and political concerns on “our” taste. and about hairstyles, Tell Real Housewife of Atlanta Kim to stay away from them then!
I am not here to say who’s had it worse.. I am here to acknowledge that you my dear, are judging by reading comments on this “blogsite” that many African American are “blah blah blah” bc clearly YOU have not moved around that corner

  53. N.O. Finest504

and I love you too my sister!

  54. N.O. Finest504

Oh yeah, I luv the hair & makeup Serena girlfriendzzz!

  55. HALCYONC

I am a HUGE fan of the Williams’ sisters(bigger Venus fan),but wrong is wrong. You cannot compare what Johnny Mac use to do. He never once threatened a linesperson. He was extremely disrespectful towards to the ump,but never went off on a linesperson. I am mad that Serena fell for this. They have long awaited this type of outburst from her. I’m upset that she fell prey.

Roger Federer swore at the ump. This is not the same as threating to shove a ball down the linespersons throat. If Serena had taken this up with the ump instead of the linesperson she would have won the tournament(I have seen her come back from match point down and win so). She lost her cool. I hope she learned from this.

One thing that did bother me(I think it also go under Serena’s skin)was that the crowd,American crowd, was cheering for her apponent from Belgium. It got on my nerves that she beat an INJURED(Clisters)Venus(and still had to take 3-sets to do it)and people were acting like she’s the second coming. Only in America would this happen. Nobody can tell me it isn’t because of their race. These ladies(especially Venus)generally are very well behaved. They are the best at what they do. If it weren’t for these sisters America wouldn’t be on the map in tennis. They just don’t get the respect they deserve. Breaks my heart.
