VIDEO/RECAP: CHRIS BROWN’S APPEARANCE ON LARRY KING LIVE
Thursday, September 3, 2009
CNN finally aired their big Larry King/Chris Brown interview on Wednesday night and let’s just say it left a lot to be desired. If you follow CONCRETELOOP on Twitter than you probably caught us re-tweeting all your comments about the interview last night.
The main cohesive question of the night was “Where was Chris Brown’s media trainer at when they prepped for this interview?” Here are a few recaps we tweeted about while watching the interview:
During the interview, Chris says he doesn’t remember the incident. But he released a statement earlier this week dismissing the claim.
Larry asked why it took 8 hours to turn himself in. Chris says he went to speak to his mother and made sure everything was right-he was scared
Chris says he knows he screwed up and it crosses his mind everyday.
Larry King: “Why do you think you were violent?” Chris Brown: “Just in relationships in general there is a chance you lose your temper..We’re young. No one taught us how 2 love each other, or how to control our emotions. There is a lot of stuff I wish I could change.”
Chris says he feels like he owes it to Rihanna not to talk about the incident during this interview.
LARRY KING just asked if drinking was involved and Chris was persistent about not talking about that night.
Chris Brown says he loves and is still in love with Rihanna and could see himself spending a lifetime with Rihanna..
Chris Brown says it’s hard not being able to contact/see Rihanna.
Chris compared his relationship with Rihanna to Romeo and Juliet.
Chris’ mom says Rihanna has no animosity towards her and still calls her “MOM”…
Chris’ mother Joyce is fighting back tears as Chris talks about the abuse he witnessed growing up.
Chris Brown says he believes the sentencing was FAIR
Chris admitted he got help for the apology video, but says the words came from his heart.
Chris Brown: “Me being 20, I’m not a man fully yet, I don’t know everything..”

Oh and I want to say that Chris is a piece of shit, I didn’t believe a word that came out of his mouth. The whole thing was so fake, and them having his mom and his lawyer up their with him made it even more fake. I bet his mom and lawyer won’t be there when he’s trying to promote that new album. Both him and Rihanna are crazy, he’s crazy for doing it and acting like its whatever and Rihanna is crazy for still talking to him.

I watched it he looked so sad…people need to just leave him alone, and he needs to leave that heffa alone before he ends up getting in trouble, I always say if no one raises their hands or voices then there wouldn’t be no incidents happening, it’s not ALWAYS the case but in their case it is…there are past reports about her being violent against him as well, and she was mad clingy, I met him and her at his party last year in NY and she was acting mad stuck up and he was a sweetheart…I’m not even a fan of her’s I like some of her songs because the writers wrote them to be catchy but her as a person….no bueno….I don’t do arrogant people…I feel like you should show your apprectiation to the people who got you to where you are,and she straight ignored her fans that were saying they loved her….she, oddly enough, spoke to me tho…lol…smh…I AM NOT A HATER BEFORE ANYONE STARTS WITH THAT B.S. I just call it how I see it, I LOVE to see black people being successful, so that’s not an issue…but anyhow, everyone be blessed!

I respect the fact that he didnt go into to detail about what happen that night, that is none of our business. He continues to take full responsibility for his actions that night. So he should be forgiven and he should be able to move on with his life.

the topic of domestic violence is not funny, not funny at all…yet the majority of that interview was pure comedy. Like dude said wow a million times. He had his lawyer step in a few times where he was about to sh*t on himself…and lol @ his mother saying Rihanna still calls her “MOM” really though? No hard feelings? I still like chris browns music and all but I will continue to not take sides since both sides aren’t really “OUT”. Oh and LMAO @ Larry King bringing up that UStream video w/ him and bow wow…I completely fell out of my chair at that very moment.

I agree that the interview was a waste of time. We didn’t learn anything new nor did Chris say anything to help others who may be in an abusive relationship. It was clear though that he needs some psychological help, as does Rihanna. He’s not good for her and she’s not good for him.

i’m pissed at him for wearing that bowtie. why look like a clown, chris? i mean seriously. the i’m in love with her shit was mad corny and he should have left it out. he’s gonna kick her ass again next year if they get back together… or she might get hi first this time. they need space and time to really just “be”… apart as well as away from this situation. since he wanna compare their lil love affair to romeo and juliet. well we all know how that ended. ri-ri needs some parental supervision anyway… these are KIDS… his momma should be advising him to stay away… but clearly she didn’t learn from her lil “situation”.
ok i’m just really mad about that damn BOWTIE! *slaps the dog SHHH outta chris

Believe it of not Chris Brown’s career will barely take a hit from this whole situation and people are making such a big deal over it. Its funny because his albums sales increased a week after the whole incident with Rihanna. Yep he was wrong but no one is too perfect that they can look down on someone else. I have nothing negative to say I wish him the best, he has to pay for his actions and we all do.

To answer u angel, what would his media coach train him on if he did not know what he was working with??? chris has never even been in such a situation, how can you prepare someone when you dont know how they will handle the pressure. this boy in that seat had to choose carefully every word he had to say as well as take the heat..some of you running your mouths would have collapsed afer the first minute..exprience is the best teacher and sometimes you have to throw people in the deep end to see how they survive..unfortunartely if you are short sighted u will not see that.its always about the bigger picture not the next outfit and this interview was done mainly for that purpose. it was also tell the media that he will never talk about regardless of how much they bring it up. This interview was never to give details and was not done to improve his image best believe that..imagine this mess after the six months when he was ready to restart his career..that would be the last nail in the coffin..when he comes back (which he will) there will be absolutely no room for failure in every sense..trust and beleive him and his team now know what to do are will be preparing him in the next six months.. dnt think for a minute they are reading your feedback..its the best free information they could have ever asked for.. Its all rosey in riri’s kitchen lets hope it last long!!

Wow! That is all i can say. Chris brown speaks like he is an immigrant, are you not from the United States, did you not go to school here? Why did he even do this interview, if you are no going to gave all the details? Are you fucking stupid Chris? You know what happened just come out and say it, we all know it was not all your fault,Rihanna had some parts in what took place that night. I still like you as a musician but your career is done, you should have never done that interview, you just said goodbye to the little bite of career you did have, everyone knows your mother family memebers will lie for you to get you out shit, thats with anyones family…duhhhhhh! Now that you just finished your career, go back to school and learn how to speak English,it like you didnt know what was coming out of your mouth.(it was pure caca ummmkay) Good luck, your gonna need it.

I resent it when some people make excuses and say that Chris is young and that is why he beat Rihanna up.No, I think that he beat Rihanna up because that`s the kind of person that he is,he is the type of person that can`t control his temper,it has nothing to do with being young or old,I`m young, but that don`t make me want to beat a girl up,Chris needs to learn how to control his temper and for now,he should leave the females alone and concentrate on his music career ,get his self together and right with God before he gets into another relationship.

Can we please leave this boy alone now.. F**k!! Its done, its done and he’s sorry, he still loves her blah, blah, blah.. Surely as people we’ve got more to talk about and write about than this 20yr old boy who’s clearly made the biggest mistake in his life yet.. Domestic violence didn’t start or end with Chris and Rihanna’s incident.. She’s forgiven him and moved on so why can’t we.. Just leave the f**king boy alone, I’m so sick and tired of all this BS.. He’s a kid and still has a lot to learn so lets not judge..
Please can we just leave all this drama behind us now.. Leave the boy alone..

Okay First Of All I Just Wanna Say I Would Never EVER Condone Domestic Violence As I Grew Up With It For 10Yrs…But What I Do Wanna Say Is…People Say That What He Did Was Not A Mistake Which Annoys Me…Too Do This Once Can Be Classed As A Mistake, Okay It Shouldn’t Have Happened But U Cannot Control Ur Anger At Tymes…Now Especially From How Big This Has Become I Could Say Okay He Made A Mistake BUT U Cannot Call A Second Tyme A Mistake, Unless He Does This Again Or Youu Yourself R Ever In His Position U Cannot Say “This Wasn’t A Mistake Blah Blah” Cuz U Haven’t Been In That Situation…
Second Of All…Although He Didn’t Say Muchh Of What We Have Already Heard And It Did Basically Just Repeat Things We Have Already Heard I Respect The Fact That He Didn’t Go Into Detail And Why Should He, It’s Just As Much Rihanna’s Buisness As His So Why Should He Get Into It, No One Give A Ishh Bout None Famous People Dying From Domestic Violence So Why Just Cuz They R Famous Do People Feel It’s THERE Buisness To Know Every Detail, He Didn’t Beat Youu So It’s No One’s Buisness But There’s & There Families…The People That R In There Lives Day In Day Out…
Third Of All…I Feel Chris Has Learnt His Lesson And Will Continue To Keep Learning, People Forget He’s Still Only 20!! I Know At 20 Ur Not A Child But Ur Not Grown Either, These Two Are Still So Young & Still Have ALOT To Learn As Everyone There Age Does…As I Said At First I Am Never EVER Going To Condone Domestic Violence But I Will Stand For Someone Being Given A Second Chance When They Know They Have Done Wrong…I’ll Stand Up For Someone That Has The Ball’s Enough To Hold His Hands Up & Admit He’s Done Wrong…
But What We All Have To Remember Is That We Don’t Know These Two As PEOPLE & Don’t Know What Has Gone On Behind Closed Doors In The Past…
I Wish Both Of Them The Best Of Luck In The Future & Hope People Can Stop Judgin Such A Young Man & Woman As If Others Have Never Done Wrong…Love Is Crazy & They Had A Relationship Like Anybody Else Our Age…

Chris Brown does not seem remorseful. He is a bit arrogant in my opinion. All that bs about not getting into thing because he respects Rihanna………where was that respect when he whipped her a$$! He and his mother should be concern that he drew a blank after such a violent encounter. He should be in therapy. I love how people want to sitll jump down on him, when if put in the same situation would have done the same thing. He snapped and lost it and there was a reason for it, we just dont know it. So stop judging him because he did not break down every gory detail of that night. She still wants him and not because she was in a domestic violence situation. If any of you have ever been in a relationhip that got carried away what did you do the next moring? got screwed and kissed, same thing here, the only difference is that they are stars and people are mad cause they cant get deep into there business.. This should’ve been over the next week after it happen, but because someone wanted a story here we are again.. Rihanna is still not a victim and I stand on this when all is said and done people are going to beg him for forgiveness for dragging this out this long…

The female fans who have been defending Chris Brown from the beginning of this situation make me want to vomit. It’s just really crazy how some females who would never actually have a chance with him are so quick to blame Rihanna saying she started it, when it doesn’t matter who started it Chris finished it. I’m sure they had an argument, and she might of hit him first or caused him to go over the edge but HE should of controlled his emotions, and females should support females that experienced anything like that no matter who the person who did it is. It’s appalling just because it’s CHRIS BROWN that he can do no wrong.
I’ve read comments before that even said things like “He can hit me, he’s so this and so that” makes yourself look low and that you have no respect for yourself, and shit like that. That is so wack and desperate.

Talent always prevails. He is very talented and his music will speak for itself. He is an entertainer and he doesn’t owe the public an explanation. His music is what he gives to the public. Everyone shows remorse differently. The incident happened over 5 months ago, so why do people expect him to act like it happened yesterday. He said that he and Rhianna ended as friends. So if the victim has come to terms with this, why can’t the pubic(the people who had absolutely nothing to do with this) move on!!!!

You are judging this guy on his inability to articulate the English language. He SAID he wanted to take accountability early on. DIDN’T YOU ALL SAY he waited too late to say “I’m Sorry.”

Its not our freaken business! if your disgusted by what he did and dont want to support him , then big ups to you. Chris Brown did more damage than anything. The best thing he could have done through this entire ordeal was just to lay low, do his community service and re-surface three or four years from now when all of this has blown over.

Cory, you really make me sick! You guys who judge other men are ridiculous! Y’all are quick to call a man gay if he is sensitive or quick to bash on him for hitting a woman. I wonder what you think of T.I. for cheating on his “fiance” so many times, Snoop Dogg for cheating on his wife all the time, and Lil Wayne for having all of those baby mamas. None of them respect their women and degrade them and I don’t hear no man bashing them! You are a loser and very immature. Just because you wouldn’t hit a girl, even if she attached you, doesn’t mean that makes you any better than a man who would. Now we don’t know what Rihanna did, but she admitted to throwing a damn bottle and fighting her brothers when she was a teen so I’m pretty sure she put her hands on him first. I’m sure you’re no Angel yourself. I would like to know what skeletons you have in your closet!
Anyway, Chris really pissed me off with this interview; he shouldn’t have done it. Now people won’t live it down. It was a waste of time and he did come of as being kinda uneducated. I am not a fan of Chris Brown music, I couldn’t stand hearing him on the radio before this, but I’m just hear to support him for now because he made a mistake and I’m tired of people comitting sins but thinking that just because their sin isn’t “as bad” as another, they have room to talk. You have pre marital sex, babys born out of wed lock, drug usage (includes weed) getting drunk, cheating on your wife…. ALLL OF YOU have comitted these things and still think you have room to talk when in reality, you have no room to judge. Everyone needs to get over it.

I didn’t feel good or bad about the interview, as I always felt, there was no need for him to do it in the first place. An interview is the LAST thing you want to do [when you were wrong] in a situation like this, and I have no idea who put him up to it or who thought it would be a good idea. At this point what is there left to speak about? He’d be a fool to sit and tell what happened blow by blow, and I don’t think he would even if he didn’t want to out of respect for her. I felt sorry for him because he seemed nervous; it came off forced and a bit rehearsed. He has nothing to explain or to prove at this point. Everything was put out there–from police leaks of the photo to her accounts to the police of what went on–and he was punished for it. People want him to give an account of what happened, for what? To hear him say it himself? We all know what happened.
I don’t know what level people want him to attain to show how ‘remorseful’ or ’sorry’ he is, but I think he’s gone through enough as it is having to live with something like this in the public eye and with such scrutiny. We’re all people, and I’m sure anyone on here has f*cked up once in their life to the point where it was a mistake that everyone immediate to you was aware them. It’s an embarrassing and horrible feeling. Now take that a million fold when you’re a celebrity. That definitely takes strength because I know I wouldn’t be able to handle it.
But with respect to Rihanna, I’m really just concerned about her violations as a domestic abuse victim, and why, or better yet when her people are going to step up to the plate and start filing suits against the LAPD and TMZ because leaking that photo was totally in the wrong. Her rights as a young woman were violated twice in this situation and the ’she just wants it to go away’ response they keep giving is quite sad to me…

I don’t think he did himself any justice last night by doing this interview since he couldn’t man up and even admit to the two other incidents him and Rihanna got into it.
I personally believe he wouldn’t talk because the real reason he beat her wasn’t one he wants to fully discuss since it would further damage his career. Nice job CB for making yourself look even stupider. And who told him to wear that ugly ass bow tie?

i agreed with him…if the night was so traumatic and everything for her - the “victim” - it would have been rude and distasteful for him to give a blow by blow and essentially make her relive the situation…he used tact. TMZ and their informants should have used a little more tact in the situations when they released those photos and the police report…they attempted to make chris look bad and i don’t think they thought about what it would have done to her…And their personal conversation over the situation shouldn’t have been discussed in detail either; somethings should remain between them and really as long as him and her have discussed it, he’s apologized to her, she has accepted his apology, he has forgiven himself, and determined what he needs to do to learn and grow from this point on is all that matters. He don’t owe America squat!
AND, realistically, had this not happened in CA all this wouldn’t have blown up into the media hoopla that it did. she didn’t press charges, the state did because it was the law. Treach beat Pepa, Bobby beat Whitney, Mack 10 beat T-Boz, and the list could go on and on; it is just that it didn’t happen in CA so if charges weren’t pressed by the victim, nothing happened. not justifying or saying it is right, but a human is a human and because he is an entertainer doesn’t mean he should be held on a pedastal to never do any wrong. this incident should not define him as a person; what he does after this incident and how he regroups and learns from it should determine if this was an isolated happening or a lifestyle choice for him.

This interview did nothing but solidify my thoughts on Chris Brown, as far as him not being sh*t. I hope he doesn’t get work in the industry for a long time!

Also it was a punk move to have his lawyer and his mom there to back him up since neither was even involved. I’ll support anybody, however Chris really didn’t help his image with this pr stunt last night in my opinion. I wish him luck though cause he’s really gonna need it in order to resurrect his career.

@55 im for one am glad he spoke out and showed face, instead of hiding like a coward. It was the right time for it. Not too many MEN that has abused there wives and girlfriends come out and admit there wrong…some dont have the balls to do that but have the balls to beat on women…crazy huh? Kudos to Chris…He spoke correct and kept him and Rihannas buisness personal. Im happy that Rihanna is a forgiving girl. May God be with them both. People need to learn something from this and move on.

@ 47, 57, & 60:
Women know how women work! You know in the heat of the moment or an argument women can and sometimes will do and say whatever they know will push buttons. In some relationships, that’s how it goes down. In my younger days in the relationship I was in, I did it constantly - everytime an arguement came up.
Picture it - you are 19 & 20 yo, you’re in the car, you come up on a text from another chick in your man phone, you go to poppin hella noise, an argument ensues, things are done and said to push buttons…she could have looked him square in the eyes and call him and his mama a B just cause she knew it would make him angry. That’s what happens when you are young, immature, and you don’t know how to fight clean.
wrong is wrong and you can’t blindly always take the woman’s side because she was abused! she should not have put her hands on him either. my mama has always told me and my sister that you don’t hit on a man and try to bank on them not hitting you back because you are a female because every man ain’t gonna let you hit him. keep your hands to yourself. i’ve slapped a boyfriend before (and i mean a scorned woman slap, not a play one)…he slammed me against the wall. should i have reported it? no because hell i hit him first; he had the bruised face, not me. he could have reported me. these things happen in young relationships because neither knows better. in no way am i promoting or justifying domestic violence or Chris’ actions, i’m just saying THE STUFF HAPPENS! some man reading this now has at one point in time during a heated argument that turned physical at least snatched a woman, shook her, or some variation of those things in order to snap her out of whatever rage she was in. why are people trying to burn him at the stake when some 30 to 40 year old is beating their wife just because they felt like it this morning?

He keep on saying “we kids, we kids”…CHRIS YO BIG ASS AIN’T NO GOTDAMN KID ANYMORE….get that through your head…..stop with the backpacks and the bow ties and shit…and nothing he said to me seemed remorseful or from the heart…he was laughing…I mean everybody make mistakes but if he trying to be mature like he said he is, he should’ve wore a suit and not no damn lightning bolt cut on the side of his head…

@67….I think it was to the extent of what he did….according to reports he punched her several times, bit her, and put her in a headlock unconsious…had he just shoved her or shook her after she hit him or whatever….. he wouldn’t even be in this situation….I’m pretty sure that first or second punch shut her up…but did he have to keep whopping her ass after his first lick?? NO…i think he was just angry and couldn’t stop…AND THAT”S WHERE IT IS A NO-NO….
and people please stop with the age…that has nothing ot do with it….he is a man now hell when you 18 and can go to the army and get your ass out mama house you grown…and you know right from wrong whether you 20 or 80…let’s just hope that he got the help that he needed and become a better MAN from this….

Wow! i cant believe he said he is still in LOVE with her.. Wow That has got to really hurt both of them.. That interview so so dumb. Chris should really go to speech class. Something terrible had to really happen that that if he didnt want to go into any details. To be honest im afraid to hear what really went on. so sad.. It really must be worst than what we think. Maybe he was F#cking his manager, or maybe Rihanna was or thought She was pregnant. Smh. & yes. I do feel his mom is weak. Ima pray for all parties involved

The interview gets a big fat yawn. DON’T do an interview if you’re not prepared to answer all questions presented to you with a truthful answer from the heart. PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED, IDIOT. Next time just shut the hell up and fade to black.
Ugh. Judge Judy said it best. “This was not domestic violence, they were not married nor or they family. This was one person violently assaulting another.”
And I can’t count how many times he said “like”!!!!
“Like” seriously? The judge should have sentenced him to get an education. He sounds so dumb and ignorant.
Lying ass mofo! His eyes were darting all over the place. Punkass should have did the interview on his OWN, be a man! Instead his lawyer has to speak on how “remorseful” he is and his mommy on the side crying crocodile tears.
I AM NOT SOLD.
