Def Jam is gearing up to release Amerie’s fourth studio album, In Love & War, which is scheduled to hit stores next Tuesday, November 3rd.
Material is surfacing as the release date draws closer, and of the tracks to leak is the synth ballad, “Red Eye,” produced by Bryan-Michael Cox, which leaked earlier this year in low quality snippet form.
The song is okay, but that picture is creepy. She looks possessed.

I’m really feeling the song. I love the beat and melody. Amerie’s delivery is good, very sexy, but could have been better. She should have added more layers to the background vocals. They sounded a bit empty.
For some strange reason, I could really see Brandy tearing this song up, especially with her background vocals all over the beat. That would be sick!
Johnta Austin did a song called “Patron” to this same beat. It’s hot too.

Actually I love Johnta Austin’s version the best. I think his is the ORIGINAL PATRON! But this song has a nice groove. Reminds of the breakdown in Heard ‘Em All which is dope!

Yes, Trey did a remake, but it didn’t come close to the original.

When I heard this song, I was saying to myself, this song has a wonderful concept, beautiful song lyrics, a soft and lovely R&B, but a bit of a hip-hop edge beat, but it’s not enough! It sounds unfinished. It has the potential to be an amazing hit, but there’s not enough with the beat. Timbaland fell off, in my opinion, but I could imagine him putting those signature hip-hop drums that get the beat poppin and get you moving along with this song. Or, the Dream and Trickey Stewart giving this a nice flowing hip-hop bass like they did with some of the songs that they recorded with Ciara on her latest flop. WTF happened B. Cox… you ran out of recording time with Amerie? BTW Amerie did much better with her vocals on this song, but she still needs to lower her tone. Think of Why Don’t We Fall In Love.

msjones go google it! Johnta Austin has a version of it that came out before Trey. Same exact lyrics, but Trey sung it better. It’s not on google cause he doesn’t have a lot of fans simple as that.(fans usually post up vids on youtube)
