However, I had big reservations about her too because I felt like she was “shoved” down our throats by a certain media and industry who were calling for her crowning like weeks after she had released her first hit “Just Dance”. — I’m like, noo, that’s too soon to make someone an icon. She’ll make her mark.

And to the person who invoked Taylor Swift’s sales, you have to realize that she’s promoted like absolute craziness in the media. Same with Miley Cyrus. Every day you’ll find a huge feature on youtube, tabloids, women magazines, 1000’s blogs and so on. The type of mass coverage they get guarantee the mass sales they obtain, It’s simple mathematics.

I agree. Lady Gaga is talented but I think that the media does shove who they want down people’s throats. They pick and choose and they know how to do it. The media can make or break you. I don’t think Taylor Swift can sing live at all she sounds a hot mess most of the time but hey her album went diamond and she gets mad exposure and that has nothing to do with her marketing. She barely promoted that album but the media made her who she was. When they get tired of you they break you and thats what happened to Britney Spears but of course she back on top now but she not the same at all. Its the people like Beyonce who have to market themselves 10x as hard to get the same exposure as the white artists because Lady Gaga hardly promoted her album either.
