This is a great song. I love the metaphors being used for love. This is the kind of music that makes you think and makes you feel. (If you have been through anything in life). Some people on this site won’t get it because they aren’t willing to give the song a chance just because it’s Rihanna. Good music is good music regardless of who is singing it. What I will say is that it really gets on my nerves when people like you are constantly trying to put blame on others instead of taking personal responsibility for your own children. Why would you even expect a 21 year old pop star (or any other entertainer) to be a role model for your children? Her job is to sell records. Not to raise, influence, or impact your children to the point of having them want to emulate what she sings about in her songs. Parents need to be the ones molding the minds of their kids. If that means turning off the TV and radio and getting them to read a book then that’s what needs to happen. There will always be outside influences trying to take children down the wrong path. It’s up to you to prevent that. Not Rihanna. Maybe if people like you put as much effort into getting involved as you put into commenting on CL some of those kids you talked about could be helped.
Also if you know so much about kids and suicide you also know that the reason someone actually takes his/her own life has very little to do with what music they listen to & that depression is, at least in part, an inherited condition involving abnormalities in neurotransmitter functioning in the brain. So like I said before..go educate yourself. If you are working with at risk children and don’t know wth you are talking about you may be doing more harm than good.
