Well said La_Verite….you made a good point regarding the ‘european’ hair. The comments are generally favorable when she wears the more afrocentric styles, and I agree, she does look better. I happen to think she looks radiant in this picture. Funny, it’s generally the women who tear her down while the majority of men who comment think she’s the shit (my man included, but that’s cool cuz I feel the same way about her man!)

#52 Baller’s bitch, If you can’t figure out what something means then maybe you are the idiot.

#57 Please feel free to list this “abundance of beautiful dark skinned black women” who make as much money or get as much press in the black community, we don’t even need to mention Hollywood, as Halle, Beyonce, Rihanna, or any other light skinned woman. We always hear people say it’s not about skin color, yet all the evidence says otherwise.

After glancing at this, I felt so brainwashed. I’m used to seeing thin/slim/glamored/airbrushed black women on magazine covers that for a second, I thought she looked terrible. [sigh] I hate the way modern media has that sort of influence on my preferences. ANYWAYS, Serena’s body is wicked (in a good way).

I love Serena…I’ve always thought that she has one of the sickest bodies in the game and her tennis record proves how quick she can move and remain thick at the same time. She’s never going on any type of starvation diets or anything. I wish they had put her in some shorts in a tank though and let her hold her racket in my opinion. I’m not a fan of nudity for a sports magazine. I’m not feeling the hair…I like when she wears the black curly hair.

THERE ARE LOTS OF BEAUTIFUL DARK SKINNED WOMEN TO ME
NAOMI, NATURI, LAURYN HILL, KENYA MOORE, SERENA COULD ALL GET IT.
SHE LOOKS GREAT TO ME. SHE’S AN ATHLETIC WOMAN. I’M GLAD SHE’S SHOWING HER BODY. MAYBE SHE WILL INSPIRE MORE WOMEN TO WORK OUT INSTEAD OF WALKING AROUND 75 AND 80 LBS OVERWEIGHT THINKING YOU ARE A SEXY AND CALLING YOURSELF BBW, JUICY, THICK, ETC.

  6. ladylove

Can’t believe Common would hit that.

  9. PHILLY__STAND UP...

AS RICH AS SHE IS ……WHY DIS-RESPECT HERSELF LIKE THAT?

  10. PHILLY__STAND UP...

WHY REDUCE YOURSELF TO A PIECE OF A SS?…..

GIRLs DO THAT WHEN THEY HAVE TOOO..

….SHE HAS $$$ ALREADY ….why is she nude?

  11. lala

LOL @ DWIGHT HOWARD COVERING UP HIS BREASTS IN HIS COVER SHOT!

    LLLLLLMMMMMMAAAAAOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. jerzeeyup

I agree..natural hair would suit her better…the hair makes the pic look unbalanced…

@la_verite. If you are not one of the “SOME” Then my comments don’t apply to you. OK? I’m not suggesting that all black people should think that someone like
Serena is beautiful because she is black. I only hope that people ask themselves honestly, why is she not beautiful to me?

Simply personal preference? Has that preference been influnced by the pervasive campaign in the media to associate all things beautiful with blond hair and blue eyes?
Whatever the answer, I think it’s a question worth asking.

    kind.

  14. Stop it haters!

I think she looks amazing, not an ounce of fat anywhere. Nice white teeth and she looks happy. Lets up lift each other. America Dont have anyone else bring home championships beside this Woman and her sitter. So lets praise and encouarge her for making America releivant when it comes to tennis.
