MUSIC NEWS: JANET PREPS DANCE ALBUM / KELLY R. ALBUM NEWS / OMARION’S VIDEO SNEAK PEEK
Friday, October 23, 2009
Seems as though super producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins has sat down again with MTV.com to spill the beans about Janet Jackon’s upcoming eleventh studio album.
We knew that Janet was gearing up to release a #1’s album, led by the single, “Make Me,” this year on November 17th, but it seems as though he has some news about what’s to come next year with her next record, which is presently untitled.
“Janet is like my sister now,” Jerkins told MTV News on October 21th, at his Los Angeles recording studio.
“We definitely have this incredible chemistry, this bond — I think we musically connect, crazily. I knew it — it’s funny ’cause I predicted this. Five years ago, people used to ask me who I wanted to work with, and I was like, ‘Janet Jackson.’ And I was so passionate about that because I’ve always been a fan of her music and what her and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis have done in the past. And I felt like, knowing she wants to try new things, that I feel I can get it and I can deliver it for her,” he said. [SOURCE]
Rodney assures us that this next project will be an “emotionally driven album,” considering that Janet just lost her brother, as well as ended a seven year relationship with her long-term boyfriend, producer Jermaine Durpi. He also says you can expect some up-tempo dance tracks on the new album, it won’t have the futuristic sound we heard on her last project, 2008’s Discipline.
No official release date on when Janet’s eleventh studio album will drop, but expect it sometime at the top of next year.
KELLY ROWLAND ALBUM NEWS
Since having the #1 song in the world with David Guetta from his latest album, One Love, Kelly Rowland has been in and out of the studio and producer Rico Love took some time to sit down with Rap-Up.com.
“I’m actually going to be doing the majority of her record,” reveals the songwriter “I did three records for her album so far and she’s touring right now.”
Kelly, who hosted Bravo’s The Fashion Show, recently parted ways with Columbia Records and Music World Entertainment, is said to be working out a new deal with EMI, but no official announcement has been made.
Rowland, who is presently on tour, will not have much time for rest during the holiday season. Rico also revealed that the two will be finishing up the album, a follow-up to 2007’s Ms. Kelly, during the Christmas holiday.
OMARION’S VIDEO SNEAK PEEK
A lot of label dealings have gone on with ex-B2Ker Omarion, but it seems as though he’s got his label situation together.
He is gearing up to release the video for his first single, “I Get It In,” featuring Gucci Mane, from his third solo studio album, Ollusion, which has been pushed back to January 12th, 2010.

I READ THE WHOLE ARTICLE ON MTV ABOUT JANET & RODNEY SAYS IN MANY WORDS “VELVET ROPE PART 2″. I know people gonna get on Janet about her past 3 albums even though Damita Jo & 20 Y.O went platinum and IDJ fucked Janet over with Discipline.
She is clearly isnt gonna go anywhere and she still slays on the stage and she is a very strong woman & will forever be a Legend & Icon. I just feel the hate on Janet is soooooo 2004. But anyways say what you want. I will forever be a Janet Jackson STAN/FAN for life.

The •QUEEN•OF•DANCE• Janet Jackson I can’t wait, such a talented woman. She finally has control over her projects again, unlike 20 Y.O. and Discipline. She’s writing again, and emotionally driven. Kelly Rowland just bring it I’m 100% behind you just bring it, people are looking for you to fail so the pressure is on. Thanks again Loop always for the Janet Jackson LOVE.

The US is 97.2% Beyoncism so there is no surprise that Kelly is not #1 in the US. Michellism and Kellism have greater amount of followers over seas rather than in the US.

Janet is Janet. No one can take that from her. I can’t wait for her either.
As for O. Next!!!! Everyobdy’s jumping on the same bandwagon which is making everything sound the same. This sounds like something I’ve heard before, and that is not singing he’s tryna execute.

OMG David’s and Kelly’s song is number in several countries???? That’s amazing! I know Kelly is thrilled. I’m not much of a fan, but I’ve been rooting for her because what Matthew and Tina Knowles did to her was wrong, and I believe that Beyonce did her wrong to without even knowing. Don’t get back with a group when the hype from your success and last album didn’t die down. It was a stupid mistaken and Kelly and Michelle got degraded over it. I’m also rooting for her because she is a DARK SKINNED SISTA and what famous pop singer do you know is dark skinned? Kelly, finally you woke up and did your own thing, you see what greatness comes out of it? I hope she can finally have a successful album.
KING of Dance, Omarion, sit your a** down. Aint nobody checking for you. I don’t even hear that song on the radio. He can dance, but his dancing is too technical.
Janet Jackson, who cares? Won’t this be like her 4th “comeback?” Working with Rodney Jerkins can either be a hit or miss, and lately, they’ve been misses. Whatever… people will just hype over her because of her past career and the tragedy she went through.

I am glad to hear that Janet is dropping that futuristic mess. I just could not get with her last two albums. She had good producers but I guess that’s what she wanted to branch off into.
And Kelly… This is your spotlight!! We do not want to see Solange and Be all up in your videos!! And please not mention of how you honor and praise Bey in your interviews. She gets enough gratification… This is your time to shine EMBRACE IT!!
Omarian… How can u crown yourself king of dance? You are a COrnbALL for life!!!

I can’t wait for Janet’s new album. I have been waiting for some new Janet material. Her last album was good but I would like for Janet to go back to some of the stuff she did in the 90’s.
Kelly, I hope all will be well for you and this album. I’ve never really got into a Kelly album. This is one fish she can not hook…yet.
OMARION is coming out with a new album. Finally, thank God. I am an Omarion fan all the way. As for him calling himself the King of Dance….I think he should have kept that to himself. Like a motivational thing. The King of Dance is really Michael Jackson and will always be. Just because he is gone does not mean that that title can be taken by someone else….unless you wanna fight for it. Because at one time in other era’s people probably thought Michael was crazy for saying he was going to be the best artist in the world and you had artist like James Brown out.
People were probably like, Negro please. But anyway, excited about the new Omarion album. Video looks like it’s going to be nice, the song grew on me. Can’t wait for him to sing a ballad.

You mean Kelly has the #1 album in the world. According to the posts on Concreteloop, she didn’t exist. She was lost in Bey’s shine (somehow). Kelly understood that in order to make a true career for herself, she had to leave this country. We’re stuck on promoting images only as I continue to say in my posts. When people ask will there be another Michael Jackson, my answer is immediately no. That’s because we promote image first and talent dead last. Therefore, you have these fading stars paraded in front of you, or as I call them, fads.

I LOVE JANET, SHE ONE OF MY FAVORITE ARTIST, HOWEVER WITH ALL DUE RESPECT, SHE NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND REALIZE THAT HER HIGHEST PEAK IN HER CAREER WAS THE LATE 80′S -MID 90′S, EVERYONE HAS THEIR TIME TO SHINE, A TIME, WHERE ONE IS AT IT HIGHEST. JANET NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND HER TIME HAS PAST, THIS IS NOT TO SAY SHE DON’T HAVE ANY FANS AND WILL NOT SELL ANY RECORDS, ITS JUST TO SAY, SHE’S TRYING TO REKINDLED A TYPE OF FAME STATUS THAT SHE HAD YEARS AGO. SHE WANTS BLAME JERMAINE DUPRI FOR HER UNSUCCESS, SOMETIMES I WONDER DID SHE GET WITH JERMAINE IN HOPES OF A CAREER BOOSTER. SHE DID THE SAME WITH RENE HER, 2ND EX HUSBAND. JANET IS A MILLIONAIRE, SHE SHOULD HER OWN LABEL, LIKE LIL WAYNE. SHE BEEN IN THE GAME ENOUGH TO KNOW HOW IT WORKS, WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? OUR WORLD IS SO TECHNOLOGICAL THAT CD’S AREN’T SELLING LIKE THEY USE TO, AND IF YOU ARE R&B AND HIP HOP ONLY, YOU HAVE TO WORK EXTRA HARDER TO ACHEIVE A MILLION, WHEREAS ROCK, COUNTRY POP, AND TECHNO ALWAYS SELL MILLIONS, MAINLY BECAUSE MOST WHITE PEOPLE LISTEN TO THIS GENRE OF MUSIC, AND THERE ARE MORE WHITES IN THE WORLD THEN THE MINORITIES.
IN THIS GAME WHO CAN;T COME AVERAGE, THERE IS SO MUCH COMPETITION OUT THERE, JUST BEING ATTRACTIVE IS NOT GOING TO CUT IT. THIS IS WHY BEYONCE IS SO SUCCESSFUL, P.DIDDY, JAY-Z , RUSSEL SIMMONS AND A FEWS ARE SO SUCCESSFUL. YOU JUST CAN’T MAKE AN ALBUM AND THATS, YOU HAVE TO THINK ” OUTSIDE TEH BOX” AND CREATE OTHER BUSINESSES. THE SAME THING GOES WITH EDUCATION, BACK IN THE DAY AN ASSOCIATES DEGREE, WAS A BIG THING, NOW, AN ASSOCIATES DEGREE IS EQUIVALENT TO A HIGH-SCHOOL DIPLOMA, BASICALLY A GENERAKL STUDY. YOU DON’T GET INTO YOUR SPECIALIZING INTO YOU ARE IN YOUR MASTERS AND DOCTORAL LEVEL. THERE ARE A FEW DEGREE THAT REQUIRE ONLY AN ASSOCIATE’S DEGREE AND YOU CAN COME UP MAKING PRETTY DECENT MONEY, BUT FOR THE MOST PART A MASTER’S IS REQUIRED. I HAVE TWO MASTER’S, AND STILL GOING TO SCHOOL. I ENCOURAGE YOUNG KIDS THAT ARE 16, 17, TO GO STRAIGHT INTO TO COLLEGE, JUST THINK 10 YEARS YOU CAN BE A DOCTOR AND YOU WILL ONLY BE 26, 27, THAT IS IF YOU DON’T FAIL ANY CLASSES AND GO FULL TIME.
GET YOUR GAME UP, COMPETITION IS OUT THERE, BEING AVERAGE ISN’T JUST GOING TO CUT IT, YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE 360 , WHICH IN MY BOOK, ATTRACTIVENESS, EDUCATION, GREAT PERSONALITY, HEALTHY, AND INDEPENDENT.

Ana you are right… Janet time has come and gone. She is my favorite artist. I will always buy anything Janet Jackson because she was hot during my era… I think she will do quite well with this record, however she has never been a strong vocalist so she has no room to do slow ballads. She has to keep it moving as in dance tempos… Love u Janet !

It’s crazy how all the haters popped up at the same time.LOL!!!! Ya’ll could’ve kept that negativity. Just don’t buy their albums if ya’ll don’t like them. Janet is a legend so is Kelly by association with Destiny’s Child. She is soon to be a solo legend so get ready. As for the David Guetta comment, yes he’s well known overeas, but even he said When Love Takes Over was his biggest hit. That’s because Kelly killed the vocals on it. Her voice is not shit live, she shits live. Don’t get it twisted!!!!

@ #42, Janet doesnt need kids to be feeling her music when they can watch artist after artist recycle her music and image, just like Michael.
@ #44 Janet has a huge fanbase from back when she was on top. That is who she is making music for now. She is not looking to be Beyonce, breaking her back to reach new audiences. Janet wrote that book for her. She is knows the fans that she had from 20+ years want to hear what she has to say about her life, loosing her brother etc. Her and Jermaine were about to start their own label but that fell through when they broke up.

When is Kelly going to realize that her 15 minutes has been up sits D.C. split? Jeez. I swear her, and Janet are in the same boat. Fail, after fail, after fail, and they never pass. And does Janet even have a record deal yet? Chances are that her next album will bomb, and her fans won’t have Jermaine to blame for it, just like they did for 20 Y.O, and Discipline.
Rodney Jerkin’s??? Seriously. They could barely get a hit with that first song that was released from Discipline, which is so forgettable that I forgot the name of it. Lol.

@ALL THE YOUNG KIDS IN THIS POST NEED TO DO THEIR HOMEWORK BEFORE TRTING TO SPEAK ON A LEGEND.
An icon, a trendsetter, a businessperson, a multi-gifted artist: songwriter/producer/singer/actor/dancer. Janet burst onto the scene with her record setting album, Control. Today she possesses an unprecedented list of achievements, and remains in the forefront of her craft, a true inspiration. As an artist, Janet excites, enlightens, leads, and embraces her fans with insights into life’s meaning and our deepest feelings. Janet is ranked as one of the top ten best-selling artists in the history of contemporary music. Her musical style, choreography, lyrical exploration, and self awareness has made her one of the top artists of our time as well as a leading influence on the upcoming stars of tomorrow.
Through words and actions, she has set an example of generosity, of empowerment, of tolerance, and helped to lead efforts addressing some of society’s greatest challenges. Born Janet Damita Jo Jackson in Gary, Indiana she has accumulated the success and the stature to be addressed by just her first name, Janet.
Janet began her career at the young age of seven when she appeared at the MGM in Las Vegas with her family in 1973. This debut and her appearances beginning at the age of nine on her family’s variety show, The Jacksons, lead her to starring and supporting roles on hit sitcoms such as Good Times, Diff’rent Strokes and Fame.
At fourteen she signed her first recording deal and launched the career that would change the history and direction of performance art and music. Her first two albums Janet Jackson and Dream Street were just the beginning. Placing acting on the back burner Janet was able to focus on her passion for music. It wasn’t until her third album Control (1986) that she began to break records and set standards.
Control brought Janet into the collaborative mix of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. A relationship that created a musical fusion of pop, r&b, soul, dance, jazz, rock and rap that continues today. The new feisty sound of Janet brought accolades and praise that had not been seen before and cemented her in music history. Control won four American Music Awards out of twelve nominations -a record that she still holds-and was nominated for an Album of the Year Grammy. Control was influential in launching the musical sounds of new jack swing and expanding and developing the art of music video performance.
Her fourth album Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814 took a new look at musical integrity and the responsibilities an artist has to the audience. “I just want my music and my dance to catch the audience’s attention, and to hold it long enough for them to listen to the lyrics and what we’re saying,” said Janet of the new direction. Rhythm Nation 1814 was a socially conscious driven album that focused on the changes or lack there of occurring in society. The album’s lyrical content targeted injustice, illiteracy, crime, drugs, and racial intolerance all of which was done to a slamming beat that kept audiences intrigued and dancing. Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814 is the only album ever to launch number one hits on the Billboard Hot 100 in three separate calendar years “Rhythm Nation” (1989), “Miss You Much,” (1989) “Escapade” (1990), “Black Cat” (1990), and “Love will Never Do (Without You)” (1991). It also brought Janet her first Grammy Award for Best Long Form Music Video for “Rhythm Nation 1814.”

umm yea “Feedback” sold over a million copies alone on Itunes (with no radio airplay at all) and reached #19 on the billboard hot 100. it was her most sussessful singles since 2002.
“Feedback” was a hit single for Janet that did not get proper promotion or radio play.trust me if the radio would have played it like every other song that gets played 24-7 til you get sick of it, that song would have been #1 easy. Everyone loved “Feedback” Rodney and Janet actually work great together. cant wait for this album.

Janet’s third feature film, Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married?, in which she starred opposite Tyler Perry. Janet received an Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a feature motion picture. The film was yet another number one opener at the box office. Shortly after the films release she put out her tenth studio album Discipline, which reflected upon her personal battle with “discipline.” As one of the defining aspects of her career Janet addresses the word, the meaning, and it’s affect on her as an artist and a person.
Janet’s tenth studio album, Discipline, again served as a forum for Janet to reveal more about herself. ““The album expresses what I need to express at this moment of my life,” she says. “It says that discipline, rather than being a problem, can bring pleasure. Discipline is a key to freedom. Discipline allows me—allows all of us—to focus. And the focus must be on thoughts and feelings that nourish our physical and spiritual lives.”
Janet supported the Discipline album with her fifth concert tour—the Rock Witchu Tour. Described as a “high-voltage performance,” Janet proved again her status as the consummate performer, providing fans with an extravaganza featuring all of her hits, non-stop choreography and a cutting-edge production.
Janet continues to focus on speaking out and giving back. Several of her tours have raised money for charities such as the Cities in Schools, and America’s Promise. She has supported the Watts Willowbrook Boys & Girls Club of America, the Starlight Foundation, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, A Place Called Home providing after school programs in South Central LA, the American Foundation for AIDS Research, S.O.S. Children’s Villages in South Africa, Cartier’s Love Bracelet Program benefiting OCNA and sponsored an Airlift of Food and Medical supplies to famine-stricken Rwanda. Janet established the Rhythm Nation Scholarship with the UNCF and has assisted countless students striving to meet their educational goals.
She has been honored with many Humanitarian Awards due to her intense dedication to helping others. Recent honors reflecting the range of her involvement in charitable and social causes include the 2008 Humanitarian of the Year award from the Lisa Lopes Foundation, the 2008 Vanguard Award from GLAAD, and the 2004 Touching a Life Humanitarian and Philanthropic Award from the NBA. Janet’s efforts have also been recognized by AIDS Project LA, the Congress for Racial Equality, and by the NAACP with their Chairman’s Award.
Later this year, Janet will publish her first book, providing an intimate look at her life and how she has dealt with issues of self-esteem. Janet will reveal aspects not known before about her uniquely successful career not only in music but in television and motion pictures.
The next months and new year will also bring another film starring Janet as she joins Tyler Perry in his sequel, Why Did I Get Married Too, followed by a new album slated to released during the first quarter of 2010.
Summarizing her career and her incredibly raw albums, Janet has said, “Here I am. I’m coming on. Musically, I have it. You want it. And I’m giving it to you.” Continuing her growth as an artist and as a person Janet intriguingly states, “I’m proud to have stayed in the game and survived. And I’m proud that I’ve remained true to myself. But if you go back and listen to the music, you’ll hear how that self is always changing.”

When will you bitches learn that Janet is LEGEND! Regardless if she “flops” she still has classic music that people still know to this day. And she’s rich, successful, and has done more than the current “artists” who are ruling the airwaves today. Like she said in an interview “I’ve been where they are now”..and then some.. Will your fave continue to make music in 30 years? Will your fave be considered a trailblazer and icon? Janet is just that. While she continues to be front row at every event, you sit behind a computer and hate. I would be mad too!

People who keep saying Janet’s time is up, what’s your point? I don’t think Janet is making records with the intent of trying to bring back her level of success in the 90’s. I think Janet is making records because a. music is her passion, and B. there are still a bunch of fans who enjoy her music. Can’t wait to hear it cause i enjoyed her work with Rodney in the past.

Janet is a legend with nothing to prove, she doesn’t need to compete because SHE’S ALREADY WON! The most successful black woman in the music business. She can just make music for her fans to have fun with.

It’s a damn shame while white ppl cherish their Queen Madonna, we can’t do the same for our Queen Janet. IDK Y she gets all this hate. What did she do so wrong. We all know Janet is a Legend and Icon. Of-course she’s not in her peak anymore.. Like Duhh.. Look at Beyonce. Beyonce is in her peak now. She’s enjoying it right now, cause we all know by 2013-2015, Beyonce will get the same hateration Janet is getting now. 2nd. Why do ppl say Janet needs to give up.. Bitch, Y don’t you give up! Janet is a Jackson. She aint going no where. She is still selling records. The #’s she’s making today would be consider Diamond to other artist, but it’s because it’s JANET JACKSON ppl is use of her making more. Anyways, can’t wait for her new album. HollA!

I agree Anthony, black people kill me sometimes. Why are we talking about a Janet comeback….SHE NEVER LEFT, she stays revalent.
Making music is about that, making music, it’s the art not the business. I don’t care how many albums sell or don’t sell, good music is good music bottom line. Janet changed they industry, how many bitches would be here if she didn’t, no respect for the woman. Quite honestly I don’t like the direction music has turned lately, I find myself listening to old school more now.

This pisses me off in regards to Kelly… why if you experienced all this sucess doin a dance track would you say oh yeah im gonna experiment with that on my new album but then go right back to ho hum middle of the road r&b songwritters like rico love??? beyonce lost me after she got a taste of the freemasons and claimed she was gonna do a dance album produced primarily by them and timbaland…..and neither showed up on fierce….stop pretending to strech your boundaries if you always run back to mommy

I just want to say I agree with the people who say Janet’s a legend with nothing to prove. Janet’s a talented singer (some might differ, but i love her soft voice), dancer, and actor. Yall can have the ‘fashion icons” I’ll take Janet any day.
It’s good to see Kelly having some success. She’s touring and putting herself out there which is always good.
Omarion….you fell off when B2K fell off
