Not a Jay Z fan….but Alicia made this song…not from New York..so it really doesn’t get me all excited like it does Lil Mam etc…
The video was great! Alicia can sang her ass off. The video really gave me a feel of what NYC was all about. For all yall thats making a big deal about Alicia being a homewrecker, and Beyonce should watch her man. I could have swore this was just a video about NYC, both people are from there. So hate on Alicia for some shit that yall dont even have the facts about.. Ya’ll Beyonce fans are crazy as hell for real. No matter what post it is yall have to bring this chic up some type of way uh.. lol
OK, first I must say if Alicia didn’t offer such a great hook, I probably wouldn’t listen to this song. And I know the concept is surrounding the city but I feel like there is so much more that could’ve been done to make it more appealing visually…I mean watching it was just boring. I kinda want Jay-Z to just stop now, and am probably the only NYer who feels as such, but hey, I believe his time is up.

There are fools on here, like yourself, who are waiting for Jay-Z or some of these other top artists to have a press conference in which they acknowledge that they worship Satan lol. That is not going to happen because Satan’s power is in deception and subterfuge. This is why in ancient Rome, he was known as “Saturn” or “the hidden one”.
All that aside; just from a basic perspective, the praising and glorification of a city, or hood, or project is so tired and stupid.

This video is so damn boring and cliché. No story line, no amazing concept, just a regular ol video. I like the song, but the video sucks. Alicia looks stupid hunching over the piano. She looks so awkward like she’s disabled.

For those people saying that people who don’t think the video is all that are simply not able to enjoy a video without booty shaking. Or those implying people are simple, calm down. I’m from NY and I understand the song is about NY. That’s why we New Yorkers love it. But, the video is boring. He shows the NY skyline way too much in the song. All you see is quick images of the names of streets, some women on the train, who look like they were trying to hide from the camera. I just think NY is such a great city, with great architecture, he could have featured more images of the city, that were less redundant. Perhaps, he could have shown actual people on the streets of NY, not pictures, maybe wearing NY hats, t shirts, singing some of the hook. I don’t know, I’m not a video producer. I just know the video was boring. Remember, Jay Z has like a thousand videos showing the NY skyline (for eg Lost One) Plus, we’ve seen Alicia in time square before in the my boo video with Usher. Time Square is not the epitome of NY. I think the video needed more people. People make up the city of NY too. I would have liked to see something more personal, like Common’s “the people” video. Maybe it was the editing of the video. Run this town is a way better video. It keeps your attention for the entire time. Although I like the song, Empire state of mind more.
