Overrated.

This video is so damn boring and cliché. No story line, no amazing concept, just a regular ol video. I like the song, but the video sucks. Alicia looks stupid hunching over the piano. She looks so awkward like she’s disabled.

I love the song, but the video is a bit of a snooze.

For those people saying that people who don’t think the video is all that are simply not able to enjoy a video without booty shaking. Or those implying people are simple, calm down. I’m from NY and I understand the song is about NY. That’s why we New Yorkers love it. But, the video is boring. He shows the NY skyline way too much in the song. All you see is quick images of the names of streets, some women on the train, who look like they were trying to hide from the camera. I just think NY is such a great city, with great architecture, he could have featured more images of the city, that were less redundant. Perhaps, he could have shown actual people on the streets of NY, not pictures, maybe wearing NY hats, t shirts, singing some of the hook. I don’t know, I’m not a video producer. I just know the video was boring. Remember, Jay Z has like a thousand videos showing the NY skyline (for eg Lost One) Plus, we’ve seen Alicia in time square before in the my boo video with Usher. Time Square is not the epitome of NY. I think the video needed more people. People make up the city of NY too. I would have liked to see something more personal, like Common’s “the people” video. Maybe it was the editing of the video. Run this town is a way better video. It keeps your attention for the entire time. Although I like the song, Empire state of mind more.
