Rock ‘n roll sensation Janelle Monáe has finally graced us with some new material after the release of her first EP, Metropolis, Suite I: The Chase.
The new track is “Come Alive (The War of Roses).” The funky tune was produced Nate “Rocket” Wonder and written by Monáe, herself and Chuck Lightning of the Wondaland Arts Society. This is just a taste of what’s to come on her full length album, Metropolis, which is expected to drop at the top next year.

im not a fan, and im open to every kind of music. unfortunately this track did not showcase her vocal skills. it was all yelling.
Loved her first EP, so im really looking forward to a full album from her.
Wasn’t really feeling this track from her though, much more rock than her other songs.

This is the only real rock inspired piece I’ve heard from her so Brian, you can cut the “rock n roll sensation” crap out. I digress; it was okay. I like the energy and lyrics but it isn’t something I would bump enough to put on my iPod. I’m still looking forward to her album tho because I know she’s talented and one can only hope for the best (^_^)

They can scream and yell for no reason, like this Monae bish or they can wear idiotic clothes that frankly make them look comical, like Rihanna and because we are so dumb we praise them for being “fresh”. No, they are not “fresh” – they look and sound like isht.
Ha. I haven’t heard such chromatically agile runs and trills in a whistle register since Sarah Vaughn circa 1950. Janelle Monae is a vocal beast and she just blew my mind when she hit the 4th octave screech.

I love this new song! Man, I really appreciate how “weird” she is. People that do great works are always viewed that way, so I say keep going forth and being creatively free JM. She doesn’t feed the music machine and that comes through in the originality of her music. The way they blend genres so seemlessly at the Wondaland Arts Society is amazing. JM kills, period. Take a serious look at this woman. I can’t wait for the new album to drop!
