NEW MUSIC: NE-YO - “NEVER KNEW I NEEDED

Thursday, October 15, 2009

♫ Ne-Yo - Never Knew I Needed
ALTERNATE LINK

Check out this new track from Ne-Yo, which is supposed to appear on the original motion picture soundtrack for Disney’s feature animated film, The Princess & the Frog.

The new track sounds like a Stargate production, which wouldn’t be surprising, considering that he works with them frequently. The soundtrack will also include music written by Randy Newman and performed by the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

The Princess & the Frog will be the first African American Disney princess and will open in limited release in New York and Los Angeles on November 25, 2009 before expanding into wide release on December 11, 2009.

Disney channel should be sued for making this mess called a movie… The frog princess is sending HORRIBLE messages to little black girls. For one thing the Prince is WHITE or Arab…Whatever he is he is NOT BLACK. What is Disney trying to say about black men? What will little boys think when they see this movie? People please don’t support this film. If you do, you will scar your little girls brain…. your sons also!

Nice song…love Ne yo.

Anyway
I agree with what yall are saying.
The next time yall watch tv pay attention.
Notice that whenever a black person is on a show or a commercial, there is RARELY a black man and women together @ the same time.
I actually paid attention one day and it is a SPECIAL OCCASION when you see a black man and a black woman together.
Plenty of white couples but rarely a black couple.
Commercials, ads, sitcoms, movies most time never have them (black men and women) occupying the same space.
This movie is a mess. There is nothing wrong with interracial couples.
But then again there is nothing wrong with black couples.
Get it together Disney…….

I like the song, and am excited about the movie, but I have to agree with E.G Disney doesn’t know how to do a film that deal’s with Black folk w/o making one of the characters if not all be in a interracial relationship and its always Black and White, never any other races (except for the show Flash Forward which was very cool of them to do). Its like over killed to the point it starts to look like they are devaluing those who end up being in a same raced relationship. I am not against interracial relationships by far, but I am for children seeing variety of relationships that are not always interracial (Black & White). If your going to show this, which does need to be shown, don’t forget that we also date our own as well (note: they always have it where its okay to show same raced relationships with Caucasians in TV and movies but as soon as you get that token Minority they have to only date Caucasians) and both can be beautiful, stop making it one sided just to devalue what we do in our community, and in my opinion devalue the worth of a Black Woman or a Black Man. Educate but don’t eliminate or devalue relationships of all types that includes same raced relations. Just my thought.

The Song sounds like a perfect song for a Disney movie, GOOD LOOK Ne-YO.

I really think yall should promote and support the film instead of just bashing. I understand what yall saying but a least us black ppl got this. We should just be proud, go watch the movie, and make Princess & The Frog the highest selling princess movie. Sometimes black ppl kill me because they want “all black everything” but look at it….if it was black would it be better…NO probably just the same. Look at VH1 they give black ppl shows all the time….and how they act..IGNORANT. So lets jus support the film instead of bashing it ppl.

BEAUTIFUL song!

I have issues with the prince not being black, but word in Hollywood is that black couples in film aren’t as palatable (read: they don’t make as much $$) as white couples in film . . . we know this is bull, but until black hollywood powerbrokers pool their resources and create their own film distribution companies and studios, we will have to settle for what we are given . . .

So either we stay home when the film comes out, or support it . . .

# 20 LUVBUG I’m with ya on that! But first let me send my congrats to NeYo for doing his thing! He is the bomb song writer and like someone stated up top who else would write a Disney Song for a Sound Track a kid?? Get out of here with that mess. Elton John write some of the best songs for children movies and he get paid so do you NeYo and don’t worry about the crazy haters!
My thing is with ppl saying they have a problem with black couples not being shown together in major films is I rarely see it in real life. As a black women I get more play from men of other races so who are you to say that this movie don’t show a different side of black ppl?? Black men will marry a white women before they would a black women who got there kids? Do I think something wrong with that? YEAH! Do I think something wrong with a sister going out of her race and it being seen in public? NO! Because the thing is we would well Let me not speak for all, but I would prefer to be with a black man but its some fine!! and seriously more attentive men in other races that I would date and possiable marry. The last Madea movie with Taraj and Adam and Brain, Yo I’m going with Adam! He wanted to love her and the other was married and cheating on the wife to be with her. I mean what is that? Thats truely how it be sometimes. Now I do give props to my black couples who are together and going strong, but if we going to be realistic be realistic and stop acting like its always a black on black love. I’m taking my girls to see just to show them you aint got to stick to one race cause God created all of us as individuals and you can choose whatever race you want to be friends with or love for that matter. And thats the end of my 2 cents!LOL

The Prince is suppose to be of creole African descent, he is not suppose to be caucasian. If you look at pictures of him, he defintely looks like a light skinned or creole man. He kinda looks like Rick Fox to me. lol. If Disney has not directly come out and said that the Prince is not black, then I beleive he is black, cuz he is the same complexion as me and my brother, and we are definitely “black”. I can see why some people are confused, because yes, the Prince’s voice is played by a white man, but so was Aladin of middle eastern descent and Pocanhontas, of native american descent, voiced by a white woman . Yes Disney has a history of being rascist and should have provided the prince with a black man to play the voice. But I beleive that what they are trying to convey is that black people come in all complexions, from Prince Naveen’s color to Tiana’s color which i think is a great thing. I think sometimes people try to contrive something for what it is not.

Ok, I went on the web and looked up Princess and the Frog and saw the Prince for myself!

Sorry but our kids need to see a figure of a Strong Black Prince!

That’s just my opinion!

Disney waits to do a Black animation series….last. You want black families represented but you support artist who constantly sing and portray Black women as not marriage or wife material. I am seriously tired of our men portraying us as desperate women or a chick on the side.

If we continue to let our artist portray us as loose women, no baby daddies, strong women-not POWERFUL WOMEN- what do you expect out of Hollywood!

Whenever I see a certain couple…white married billionaire male…with single black female….it reminds me too much of the slave/master syndrome.

Regardless of what the latest video, artist/ entertainer, Hollywood or what ever tells us our children and our families deserve to shown as whole, married couples….a not some one’s side piece.

Disney’s princess and frog theme is what every girl wants…a prince to love, cherish, defend, marry and support her. I say go to the film and boycott all of this other garbage videos, music, etc.

It really doesn’t matter what the price look like! Did anyone care when the prince from Cinderella (Black version)was a philipino ? We should be thankful that we finally got a black princess! This is like a dream come true for little black girls all over the world.Besides, the prince is a frog damn near the whole movie so who freaking cares.

I agree go see the movie. I for one am excited to see another positive-powerful- Black female role model as the leading character. Remember Sephora -Moses’ wife-in the Prince of Egypt?

A strong man is like a mule or a pack animal…works hard can take a lot of garbage, but does not direct his future. A powerful man directs his future and influences those around him for the good of his community also a GODLY man. A powerful man is like Martin Luther King. A strong man would be Mike Tyson.

We need powerful Black images.

Disney needs to start promoting this movie if it wants it do well. I see more about Tinkerbell on the Disney Channel than this movie. Looks like this is not going to do so well, might be the first and only major motion cartoon about an African American princess.

Black women are just as bad as black men when it comes to being in relationships with whites ,you can`t just blame black males, Halle Berry ,Kelli Washingtom ,Venus Williams ,Naomi Campbell ,Garcelle Beauvais and many other black women are in relationships with whIte men.So it`s not just black men who prefer to date or marry outside their race.

I wish that people would stop stereotyping all black men .Not all black men prefer white women. I have never dated a white girl, I don`t find flat butts and pale skin to be attractive. Furthermore, there is no such thing as a white race or a arab race or a asian race ,etc. etc. , Everyone on earth , comes from black people . Whites,Asians,Arabs,Indians and all other races, have black blood in their veins.Because they all come from Blacks.,

FOR REAL?????

Thursday, October 15, 2009 /

So you’re all judging this movie before you’ve even seen it??? The movie isn’t even what this post was about. It was about the song. I am excited that Ne-Yo got an opportunity to do an original song for a Disney movie because if the song gets nominated for an Oscar (as most original Disney songs do) then he will get to perform it on the show. That would be a big deal for him and I would be excited to watch it. As far as everyone complaining about the whole “inter-racial” thing with the movie…..one question….WHY CAN”T WE EVER BE SATISFIED???? We finally get a black Disney princess and now have to bitch about her boyfriend not being “black” enough or black at all. If it was a white PRINCE main character who was in love with a black princess, everyone would be on Disney’s jock about how progressive they were. See the movie before you jump to all of these conclusions and stop perpetuating negativity about a subject in the movie that might not even exist. Because TRUST, we need to see this movie. Everyone should see this movie. If it doesn’t make any $$ don’t count on having another black Disney movie or any other black animated movie anytime soon. Then the non-black studio big wigs can all say “we told you so” and then you would REALLY have something to bitch about.

Strong and Powerful is all the same to me! Im very happy to see we finally have a black princess for our little girls to see, but really my mother in my eyes is my
Black Princess or Queen for that matter and my Father is my King!

But disney is making it hard for a little girl who have not had a father around to just look at that film and say oh the Prince is Black! sorry but Disney is sending out the wrong message to our little girls like “White is Right” and that we can only find happiness in a White Prince! that is a lie if I ever saw one!

To do justice to the film I think the Prince should be darker so that it won’t be no mis -understanding that the Princess is in love with a Black Prince, all I’m saying is, you can clearly see that the Princess is BLACK, so make it clear that the Prince is BLACK also!

IT’S NOT JUST IN MOVIES..THE NEWSCASTERS, ON COMMERCIALS, IN VIDEOS, ETC. YOU HARDLY EVER SEE A BLACK MAN AND BLACK WOMAN TOGETHER AND IN A NON-DYSFUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIP.

IT IS A SUBLIMINAL MESSAGE BEING SENT OUT. THE BLACK FAMILY UNIT IS A THING OF THE PAST.

ERIQ LASALLE THE BLK DOCTOR ON E.R. REFUSED TO BE PAIRED WITH A NON-BLACK LOVE INTEREST ON THE SHOW SO THEY GOT RID OF HIM. ALL BECAUSE HE QUESTIONED THEM BY SAYING..”WHY CAN’T MY CHARACTER BE IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH A BLACK WOMAN?” THEY WROTE HIM RIGHT OUT OF THE SHOW.

We finally made it, and lets be honest ALLL of the male roles or princes have been white except Alladin. Hunchback of notre dam and gypsy and a white guy, Pocahontas a native American and a white guy, dont think that Disney is gunna flip the switch now. besides the guy is most likely french and they are in new orleans so it would be right that blacks and the french go together because they did thats why there is Creole. i have nieces so im going to be seeing this movie anyhow.
