NEW MUSIC: USHER - “PAPERS” + ALBUM NEWS

♫ Usher - Papers
R&B crooner Usher just released his last album, Here I Stand last year but is already ready to put on his sixth studio album. The first to leak of the material is the much anticipated, “Papers,” written and produced by Sean Garrett and Zaytoven.
The new album, tentatively titled Raymond vs. Raymond (it was originally announced that the new album would be titled Monster), is set to release December 8th, via LaFace/Jive Records. On the album, Usher is collaborating with Jermaine Dupri, Ester Dean, Jay-Z, Anthony Hamilton, Pharrell Williams and Adam Levine, just to name a few.
Very much different from Usher’s last effort, he’s told People Mag that the forthcoming album will be “racy, risky and edgy and sometimes about personal experiences.” And it’s no wonder, “Papers” was written months before Usher announced that he was filing for divorce.

The only good song he had was “My way”… that came out loooong time ago… Yall remember, Tyrese was in the video… anyway. All his songs sound the same and he is washed up… New R&B talents are up now… like Trey Songs, Jeremih…just to name a few…..

The lyrics are good, but this sounds just like any other track. He should have stayed out of them strip clubs in Vegas while recording this album.

@13..I agree mama. Love me some USHER but this is most certainly not it. But I love the fact that hes going to have my baby Anthony Hamilton on his new album, I love me some Anthony. Its funny how its stated that he wrote this album b4 his divorce, but hearing this song makes me think otherwise….like hmmm did he already know what was going to occur? which probably gave him the inspiration for this song & album.

Glad Usher is coming back fresh. Marrying Tameka was the worst thing for him to do, but glad he has moved on. He doesn’t seem like the type of man to commit to one woman just yet, cause he still wants to have fun, and he is still young so he has the right to do so. On another note, this alter-ego album concept is starting to get annoying, but I’ll still take a listen.

Exactly, lol. You beat me to it. Every one of these artists has an alter-ego now, and it’s used as the themes to their albums i.e. Beyonce’s “Sasha Fierce”, Rihanna’s “Good Girl Gone Bad”, Ciara’s “Evolution, Keyshia Cole’s “A Different Me”, “T.I vs. TIP”, etc. Nothing but pawns.

WHAT? This is straight FIRE! Aint no male out there that can SANG like Ush! These kids aint got the chops that Ush has (maybe Ne-Yo…but he cant get over trying to be a Michael clone). There is not a male r&b vocalist alive, in the industry, that can out sing Usher. I commend him on being so forthcoming, yet again, on his personal life. CLEARLY thats when he is at his best. the modern day Marvin Gaye is a troubled man. instead of tearing down this blessed and talented man, i am going to give it up to him. He deserves it. Welcome back Mr. Entertainment. They’ll be singing it and requesting it VERY soon.

@ MAURICE, 1 mo thing…….
The reason why people like Usher constantly get divorced, is because……
Usher’s so-called marriage was never real from jump.
What Usher & Tameka had was a wedding, they never had a MARRIAGE, and that’s why it didn’t last……..it wasn’t real, it was flossy, flashy & fake, just like the majority of HOLLYWEIRD……..

America is lazy. Instead of cooking a healthy meal, we go to McDonald’s drive thru. Instead of going to the mall, we shop online. Instead of making a marriage work, we “sign papers.” The beat and melodies of this song are exceptional, but the lyrics (some of which actually promote divorce) are troublesome.

Interesting perspective and I love that. There are enough songs about typical R&B topics, I like that Usher is once again using his pain to delve into real everyday issues, ie: “Confessions”. So now I’m expecting the album to be a good a one.
Decent track though initially I felt like I was hearing “Love In This Club” for a moment… which made me frown.

Divorces are common these days because people treat marriage as a game. They get married for all the wrong reasons.
to the person that said “there is not one rnb male vocalist that can sing better than Usher…that is pure comedy.

First of all this song is not promoting divorce. He’s simply stating what happened in his marriage that pushed him to the brink of divorce. He has legitimate reasons as to why they didn’t work out. It changed him completely, he abandoned his mother, he finally noticed that he was changing for the worse. How is it going to be an alter ego when it’s himself versus himself. Come one people. He’s probably referring to how he was before the marriage and what the marriage changed him into. He’s not bashing her, he’s singing about his experiences. He admits to still loving her, last time I checked you don’t bash people that you love, he’s not defaming her in any way. Usher is one of the best and no matter how much you hate it, this is going to be a hit, as will the album.

Let’s break this piece down: When a man says, “I’m dying” and “I done damn near lost my Momma, I done been through so much drama”…now that’s some heavy $#!T. We all remember when Usher fired his mother, Jonetta. Everyone on CL said he was making a big mistake and that she was the only one who had his back. So, he laid everything on the line and tried to make it work.
Unlike Bobby and Whitney is signing his papers early on. He wasn’t ready, but she probably wasn’t ready either. And, once you’ve died to one another, one preacher said, you may as well go on down to the court house and do your paperwork.
So, where does that leave “for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, til death do us part?” He flew off to Las Vegas and Tameka flew off to Brazil. He was trying to live life in the fast lane and she was trying to turn back the hands of time. A two-way train wreck on a single track.
So, why would he write a divorce song? Well, like Eminem said, “This is what I do.” I think he leveled the playing field, admitted his faults and shared in the blame. He was fair. In the end, Usher says, “All my fellows up in here, if you had enough and you ready to sign, say: I’m ready” Then, he said, “All my ladies, if you sick and tired, and you ready to sign, say I’m ready!”
When it get’s to that point, its usually a mutual disfunction. A lot of thought went into that song. “Fightin like Dogs at Six in the Morning.” “I know there’s gonna be some more $#!T tonight” Passing a car

57. Chanizzle, I think the song is promoting divorce! He’s calling for all his fellows and ladies, if they’ve had enough, they say: “I’m Ready”!
And, as far as the marrage changing him, well that’s what a marriage is suspose to do when two become one!!! The unity candle ceremony is a symbol of two indivuduals placing the flame from their seperate candle onto the third candle. At that point they look each other in the eye and blow out their individual candles.
And, the bible says “therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife…! Abandoning his mother is not the reason he and Tameka broke up. He married her for better or worse, so you can’t blame her for that. They both made it worse.
And, yes he is bashing her when he talks about the fights, boos, and impact she’s having on his image. Like he took a chance and turned his back on the world. Like he’s blaming her for turning him into the man that he thought he never would be. Oh yes, he’s bashing her. Making a song about their divorce “papers” is a bash! He’s no better than Eminem bashing Miriah about their past!
Sure, he still has the voice and he’ll make more hits, but only a certain type of women will trust a man after he airs their dirty laundry. He may not be bashing the Tameka that he loved, but he let everyone know just how he felt about the Tameka that he didn’t like!

Why is he playing the victim? We ALL have seen this go down in front of the public eye and as far as I can see, unless proven other wise, Usher is the one who f’ed that up. Mrs. Raymond was playing her position. Even damn near killed herself to live up to what her husband wanted from her. USHER you’re a chump for this one. Now if he would’ve come back like,’OKAY I GOT MARRIED AND I WAS STILL A WHORE’ I’d buy it, but Im not feeling the ‘woe is me’ approach to a marriage he f’ed up. Creeping around town with this one and that one, and then 2days after u hit it, u serv her papers…. thats not a man bruh, thats a coward…. FAIL….

61. So did you leave your parents when you got married, or are you going to?? Probably not. His mother was his support system and he realized that once he did what he did.
I’m not at all justifying his actions because I don’t believe in divorce, I just think everyone here is judging him when no one actually knows what really went down. As far as the fights and what not he did not once say they were her fault. He acknowledged both of their flaws in the song. Marriages are suppose to change people for the better, not worse. His obviously did the latter. Tomeka is probably just as hurt, if not more hurt than he is about the entire ordeal, she just can’t make a song about it because she can’t sing. This is the way the man vents, let the man vent.
I see where you’re coming from but we can’t just jump the gun when no one knows exactly what happened, it’s all speculation as far as I’m concerned.

I`m feeling this song,I can relate to the lyrics, they are deep and not just kiddie surface stuff or shallow.,it`s grown-up music.I give props to Usher because he is one of the few artists who is trying to act his age and accept the fact that he is a man now,he isn`t trying to be or dress like a teen-ager like Jay-z,in timbs and sweat pants and a hoodie that`s two sizes too small.

USHER IS ATTEMPTING TO GET PEOPLE INTERESTED IN THIS ALBUM THE WAY HE DID WITH CONFESSIONS. THE PROBLEM IS NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR ABOUT HIS MARRIAGE TO TAMEKA BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE DON’T LIKE HER. CHILLI HAD FANS OF HER OWN SO PEOPLE WANTED TO KNOW WHAT WENT DOWN…IN THIS CASE NOT SO MUCH. NO ONE CARES.

62. Ace,
That was the real trump card you just played! I agree with you. Just cause he’s ready to sign the papers don’t mean he’s a man who did all he could. He had plenty of warning signs to pass on Tameka! His mother told him to pass. She was older with kids of her own. He was at the top of the game, so I’m sure the agents and managers all discussed marriage with him.
Usher told his story in a song like Dave Letterman talking about his affair as a comedian. The whole audience was cracking up…until they had a chance to think about it. And, even then there were some die-hards who could see no wrong. Usher has his fans saying, ‘this is gonna be a hit’ and ‘he sure can tell the story about life’. He can do no wrong. He’s completely innocent in their eyes.
Usher and R. Kelly can perform their butts off, but they got issues like the Browns…(Bobby and Chris). Usher tried to confess what he was all about, but when he tried to overcome, he failed. His won’t be the first star missing from the walk of fame.
