NEW MUSIC: USHER – “PAPERS” + ALBUM NEWS

♫ Usher – Papers

R&B crooner Usher just released his last album, Here I Stand last year but is already ready to put on his sixth studio album. The first to leak of the material is the much anticipated, “Papers,” written and produced by Sean Garrett and Zaytoven.

The new album, tentatively titled Raymond vs. Raymond (it was originally announced that the new album would be titled Monster), is set to release December 8th, via LaFace/Jive Records. On the album, Usher is collaborating with Jermaine Dupri, Ester Dean, Jay-Z, Anthony Hamilton, Pharrell Williams and Adam Levine, just to name a few.

Very much different from Usher’s last effort, he’s told People Mag that the forthcoming album will be “racy, risky and edgy and sometimes about personal experiences.” And it’s no wonder, “Papers” was written months before Usher announced that he was filing for divorce.

Usher’s trying hard to get that lost swagga back.

  2. Educated Goon

All his songs sound the same. I’m glad Tameka taking his “papers” lol…. you finna be broke homie

  3. javonscott

    YES! CAN’T WAIT

  4. Demar

Raymond vs. Raymond? Interesting? What’s up with the “alter-ego’ gimmick?

  5. Auna Rose

Usher is coming back!!!! This is hot

  6. tayvon

I THINK WE ALL KNOW WHO THIS SONG IS ABOUT

ANYWAYS I LOVE THE SONG CANT WAIT TILL HIS NEXT ALBUM

  7. bryant ( aka trey songz bottom lip )

LOL @ these lyrics. “I know it’s you I love, but I also know its you I don’t like..” LMAO. WTF.

  8. Coffeebrown

He kinda went at Tameka in that song but I guess he has some stuff to get off his chest. I really wish their marriage would have survived.

  9. Educated Goon

Who cares Usher is coming back? He is GARBAGE!

The only good song he had was “My way”… that came out loooong time ago… Yall remember, Tyrese was in the video… anyway. All his songs sound the same and he is washed up… New R&B talents are up now… like Trey Songs, Jeremih…just to name a few…..

  10. bryant ( aka trey songz bottom lip )

    @Educated Goon

LOL Dang, tell em why you mad.

  11. joe

I liked Here I Stand, but this heat makes me think he will top it.

  12. Im sorry Ursha, N E X T!

The lyrics are good, but this sounds just like any other track. He should have stayed out of them strip clubs in Vegas while recording this album.

I guess we are never going to get songs like Let it burn or confessions anymore.

  13. BLACK IS GLAMOUR

@13..I agree mama. Love me some USHER but this is most certainly not it. But I love the fact that hes going to have my baby Anthony Hamilton on his new album, I love me some Anthony. Its funny how its stated that he wrote this album b4 his divorce, but hearing this song makes me think otherwise….like hmmm did he already know what was going to occur? which probably gave him the inspiration for this song & album.

  14. FLORIDA_BWOY

CLEARLY…THIS SONG IS ABOUT HIS EX-WIFEY..ITS AAIGHT, LETS SEE WHAT ELSE HE BRINGS TO THE TABLE

  15. se

I must admit,Usher looks good in this picture!

  16. Keesha

I love it! Usher kept it 100 on this new joint, man!. I’m just so glad he’s back!

  17. BEN

Glad Usher is coming back fresh. Marrying Tameka was the worst thing for him to do, but glad he has moved on. He doesn’t seem like the type of man to commit to one woman just yet, cause he still wants to have fun, and he is still young so he has the right to do so. On another note, this alter-ego album concept is starting to get annoying, but I’ll still take a listen.

  18. BARBIE *THE REAL ONE*

THIS SONG IS BETTER THEN THAT CHRIS BROWN CRAP

  19. SUGA SWEET

NOW THAT’S HOT!!!! ABOUT TIME USHER… THAT’S WHAT WE BEEN WAITING FOR… DAMN… I GUESS A RELATIONSHIP GOOD OR BAD WILL BRING MUSIC…

    I WANT TO HEAR A LIL MORE OF THE ALBUM… THAT’S A GR8 INTRO…

  20. HEAVILY MEDICATED 4 UR SAFETY

    It’s aight……..Nothing special, ain’t nothing I ain’t heard b4, but it’s aight, whatever.

    I ain’t a hater, I’m just saying……..

  21. Chi Queen

i think its deep and it will defiantly catch on if you not ALREADY feelin it.. i personally am interested in hearing his new music because i know its gonna reflect where he is now and HIS opinions and truths from what he has been up to which for some reason im interested in even though i kinda fell off his trail when he got married and did HERE I STAND.. i think it will be a quality album and i love Usher… just my opinion

  22. JUDAH

    @Demar

Exactly, lol. You beat me to it. Every one of these artists has an alter-ego now, and it’s used as the themes to their albums i.e. Beyonce’s “Sasha Fierce”, Rihanna’s “Good Girl Gone Bad”, Ciara’s “Evolution, Keyshia Cole’s “A Different Me”, “T.I vs. TIP”, etc. Nothing but pawns.

  23. so

#23 evolution ain’t have no alter ego

  24. BARBIE *THE REAL ONE*

    WILL THATS USHER’S LAST NAME

  25. leslie

omg omg omg hot hot hot !!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. hellifiknow

    well, i liked it!

  27. The Latifah

I can’t get enough of this joint! Seriously!

  28. REAL

    It’s a NO for me!

  29. MissDva

    Tacky Tacky Tacky

  30. Giselle

The more I listen to it, I really really like it. I hope this album is better than the last…

  31. prettycocoaeyes

I love this sound. Usher does seem to use his relationship for album material lol.

  32. ULISES

I really don’t like it; I think he already had his time to shine. I’m not sure that this CD will be better than the other one. I don’t think he’ll have the success of his “Confessions” era once more.

  33. D.Marie

Why does he always need a damn publicity stunt to sell an album just put out the music and cut the bs.. Dont like the song anyway…

  34. maurice

I have a question guys and girls: Why has divorce become common?

  35. D.Marie

@34 because people dont honor their vows and blame everybody else for their problem like usher’s ass…

  36. HEAVILY MEDICATED 4 UR SAFETY

    @JUDAH,

    I get what ur saying,
but EVOLUTION has nothing 2 do with alter-egos. Evolution is about changing & evolving into a different more better person. Ciara named her album “EVOLUTION,” because she was GROWING & CHANGING, coming into her grown woman,
    i;e “EVOLUTION”

  37. KIDDO

    @34 MAURICE

That’s a good question! it’s like people get married just to get divorced! it’s crazy!

Anyway I like Usher but his songs are becoming a bit boring and predictable!

  38. YEAHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I like this song. >>>>>>>>>>Raymond vs. Raymond is coming

  39. GirlBye

@23 Evolution didn’t have a alter ego you must have meant Fantasy Ride since her alter ego was Super C but when did Keyshia get a alter ego their wasnt one on A Different Me either

  40. HEAVILY MEDICATED 4 UR SAFETY

@ GISELLE, don’t hold your breath.

    I cosign D.MARIE & MAURICE 1000%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank yall soOo much for that :) !

  41. septim23

WHAT? This is straight FIRE! Aint no male out there that can SANG like Ush! These kids aint got the chops that Ush has (maybe Ne-Yo…but he cant get over trying to be a Michael clone). There is not a male r&b vocalist alive, in the industry, that can out sing Usher. I commend him on being so forthcoming, yet again, on his personal life. CLEARLY thats when he is at his best. the modern day Marvin Gaye is a troubled man. instead of tearing down this blessed and talented man, i am going to give it up to him. He deserves it. Welcome back Mr. Entertainment. They’ll be singing it and requesting it VERY soon.

  42. So Far Gone

This is wayyyyyyyyyyy better than chris browns new single transformer. That song is atrocious. This is real music, personal experiences bring out your best music and this was a good choice for a single. Usher is definately back. Haters have no say cause this song is gonna be #1 on billboard regardless!

  43. CARMELHOTTIE

bashing your x wife to put yourself on a pedal stool… dam ursher you get around a applaude for this one. if you really loved that girl you would put her on blast like that. you were not doing it when you were married. I DONT CARE WHAT HAPPEN IN THEIR MARRIAGE SHE IS A WOMAN AND IF SHE TRULY LOVED THIS MAN THIS SONG WOULD BE VERY HURTFUL…

DONT LIKE THIS SONG AT ALL TALKING ABOUT YOUR X. TO MAKE YOU LOOK GOOD THIS IS A NO NO IN MY BOOK

  44. JAZZY P

Ursh better bring it this time around..dont really care for the song..

  45. Ms. T.

    1. He does not look good in this photo.
    2. Im glad he is getting a divorce because something seemed wrong about that union.
    3. This song is meh w/e

    That is all.

  46. mrs. sk8board P (ak & bk stan)

Usher tryna sell records this time around. the song is alright

  47. Uhnonymis

#23. Good Girl Gone Bad and A Different Me didn’t have alter egos either…u r reaching man. Just because the title is Raymond vs. Raymond doesn’t mean it’s an alter-ego. He could just be talking about the battle within himself.

  48. Sheez-Da-Truth

usher still got it. I just heard this song on the radio and I like it.

  49. HEAVILY MEDICATED 4 UR SAFETY

    @ MAURICE, 1 mo thing…….

The reason why people like Usher constantly get divorced, is because……
Usher’s so-called marriage was never real from jump.
What Usher & Tameka had was a wedding, they never had a MARRIAGE, and that’s why it didn’t last……..it wasn’t real, it was flossy, flashy & fake, just like the majority of HOLLYWEIRD……..

  50. joe

    @ MAURICE

America is lazy. Instead of cooking a healthy meal, we go to McDonald’s drive thru. Instead of going to the mall, we shop online. Instead of making a marriage work, we “sign papers.” The beat and melodies of this song are exceptional, but the lyrics (some of which actually promote divorce) are troublesome.

  51. Deann Dmere

    It’s decent..not bad at all.

  52. columbia06

I was wondering when somebody would comment how TERRIBLE he looks in that photo. Please don’t tell me its new….LMAO. I didn’t even recognize him.

*going to listen to the song now*

  53. theComplex

Interesting perspective and I love that. There are enough songs about typical R&B topics, I like that Usher is once again using his pain to delve into real everyday issues, ie: “Confessions”. So now I’m expecting the album to be a good a one.

Decent track though initially I felt like I was hearing “Love In This Club” for a moment… which made me frown.

  54. columbia06

    Naw….I don’t like this….lmao.

Ugh @ Sean Garett voice on this. I’ve always thought he was a terrible vocalist, but his songwriting is getting kinda weak too.

  55. peacekeeper

Divorces are common these days because people treat marriage as a game. They get married for all the wrong reasons.

to the person that said “there is not one rnb male vocalist that can sing better than Usher…that is pure comedy.

  56. la_verite

    The cigar is…lame.

His whole image wreaks of “tries too hard.” It doesn’t come naturally.

  57. Chanizzle

First of all this song is not promoting divorce. He’s simply stating what happened in his marriage that pushed him to the brink of divorce. He has legitimate reasons as to why they didn’t work out. It changed him completely, he abandoned his mother, he finally noticed that he was changing for the worse. How is it going to be an alter ego when it’s himself versus himself. Come one people. He’s probably referring to how he was before the marriage and what the marriage changed him into. He’s not bashing her, he’s singing about his experiences. He admits to still loving her, last time I checked you don’t bash people that you love, he’s not defaming her in any way. Usher is one of the best and no matter how much you hate it, this is going to be a hit, as will the album.

  58. Meat

Let’s break this piece down: When a man says, “I’m dying” and “I done damn near lost my Momma, I done been through so much drama”…now that’s some heavy $#!T. We all remember when Usher fired his mother, Jonetta. Everyone on CL said he was making a big mistake and that she was the only one who had his back. So, he laid everything on the line and tried to make it work.

Unlike Bobby and Whitney is signing his papers early on. He wasn’t ready, but she probably wasn’t ready either. And, once you’ve died to one another, one preacher said, you may as well go on down to the court house and do your paperwork.

So, where does that leave “for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, til death do us part?” He flew off to Las Vegas and Tameka flew off to Brazil. He was trying to live life in the fast lane and she was trying to turn back the hands of time. A two-way train wreck on a single track.

So, why would he write a divorce song? Well, like Eminem said, “This is what I do.” I think he leveled the playing field, admitted his faults and shared in the blame. He was fair. In the end, Usher says, “All my fellows up in here, if you had enough and you ready to sign, say: I’m ready” Then, he said, “All my ladies, if you sick and tired, and you ready to sign, say I’m ready!”

When it get’s to that point, its usually a mutual disfunction. A lot of thought went into that song. “Fightin like Dogs at Six in the Morning.” “I know there’s gonna be some more $#!T tonight” Passing a car
