♫ Usher – Papers
R&B crooner Usher just released his last album, Here I Stand last year but is already ready to put on his sixth studio album. The first to leak of the material is the much anticipated, “Papers,” written and produced by Sean Garrett and Zaytoven.
The new album, tentatively titled Raymond vs. Raymond (it was originally announced that the new album would be titled Monster), is set to release December 8th, via LaFace/Jive Records. On the album, Usher is collaborating with Jermaine Dupri, Ester Dean, Jay-Z, Anthony Hamilton, Pharrell Williams and Adam Levine, just to name a few.
Very much different from Usher’s last effort, he’s told People Mag that the forthcoming album will be “racy, risky and edgy and sometimes about personal experiences.” And it’s no wonder, “Papers” was written months before Usher announced that he was filing for divorce.
I always thought Tameka had “something” on Usher which is why he agreed to marry her. She was part of his backroom camp and probably saw a lot of stuff that he would never want to get out to his fan. I always believed this marriage was a “arrangment for damage control”. I remember reading about high profile male stars in the 40s and 50s like James Dean, Montgomery Cliff and Steve McQueen having to “give in” to powerful gay directors and producers in order to get choice roles and put their career on the fast track. I believe I read that Steve McQueen looked at these “favors” as a necessary evil but was not happy about it and never, ever wanted it to “leaked” out to the public especially with the type of roles he use to play. A lot of that information stayed buried until they past away and old girlfriends, actors, actresses put them on blast in their books. And some old hollywood actors were gay but was encouraged by the studio heads to marry or it would ruin their career. Just something to thing about………the “casting couch” was alive and well back then and it the same way in the music business today, which is also dominated by a lot of powerful gay men. (and for those non-history buffs – if you don’t know what the “casting couch is” google it.
