Over the weekend, Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Kandi Burruss‘ former fiancé, Ashley ‘AJ’ Jewell, was killed during an argument in Atlanta, Georgia.
Kandi released an official statement to the media on Sunday (October 4th).
I am devastated by the loss of AJ. His death comes on the heels of the death of my beloved Uncle Ralph and with both of them gone, my heart is heavy with grief. I had spoken to AJ two hours before I got the call that he was in the hospital. Never in a thousand years did I think it was going to be the last time I heard his voice. He was taken way too soon. There are so many things that I should have said to him, wanted to say to him… But now it’s too late.
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of my family and friends — and that means my twitter and facebook friends as well — for the beautiful words of encouragement, prayers, and the sweet condolences. I make it through these difficult days because of you. I know this is cliché’ but I urge everyone to treat each day as if it’s your last and tell that special someone you love them today. Don’t wait. It may be too late.
Please pray for his children, his family and Riley – they too are grieving the loss of an incredible man, son, brother and father. I wish you all had gotten to know the AJ we all knew and loved.
According to Freddyo.com, a man by the name of Fredrick Richardson was arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter. He reportedly hit AJ over the head with a bottle during the incident.

it breaks my heart. all i can do is pray that his loved ones find strength in their time of need. but like she said although it may seem cliche but make sure your loved ones know that you love them.

Thats said news. Its really sad knowing he died for no purpose. Just senseless. hopefully the guy that did this to him did not try to kill him intentionally. If so he needs to get his life right.

Wow this is so awful, despite how shady folks thought he was, 6 children are now without their father over some foolishness I’m sure. I pray for them and his family.
Hit over the head with a bottle and then dead? I thought maybe he hit his head on the ground or something, but a bottle. It must have been in the right spot.
First a a railroad tie (Derrion Albert), now a bottle. Ppl need to understand this is not like the movies or a video game where someone gets hit on the head and then gets back up or continues to fight. No one is that super human. Hitting someone on the head can cause death and your freedom.
This is a sad story. The word all over Atlanta is that the incident was over a stripper the works at that club. I hope that’s not true.

This is such a tragedy (and that’s when anyone dies senselessly)! WTF is going on? I felt like I knew this guy (from tv) and he didn’t even say much while on the show….But I want to extend my condolences to all the fam and friends of A.J…May they all be at peace

He did not die over a stripper…He co-owned body tap and was there handling business. It was an argument gone bad. Everyone wants to be judgmental of him but everyone has someone in their family that was not perfect in every sense of the word. Think about how you would feel if something happened to your family member. Stop giving reasons on why he should have died and list all the many reasons why he needed to live…..R.I.P. AJ WAS CO-OWNER OF THE BODY TAP. FRED (THE GUY HE GOT INTO AN ARGUMENT WITH) WAS ALSO CO-OWNER. THEY WERE ARGUING OVER FINANCES. THE ARGUMENT TURNED TO FIGHTING AND HE HIT AJ IN THE HEAD WITH A BOTTLE. HE JUST HAPPENED TO HIT HIM IN A WAY THAT KILLED HIM. I’M SURE IT WAS NOT INTENTIONAL. HE JUST WANTED TO BEAT HIM DOWN NOT KILL HIM. FRED WAS NOT A BAD GUY. HE JUST DID A BAD THING. IF YOU SEE HIS MUGSHOT HIS EYE IS SWOLLEN SHUT AND HIS FACE WAS BLOODY AND BRUISED. IT WAS A FIGHT. AJ LOST THE FIGHT AND HIS LIFE. IT’S SAD FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED. SEVERAL FAMILIES HAVE BEEN EFFECTED BY THIS TRAGIC EVENT. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH THEM ALL.
I just found out he used to date Tiny. (She was in the group Xscape with Kandi & T.I’s baby’s mother). That seems kind of awkward to me. I wouldn’t want a dude that had been with one of my friends. Ewww.
