Whitney was definitely not lip synching.. That would be a lot of ad libbing to remember if she was. I liked it. You’re right though, she didn’t promote much in the US. Still managed to outsell Mariah in the first week sales though.. I love both ladies, I hope they strenghten those voices though.

@ Lisa1… Honey the week is over.. Whitney sold about 350,000 records and debuted at #1.. Mariah is expected to sell about 150,000 and be outsold my Paramore, taking the #2 spot.. Unless you plan on buying a few extra copies, I think its a wrap.. Really, it’s not that serious.. I purchased both albums, and though I prefer Whitneys a little more, they’re both great.. calm down buddy..
Anyways, I figure since she’s in a huge arena there’s bound to be a few milliseconds of lag time like when people do performances at football stadiums..

Whitney sounded great and that was totally live! That wasnt even sung exactly like the album version, you could her all the different nuances.

It took a few listens before I got into Mariahs album, but I like it now. Standing O, Languising, Ribbon, and Inseperable are all faves.. I think I may have just preferred Whitneys because it had been so long.. Janet you’re right, it didn’t seem like Whitney put all that much into this record, which is why I’m hoping the next is even better. With each performance I see, I notice her voice getting a little stronger.
aye, number 1, dont try to throw janet and madonna under the bus because Whitney smoked her talent away and I hate to be so blunt about it but that’s exactley what she did, it was hell whatching that car crash slowly and steadily over the past 15 years and not being able to do anything about it and as aresult her claim to fame, that being her voice suffered as a result.
I just checked out 4:28.. You can hear her voice fadeout when she moves the mic away suddenly so I think it’s live.. I could be wrong though, who knows.. Regardless, I liked the performance.

I really enjoyed this performance and it was great to hear Whitney singing her high notes again flawlessly with no gaps. To the 2 posters above, yall must be really young because, ‘The Voice’ Ms. Houston has NEVER lipsynced. She will give you what she has LIVE whether good or bad voice. That is what I admire about her. She keeps it real and never deceives her fans.
Whitney’s cd is fantastic and I hope that they release Worth It folled by Salute. The conviction in her voice when she sings tells me that really feels her songs.
Now, I just want to see her perform like this in the US when she gets back. Europe has really showed her love with her album debuting at #1 in over 10 countries without a video or her there to promote. That is on some LEGEND status there!
Regarding Mariah, I dont know why I still have to read about her in a Whitney thread or vice versa. I agree L A Reid is shady- he gave Whitney bad advice with Just Whitney was released and his son is Whitney’s godchild. IWKWLI is not a good single for her- radio is not playing ballads by the divas- they want beats- urban ac may play it and AC but not pop and urban.
I wish her luck but her sales will suck this go around. They are projecting less than 200k and that pales in comparison to Whitney’s 311k first week with no video and little promo.
There was nothing fake about htis performance. The problem is you all so use to such terrible talent that you just don’t even know when someone is killin it. She is making asses out of all the people that said her voice was gone. That voice is getting better and better with each performance. She killed it. That last note was the real deal baby you can’t fake something like that. She is just warming up for all the naysayers. When God gives you a talent you can’t give away nor smoke it away. No matter how hard you try. The song is not that great of a song period but she killed it. And no matter how negative you all try to be you can’t take that away from her.
Janets/LA REID cd was bland and she keeps choosing the wrong singles, enjoy could have saved her cd, but she was stupid.
Mariah/LA REID keep forgetting what single to release, release wrong singles, put out videos to late, and i agree Standing Ovation is the hit, and those fools keep self-destructing
Whitney/Clive release too many videos and not the correct single and whitney is lazy and she will not promote her cd

That was a signature Whitney note if I ever heard it and it was LIVE. She’s coming back to promote in the STates. She has Clive and he always advise her right. Arista is proud of this album and I’m sure has great things in store for it. You don’t sell 670k records in 5 weeks and abandon it.

Whitney is not singing live here and you can see when she puts that microphone up and the vocal is still the same. Its a live sounding track which they go into the studio and sing a live sounding version. Beyonce uses it alot, look at Tyra show, single ladies performance, the performance sounds live and she’s lip singing

Whitney’s CD was ok. It could have been better if they used Akon to produce more tracks on it.
A lot of people blame LA Reid for Mariah’s last CD not doing as well as it could have but I actually liked E=MC2 better than Memoirs. People forget that LA Reid is a businessman first and he only cares about the royalty money he gets from being executive producer on Mariah’s projects.

And I am listening very intently as she transitions from each word of this song, “I Look To You.” Whitney’s CD is a blessing. It’s a GREAT album. Whitney Houston is # 1 Female Singer in my book.
