Congrats to Senator Brooks. Yeah he is extremely light so what. So is Benjamin Jealous the new leader of the NAACP. It is obvious that the former senator had a lot of white ancestors in his family tree along with the black ancestry.

Michelle, oh how I LOVE Michelle O… she is just FAB beyond words! For the first time ever, have the American people have a first lady like Michelle. She sets the bar so HIGH as to what a human being should be, all the way around! Just LOVE her… What a beauty!

ORGANIZED NOISE ~ Y are Americans so concerned about ones RACE. Does it EVEN matter what his race is… Being a great SENATOR that should be the only MATTER! Americans must GET over the past in order to heal. NOT saying forget the past but forgive and move on to helping your people as well as the WORLD! because everthing around the world is NOT black and white. There r bigger issues people!!!!!!!!

Lola how about you and the rest of the world STFU and stop trying to lecture Americans. All you did was make general statements. It may not be about race in your country but it is in Amercan. We are workng on our problems just like every other country. Love the Obamas and Congratulations to Senator Brooke!

He looks like my grandfather Wanye, who was the same complexion, hair type, only my pappa had blue eyes, but he was proudly black and independent minded. He admired senator Brooks because he was a moderate and looked at both sides of the issue, not just what the Democrats told him to look at. No crabs in the barrel thinking with the old school black dudes of this era. By the way, black is more than just a skin color.

blinders fall off!

no im sorry it isn’t in this case. especially when you CLEARLY have more white blood in you than black. in this case the man is BARELY genetically black, yet he is labelled BLACK because he isn’t purely white. He may have a ‘black’ attitude and talk ‘black’ but appearances noted taking in his piercing blue eyes and pale skin (despite the tan) he isn’t BLACK.

@blinders fall off! - If all you’re going on is appearance, his wikipedia pic says Black to me:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w...ki/File:Edward_Brooke.jpg

As to what percentage of whose blood he has, it’ll take more than your eyes to determine that. Genetics aren’t only black and white. (pun intended)

Black isn’t just a color idiot! I see very light skinned black people all the time who self-identify as black and it is none of your business. Senator Brooks and his parents were black in the fashion of Adam Clayton Powell and you don’t have to be genetically 100% African or even 25% to consider yourself black. I come from a long line of very light complexioned people, with light eyes and reddish hair and we obviously have a great deal of European ancestry but that does not negate our African heritage. I hate that inane comment about us talking black or having a black attitude. What is that anyway? Not all of us speak with a ghetto inflection in our voices or have a certain attitude? I don’t get it. That’s the problem with lumping an entire group of people into a certain stereotype, it’s ridiculous.

@ Staci…..I agree. That was a very ignorant comment that Blinders fall off said. I think his/her name says it all…take the blinders off and become more knowledgeable about genetics and the black race…asshole.
