I was not feeling the AMA’s tonight, honestly the only performance I liked was Greenday, I’m tired of hearing Empire State of Mind.

J-Lo did good, until she fell, I still love her she still has it.

Janet was hot, but she does need to get back in it, she did look a little rusty, and she often lip syncs and award shows, but I’ve seen her in concert, she doesn’t lip sync on tour, well at least when I was there, which is so strange I don’t understand it. I feel like she need to come out of it and do the damn thing, because that opening left my mouth watering I felt like I didn’t get the whole meal.

The Rest of the show is not worth mentioning, cause it all sucked

What Riri’s Wait Your Turn + Hard was about (to me) was mental anguish, hence why in the intro there was this bout that looked like an electroshock therapy session given to people with schizophrenia. The outfit she wore too was also that of a mental institution, and even her dancers all look like they were pariahs of some kind.. so basically it was about ehr taking us to a “world” and give us an experience of sorts.

It’s sooo sad people don’t get things before judging, or just reach for what they know and ask where were the moves? or the this and that? with that mentality artists can never experiment and give us something different!!

Okay forget about rihanna’s live performance, that is not the only thing that makes an artist. You can’t deny that her music is good. She puts out really great music. The new album Rated R is a monster. She has some really good potential hits on there. Rolling stones magazine gave the album very high ratings, and her album is currently #1 in 5 European countries. She may not be the most outstanding performer, but she did good enough. Every one is going to have an off night now and again, so give the girl a break.

Janet danced three times as long as everyone else (8 minutes) so of course she is going to be tired.

Lady GaGa has to light her piano on fire for me to even take notice. I don’t think you are that great when you have to rely on stage gimmicks.

@pretty nikki I agree, Lady Gaga’s first half of her performance was okay, only because I liked the song Bad Romance. When she started to get into the second part of the song, it got kinda boring, until she started breaking bottles, and lighting up the place. Its strange that people are not calling her gimmicky, but are quick to point out rihanna, when her change, or even act was not even as over the top as Gaga’s.

@163 I hear you , but performing is one aspect of being an artist. People have to like your music, before your even able to draw them in to perform. People hear an artist music, first, and then they may go to a concert, or watch them on TV. IF people are not feeling your music, they would not even want to see you perform. You know how many people I have listened to their music, and have never seen them perform or go to their concert. The music is what speaks to a person, the perfomance is just another aspect that can enhance the music, or add to it. The performance comes around ever so often, but music can be played over and over, and can last for a lifetime.

Rihanna was horrible. She has no talent at all. Why is she even revelant? Whitney did okay,but she doesn’t have the voice she used to have. J-Lo the performance was just all wrong. She said that she busted her butt on purpose. Yeah I bet. The AMA was not all that good. It had some good parts to it and some not so good parts to it. Its not what it used to be.

Rihanna was just awful and the fact that she has fans is even more sad than her performance! Who wants to bet Gaga Beats her out next week with a damn re release?

An example of an “organic” performance would be Mary, Greenday, hell Ak and Jay-Z.
Rihanna unfortunately is not in that category. No one “caught on” to all this supposed brillians because we were too busy trying to keep our eyes open!

You don’t need a stage production to convey pain (ie MJB), and even though Ga Ga has props (if you call a piano a prop) she interacts with them effectively, and successfuly marries performace art with music.
Rihanna (even though she has some great songs) to put it simply is as compelling as a roof shingle.
