    Rihanna’s hair looks nice.
The interview CL posted yesterday made me like her again.

Serena’s wig or whatever that is looks nice.

Too lazy to click on the pictures so those are the only two I’m commenting on.

  2. yo!

wasn’t Rihanna given this honor BEFORE she spoke out about Domestic Violence? Looks like they just gave it to her just to give it to her and I don’t like that. She doesn’t deserve to be honored with those women..not now anyway.

Glamour Magazine gets TWO THUMBS DOWN FOR THAT!

  3. martha focker

dont take this the wrong way but since when is GLAMOUR magazine about all black women? or is CL only posting the pics of the black celebrities?

Rihanna looks great.only she can rock something like that.

  4. shanna

    congrats to all of them

  5. @ 3. You obviously didn’t view ALL THE PHOTOS before you made that comment. But I will say this. This blog gives the black perspective on events and awards (OBVIOUSLY). You want more info, view the video and links I provided in the post.

  6. MikaDee

Didn’t she JUST speak out about domestic violence?? Maybe next year would of been better after campaigning or something but to be honored at this time doesn’t seem right.. and what is UP w/all these dang spam ads and aggressive redirects!! goodness

  7. nefrititi2.0

    First of all…
Susan rice and her hubby look like their sex life is maaaad boring.

Kerry washington looks like she’s had a samee sosa skin rejuvination

Rhinna’s dress looks good, but that paper she’s reading off of looks way too crumpbled up..ghetto

Iman is banging…African sisters always do it right

bill used to be so sexy

  8. BEAM ME UP SCOTTLAND!!

Why does Gabby stick her arms out like that? Could she breathe?

  9. neon

liya kebede is so freaking gorgeous- that’s a model right there
same for iman- saw her w/o makeup and she still looked younger than her age and beautiful
i LOVE maya angelou-such a wise, earthy woman

congrats to the winners except i’m confused about riri b/c she just spoke out this past friday- she hasn’t done anything for the domestic violence cause so what is she being honored for? congrats to her if it’s something good bu if they just gave it to her, that’s not right

  10. Dude-N-Htown

    Rihanna looks sooo good…..

    Gabby…ehhh she needs a stylish

    Tyra lookin slim

  11. Yas - DECEMBER 8th GRAFFITI

Lovely stuff.. good cause, great coverage, questionable honorees, overall everyone looked great.

  12. jAD0ReQUi

Great Great post I’m glad they honored Rihanna we as women need a voice she may be young but her speaking out definitely made her strong and powerful in my book !!

  13. yep

I totally agree with #2. This award was given out months ago before Rihanna ever spoke out about anything. Seems like a marketing tool. I just find it odd that the event was held after her 20/20 special. A spade is a spade.

With that said, looked like a great event and I’m proud of all the ladies who were deservingly honored.

  14. cali panamami [don't follow me, it leads to something else]

#3: you should read the ENTIRE post. ya know…

    anywhoooooo….

i remember watching when the two journalists first got off the plane. such an emotional moment…

    rihanna looks nice!
    amy poehler is hilarious!
    liya is an absolute dream!
and everyone please lay off gabby! geez!

    i hate the negativity!

congratulations to all the lovely ladies! they all deserve the honors!!!

  15. Babatunde

    I love Estelle!
    Iman is gorgeous!

  16. bored

Just like that piece of paper Rihanna is holding, all crumbled up that’s the way her life is getting ready to be. She used this lie once, but to except an award knowing you dont deserve it, is a low! The rest of them women deserved it especially Maya A. from her wheelchair she has done more in 10 minutes than Rihanna has done in her whole existence in being a so called star. What a shame, Def Jam and Rihanna no better, and Rihanna has yet to take a pic with her mum, they said they were there and I’m for one hoping they take her back to Barbados to learn some self respect! Take Jay with y’all.

  17. Furious Styles Needs To Get Out More!

Im so fed up with Hollywood & its fakeness. ”Rihanna’s stance on domestic violence”??….you have to be kiddding right!
Thats how I know her ”beating” was staged, cuz Rihanna didnt speak out until AFTER she was honoured for the award, so how can they honour her for her ”stance” on domestic violence, when she hadnt done no interviews or publically(sp) talk about her ”abuse” until recently.. …………………..I smell a rat!

  18. hood_shit

Thats damn Rihanna did that! Dress is dope!

    Amy Poehler is madd funny!

  19. Ms. Get !t B!tch

    Loves Rihanna…

LOOK at Iman…this lady is 54 years old…WOW. I don’t know anybody Grandma that looks like that….

  20. mari

@bored glamour magazine clearly thought rihanna deserved it. She looks beautiful, and I wish her the best.

  21. eagle.

Rih was originally nominated for her leukemia foundation “believe,” but since he the incident…. you know.

  22. mari

Rihanna’s award was not just for speaking out about domestic violence. She was also awarded because of the work she was doing with her foundation to help children with terminal illness. Because you haters are so busy hating on rihanna, you don’t even know about some of the things she has been quitely doing behind the scenes. So of course when she gets honored for things, you all are surprised and trying to figure out why.

  23. R U SERIOUS??? NEW DC SOCIALITE BUT MADE MY OWN MONEY

The beauty of Black Women is timeless, I love it. You all Rock. Serena was serving it up in that red dress and flawless make up, I love it.

  24. tahirah

    @ number 10 where’s tyra?????????

  25. life.

I was at the event last night and they didn’t even mention Rihanna’s cancer foundation. They focused solely on the domestic violence thing. So Glamour Magazine knows what they were doing.

Estelle sounded amazing live by the way.

  26. Aries_Blu

The thing is, Rihanna has no stance on domestic violence. I think it’s ridiculous that she got this award.

  27. wisdom body

@ Mari it hinks ppl said those things bc the caption says her stance on DV doesn’t say anything about a charity! but i do remember her going to hospitals and haning out with the patients! thats should have been the caption instead of the DV! bc i know women who really do go out and speak on DV and really help others not just trying to promote their album! but taking nothing from her she is the biggest name in the game right now and i’m sure her interview did reach out to some young girl who needs help! but if you gone milk it, milk it right!

  28. HONI

    Mari, maria, wtf?

switchin names, ur not foolin any1, just send that freakin application to be rhianna’s slave! thats what u sound like! gtfo! anyway everyone looks amazing, love tyra, back to herself again!
I like ri’s dress too, even though all a heaven knows u do not deserve that award. but that dress is the fututre. Gabby looks good too. i fear all that baggage is unhealthy though. everyone gets a thumbs up, even lenny’s girl’s too cool to care is k!

  29. JustMyOpinion

I love Zoe Kravitz… however. Perhaps we could have done without the jacket, Zoe?

  30. mari

@25 they did mention it, they even mentioned Jasmina the little girl she helped to find a bone marrow for, so stop trying to lie.

  31. mari

@28 I am mari and only mari. Thank you. You can research me on many different posts. I don’t switch names, because I firmly stand behind anything i post, and I don’t have to camoflauge myself. If thats what you do, more power to you.

  33. shea

RIHANNA WAS GIVEN THIS AWARD BECAUSE OF HER PHILANTHROPY… ASIDE FROM DOMESTIC VIOLENCE!!! SHE STARTED A CHILDREN’S FOUNDATION CALLED BELIEVE!!! SHE HAS A HANDBAG LINE WITH GUCCI CALLED THE TATTOO HEART COLLECTION AND THE PROFITS GO TO CHARITY. SHE SAVED A LITTLE GIRL’S LIFE AND FOUND HER A BONE MARROW DONER WHEN DOCTORS WERE ABOUT TO LOSE HOPE!!! YOU PEOPLE WHO SAY SHE DIDN’T DESERVE THIS OBVIOUSLY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT HER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  34. Tah

    “STANCE ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE”

all she did was talk on 20/20, ONLY to promote her album. When i see pics of her walking out of a counseling center for young women instead of a restaurant in a sheer top then i’ll call it a “stance”

  35. Kris in Dallas

Angel, your hilarious.. I don’t know if you were intending on sounding sarcastic, but that discriptions was hilarious.. Everyone’s being rewarded for such wonderful things ..Rihanna is being honored for her stance on domestic violence.. LOL

  36. Kris in Dallas

@ Sheba… That’s still just a drop in the bucket compaired to what the other ladies have done.. She doesn’t deserve it. point blank period

  37. maison martin margiela

@33 Cosign to the fullest. These folks obviously don’t know anything about her charitible works Riri looks gorgeous, keep brushing the haters off. Love your style, and congrats!!

  38. shea

    @Kirs in Dallas

Amy Poehler hasn’t done anything but be funny, Serena Williams has accomplished a lot in her career this year, but what has she done for community service? Everyone was being honored for different things, and Rihanna did deserve to be honored for her philanthropy. Whether people want to accept it or not, she did have an impact on domestic violence victims. After her interview the calls to the domestic violence hot line increased by 59% and calls to the teen domestic violence hotliint increased by 73%. She stated that she does not want to be the spokesperson for DV, but despite that, her ordeal has still impacted people’s lives, especially young girls who were embarrassed of their situation. Rihanna has many foundations for children, but people never talk about that, because they are too busy trying to focus on the Chris Brown scandal. If people look past that, they will see that she is truly trying to make a difference in this world.

  39. Henny

Tyra B, Kerry W, and Liya look beautiful.

Serena’s dress is a little .. boring? I’m sure she could have gone for a more glamourous dress.

Zoe looks under-dressed, kinda scruffy. She looks as though she’s hitting the club!

Rihanna’s make up is perfect, but the HAIR? Her hair is a joke. I think her stylist was trying to go for the Lady Gaga look, you know, the eccentric dress with the exaggerated ruffles? It doesn’t suit Rihanna at all.

  40. #1SC

LMAO@ Rihanna reading from a crumpled up piece of paper
    can she get nemore ghetto?

    dress is nice tho

    love serena

  41. Henny that is best Rihanna’s hair has looked all year! I dont know what hair you looking at.

  42. D

Damn! I ain’t even a Rihanna fan but the hateration is popping off on this parts. Like some of the hate Beyonce gets. That means a woman is doing something right.

It is shame that Angel has tried to present a blog that is positive and a reporter of news, events, history, etc but this does not transcend into the comment section. Anyhoo, being under 20 can be a bitch. Grow up!

  43. Candace

Ok this is not even funny. Gabby needs that gastric bypass surgery. I mean that aint even healthy for her to be that big. she is not that damn hungry. She needs an intervention and quick before she dies. Real talk

  44. neon

she couldn’t have gotten it for her stance on dv b/c she JUST had that 20/20 interview and i’m sure they didn’t just find nominees this weekend. it had to be in the works. i guess it was for philanthropy but most celebs do community work

  45. POSITIVE CHICK

    Maya Angelou is so inspiring!
Rihanna and Iman rocked their dresses
    Congrats to all of them

  46. Been Prissy Since1908

I LOVE love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love U Ri-Ri!

    Every1 looks great!!!!

    did i mention i looooooooooooooooooooooooooove ri-ri :-)

  47. Dude-N-Htown

@43 CANDACE….that was sooo mean…but soooooooooooooo funny. I dont have a problem with her weight (i jus hopes she healthy)…but they could get this girl a stylist. Oprah and Tyler could have hooked this girl up

  48. Zena

Rihanna looked a hot mess. Secondly, I think they gave her this award for getting beat up and still managing to look cute afterward. she hadn’t even spoken out when they named her woman of the year. Whatever though.
All women were well deserving of the award. Congratulations to all!

  49. LULU

Rihanna’s dress is everything…I love Gabby’s poses, too cute!

  50. BK GIRL

I’m with 43 ———- WOW…….the hate for this young lady is a bit ridiculous and tasteless. No one is questioning what the other women has done.

They were each awarded for their accomplishments and contributions.

  51. BK GIRL

Typo——— in my previous post. Meant 42!

  52. Dude-N-Htown

I dunno how I feel about Rihanna being awarded this award. But I dunno all she does, so congrats… But they need to stop with this DV crap. Jus stop. But she looks good. I have to give her that

Maya is soooo amazing…she jus makes you smile.

  53. dctrinigyal

    Do that RiRi!
Gabby looks amazing! can’t wait to Precious hit dc movie theaters!

  54. PeaceLover

All the women there looked beautiful. Did someone say above that Iman is in her fifties? I never would’ve guessed.

I really don’t know what to think about Rihanna getting this award. But the radio station I listen to down in G-Town announced she won the award, and the radio people were saying things like”What did she do this year besides streetwalk?”. And folks were calling in calling her everything but the name her mother gave her. All I could do was shake my head. But hey, I guess thats hollywood for you……

  55. LINDA

Well RIRI, OBAMA, hell they may as well give me in award for being on concreteloop, since they just given them out. Give Ex president Bush one for putting this country in a mess. Hell lets just throw em in a bag in keep it moving. lmfao

  56. Classy:If U Seek Amy!

Congrats to all! They all look great and deserve their awards. Rihanna continues to stun me with her gorgeousness! The woman is out of this world with her beauty!!!!

  57. #1SC

THREE ema’s sh!ts on that award

  58. #1SC

Tyra looked great n the precious movie was soooo good

  59. The Aerospace Guy

What.. Susan Rice is Married ?… dang.. now I am depressed. I was sort of holding out that I would have a chance. Intelligence, hotness, and style… So I guess my search continues… dang
