well im glad Monique got her act together and showed up to this event. everybody looks nice.. Mariah looks especially pretty in the face, she needs to stick with that makeup artist. Mr. Poitier is a legend, great actor and pioneer in the entertainment industry, always carried and potrayed himself with pride and great dignity even during times of Jim Crow when Blacks were expected to potray themselves as subordinate “Stepin and Fetchin” types or have subservient attitudes. Love this particular line he had in a movie (can’t think of the name) that was in the deep South when he told this racist sheriff,” They call me Mr. Tibbs”, the look on the sheriff’s face was priceless. lol

I’m loving how Monique looks. WOW.

The preformance she gives is jarring yet complicated. She does have a reason for being as ruthless as she comes off in this movie.
Gabourey Sidibe was also very interesting on The Ellen show. I was very impressed with how well she spoke and how she deals with Hollywood.

With that said she should lose some of that weight. I understand having it for the role but she really does look unhealthy and she can stand to lose that weight because Hollywood is going to type cast her and she should think more about her health.

Tyler Perry disgusts me. I really find him to be subversive and I don’t understand why Oprah is so “protective” of a man who presents such horrible images of African Americans for a profit.

Im so glad Mo is promoting this movie. Gabby looks good..yes she is bigger than most Hollywood stars, however her role was a powerful one from what I see in previews so good for her. Im sure she’ll get to a more comfortable size like Monique did. Everybody looks good and its nice to see black people come out and really promote like this.

I don’t like Monique. She is just loud and ghetto and she always be talking hard about stuff and using her damn hands just talking about simple stuff. She said “baby” too much.

Finally a classy event with some CLASSY BLACK PEOPLE! Most of them are HIGH CLASS too! This is what I’m talking about. Everyone is dressed appropriately for the event.

Actually, Gabby has lost weight, and I am pretty sure she will keep on since she is now in the spotlight, and she knows that she now has negative people (like you who have posted your negative & cruel comments) that will try to down her because of her weight. If you read her interviews, she new this character was for her because of what she looks like outside, everyone was fast to judge & not knowing what was inside….Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and looks fade, and weight goes up and down…GO Gabby & Monique the Beautiful Black and curvy women that knows how to keep your head up & break barriers! Tyler Perry films make me feel like I’m in a vortex of depression.I can’t support another travesty. I’m sick and tired of watching Oprah and Perry productions about pain and sorry and suffering, and depression. Even their comedies or light hearted moments have undertones, of “you should be sad”. i don’t have the energy or mindset anymore to go through that depression watching their products. I have enough misery in my life than to be miserable watching fiction. And yes, Spike Lee is 100% correct in his assessment.
