Pop diva Janet Jackson is releasing her forthcoming Number Ones compilation on November 17th and the following day, Janet will air an hour-long primetime special on ABC, November 18th.
It seems as though Janet’s team on her new label (her new studio album, due out next year, will be released via A&M/Interscope Records), which will be announced officially sometime this month is trying to make all the right moves for the next phase in Janet’s career. With a great performance at this year’s VMA’s, a new video for “Make Me Move,” the new single from the greatest hits compilation, to this upcoming new special, Janet is definitely on the right track.
We can expect a new album from Jackson next year, which Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins revealed will be an uptempo/dance record.
CHRIS BROWN MOVES UP GRAFFITI
After the success of his latest video and leaking of his album cover, it seems that Chris Brown and Jive Records are quite confident in the release of his third studio album, Graffiti, which was set for release December 15th.
In a day and age where most of the time, this is unheard of, Brown has decided that he will push his album up a week earlier. The new album from Chris will now hit stores December 8th.
Chris is presently promoting the single, “I Can Transform Ya,” but recently shot a video for his second single, “Crawl,” which will feature model/singer, Cassie.
MARY PUSHES ALBUM BACK AGAIN
Originally slated for release on December 15th, Mary J. Blige is pushing her album back just in time for Christmas.
The ninth studio album, Stronger, will now drop December 22nd. When asked about the new album, Mary had this to say:
“The album represents who and what I am right now. I’m a stronger human being after all the growing pains. It’s about life, love, change, strength—mostly really knowing who you are and being confident in that.”
This is interesting, as far as Mary’s project being pushed back. Due to the fact that her “buzz” single “The One,” featuring fan-favorite Drake isn’t really performing as well on the charts, I thought that “Stronger,” the album’s title track, which was also released as the lead single from the film More Than a Game’s soundtrack, Music Inspired by More Than a Game would create some more awareness about Mary’s upcoming album.
It’ll be a good thing for Mary to see this on the shelves when doing last minute shopping on December 22nd.

i can’t wait for teh Mary album…think it will be good….she went back in the lab with some heavy hitters to get the album JUST RIGHT….i can respect that and appreciate that…she killed the national anthem last nite BTW
LOVE MARY….she killed the national anthem last nite BTW
Go Janet!!
Good for Janet, good luck for Chris, as for Mary she keeps trying to repeat the success of the 730K she sold for The Breakthrough back in ’05 by dropping these albums around the holidays. I don’t know why she keeps releasing singles 2-3 months before the album drops, I don’t know what sense that makes.
wow
Janet has A LOT of projects lined up…I can’t wait to see the upcoming film, Why Did I Get Married Too? It’s gonna be crazy…Can barely wait.
Janet Jackson, I wish she’d stop it with these comebacks! Damn, this is her 4th time trying to a comeback. She had her shine for 20 years so now she needs to sit down. I can’t stand her whispering.
Chris Brown, good for him. His single “I Can Transform Ya” is already number 24 on the charts. Even with some negativity left over, he’s going to have a successful album.
Mary J, “The One” was so hot. I’m surprised that it didn’t do good at all. Besides that, I’m not jumping for joy over any of her album releases in these years. I think she needs to sit down and just enjoy her money too.
I just saw the preview to Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Two and it looks amazingly good cant wait for April 2010 and I”ll be tuning in for that one on one interview with Janet which we all know will have somethin to do with her breakup with
Jermaine and her reaction to MJ’s passing. Everything seems to be lining up for miss
Janet I wish her best of sucess for 2010. The real QUEEN is back
damn everybody changed their album release date from December 15th. First Chris and now Mary but that leaves Alicia Keys going #1 since there won’t be any competition.
I love living on PLANET JANET!
@truthfullyspeaking, Technically, what is a comeback? Janet Jackson hasn’t went anywhere. Because you’re not a fan you don’t support her music so you don’t know her craft. Janet Jackson albums have all debuted in a #1 peak spot on the charts. A comeback is someone who’s been on a long hiatus for over three years…Janet hasn’t taken those kinds of breaks between her albums…Janet has worked with producers and songwriters, Kanye West, Babyface, Rodney Jerkins, The-Dream, and StarGate…Janet hasn’t been ‘attempting’ comebacks because she never left and I’m assuming you haven’t even heard Janet’s last few albums so you can’t even put any input on the quality of the music. Janet Jackson is apparently quite relevant hence an upcoming book, film, album, compilation, and possible tour…sorry but Janet won’t be leaving blog posts anytime soon.
YOOOO!
I just saw the trailer for Why Did I Get Married Too? And that sh*t LOOKS CRAZY!
Go check it out ASAP!
….mary put a hurtinm on the national anthem last night ….loved it…
,….. breezy buser sit down and think about your life….
….. good janet…… unlike nappy headed bey let us enjoy thanksgiving dinner
@ 11 LOL but still you must admit, no matter who she’s worked with, she’s fallen off musically since All For You, attempting to craft a relevant contemporary R&B sound as opposed to just doing her, the adult/Pop stuff. That could be because of her relationship with Jermaine. She got kinda lazy with her promotion and tours which I think hurt her also. I thought Discipline was a breath of fresh air after the last two, but that tanked. She has money so she could’ve made it a success but like I said, she was lazy. I agree she’s never left, but I honestly hope she delivers a solid release in 2010 that isn’t all over the place musically and in her zone. And hopefully this book that she been talking about for 3 years now finally gets released.
“Confidence” ha! the only reason Chris (& Mary) moved from the 15th is because thats when hurricane Alicia will be landing now. Chris’ people just decided to go forward instead of backwards.
I LOVE MARY AND ALL…BUT IM TIRED OF THIS “HURT AND BATTERED AND TRYING TO GROW FROM DISASTER” MESS. SHE DOES THIS WITH EVERY SINGLE ALBUM!
SHE’S VERY INSPIRATIONAL WITH HER WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT AND ALL, BUT THIS “STRONGER THAN BEFORE” THING IS TIRED.
Can’t wait for Mary’s album! I have every album she has ever released. Haven’t heard from Janet in a minute so excited to hear her also. Chris will do well as always. Goodluck to all of them.
@ Chris BROWN
you can move up your CD it does not matter you will still FLOP!
People don’t support unrepentant women beaters/ FELONS!
In the NYDAILY NEWS TODAY!
Looks like Chris Brown’s past might haunt him “Forever.”
The scorned singer is attempting a comeback with his “Fan Appreciation” tour, which kicks off next week, but he hasn’t had much luck filling even the small venues he’s set to perform in.
The gigs – which start at the House of Blues in Houston on Nov. 14 and end in the Big Apple’s Nokia Theater on Dec. 15 – aren’t even close to sold out. In fact, anyone who’s interested can still purchase up to 50 tickets at a time for Brown’s opening night.
“This is definitely not the outcome [Chris' label] Jive Records hoped for,” says an industry exec, adding that the poor ticket sales are surely a result of Brown’s now-infamous altercation with Rihanna in February. “Chris lost a lot of fans after he assaulted Rihanna. And after that whole scandal, he’s not exactly kid-friendly. What parent would buy their children tickets to his concert?”
Selling Tickets and CD’s may be increasingly more difficult for the controversial crooner, now that Rihanna is finally speaking up about what actually happened between the two on that fateful February night. Among other interviews, the songbird is doing a segment on today’s “Good Morning America,” which will continue tomorrow on “20/20.”
While the “Good Girl Gone Bad” isn’t bashing her ex – she refers to him as her first “big love” before labeling the situation as “unfortunate” – she may not have to.
“Chris made his own bed,” says our source. “And now he has to lie in it.”
YOUR DONE CHRIS CLOWN!
LULU thank you! That’s what I was insinuating.
To Terrell Johnson, you don’t know what a comeback is? A perfect example of a comeback is Mariah Carey, with The Emancipation of Mimi. In early 00 Mariah had a movie that did horribly in sales, an album that declined in sales tremendously, compared to all of her previous albums, and had a breakdown. No one was checking for her and made fun of her. When she released The Emancipation of Mimi a few years later, she was getting number 1′s again, breaking even more records, selling her albums around the world like hot cakes, being in the news and tabloids non stop… ect.
Janet even insinuated how disappointed she was in her comments about her label and album sales. She looses weight, like it’s something new, gets on some magazines covers about “hot bods,” releases a weak single that doesn’t even get in the Hot 100 top 10, has a good week first sale with the album, because many of the small fans that are left buy it doing that time, then falls off. So where’s the comeback in that?
Thanks loops for the Janet Jackson post its always a pleasure.
–@ 15
–I’m sorry did you say Hurricane Alicia? Lmao! You must be joking! The same Alicia
–that had to push her album back because her first single flopped? Is this the same
–Alicia that is currently shooting a second video for her second soon to be flop single
–? Yes, she’s a hurricane alright.
–I’m excited for the release of Chris’s album. I hope it generates much success.
–I agree with Terrell Johnson, Janet doesn’t need a comeback, like he stated ole girl
–has consistently debuted #1 albums. Whereas Mimi’s current project debuted…..
–where? What was it # 3? Much props to my girl Janet!!
@ 19 yeah…to me, a comeback is coming back to/revisiting the time when you were on top. Yes, that’s an example (Mariah and Emancipation) since she basically fell off after Rainbow in 1999, and to be more politically correct, right after Butterfly in 1997 in terms of album sales, promotion, radio impact, everything.
@ 20 Janet hasn’t had a #1 album since Discipline…20 Y.O. and Damita Jo were both #2 when they debuted, so so much for consistency!
I’m not getting my hopes up to soon for Janet. She’s done the same thing for the past three albums. As soon as I start thinking she is going to do things like normal, she drops the ball. So I’m just going to sit back see what she does. But I am surprised that she is back at A&M, where she was when she first broke through in 86. I guess you can always go back home.
I’m going out and buying multiple copies of Chris Brown since hater like Furious Styles want it to flop. The sad sounding mess Rihannia is releasing should flop she can’t sing.
Lulu, I think smithjackson, was talking about the fact that Janet is on the list of few women in music history who have had more than 5 albums debut at #1. Whitney, Madonna, Britney , it wasn’t right to bring Mariah up because she is on that list two.
Hmmmmmmm…..
Go Janet!
@ SAM
You support a Woman Beater if you want. Maybe you will get the help you need because you have serious issues. Most people will not be supporting Chris Brown. And he will FLOP. He can’t even sell tickets and his CD will not sell a lot of copies.
Rihanna will ship PLAT. Watch!

I’m gonna buy his album.
EVERYONE IS DROPPING ALBUMS EARLY BECAUSE THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IS SUFFERING BIG TIME….
I cant wait for the Janet special! I think Ive already seen a few snippets of it, it should be really good. And Im so glad she is not rushing this project for the holidays like all the above mentioned people. Mary needs to fall back until the new year also.
#14 I agree that Janet and Jam & Lewis had a creative flatline after All For You. All for You was Janet’s best album since Rhythm Nation, IMO, but a lot of people havent bought a CD from her since Velvet Rope and that was a long ass time ago. Def Jam really set her back since they suck at promotion for everybody. With the new book, the movie and the CD I think she will get a lot of support, and she will get a lot of Michael’s fans supporting her also.
THATS WHT IM TALKIN BOUT CHRIS! HE’S BOLD & I LIKE THAT ABOUT AN ARTIST!!!
IF ANYTHING RIHANNA WILL FLOP COMPARED TO HER 3RD ALBUM.
I THINK CHRIS WILL SELL MORE IN HIS FIRST WEEK THIS TIME. .
@truthfullyspeaking
SHUT THE HELL UP, U DO NOT KNOW WHAT U ARE TALKING ABOUT JANET WILL RELEASE ALBUMS FOR AS LONG AS SHE WANTS SIMPLY BECAUSE SHE CAN DO THAT, SHE HAS THE POWER AND THE PRESTIGE TO DO SO, U NEED TO FALL BACK, DON’T COME FOR JANET U WILL GET CUT
Janet’s on FIRE still!! She never went away!!
Chris Brown needs a slap.
I hope Mary J’s album will be a success. I still listen to the Breakthrough on my iPod.
@ 24 LOL then he should’ve said that.
@ 31 Janet is an established artist who has money out the ying-yang. Whether her label supports her or not, it’s still no excuse on her end. Anything she put out herself to market herself she would get in return ten-fold. Like I said, she’s been lazy, and now I think she’s learned that yes, the game has changed since your last hot album/era 8 years ago. You gonna have to work a little harder now, it’s just not gonna come easy by sitting back and using cheap gimmicks. I used to think the Super Bowl was a determining factor in her downfall, but I don’t anymore. Madonna had sand kicked in her eye by the public during the Erotica era, even Michael during the Dangerous era, and they both prevailed and kept it moving. She’s lazy. I believe JD had a ton of influence over the flops of the last 3 eras in her career. No shade to Michael’s death, but I’m sure she realizes a lot is riding on her future muscially since she’s basically the only Jackson left that truly can represent and carry the family name. She can’t afford to be tired anymore. I have a feeling that she finally gets it now…
WHO CARE YANKEES WIN ALL DAY 2009
WE NEEDED SOMETHING TO BOOST
OUR LIFE UP A BIT GO CHRIS BROWN
DAT TATTOO IS UGLY AS HELL WHY
PUT THAT CHEST TATTOO TACKY
@TruthfullySpeaking, I don’t know what’s your definition of a comeback is because it doesn’t have to do with album sales. Janet has always been here! She has never left. Mariah fans still were supporting her in 2000 when she released another album. There are bandwagon fans that join them when they’re doing something the majority likes. It all has to do with the promotion ethics of the label. I already know how Janet felt about how Virgin didn’t promote her last album with them as much as they should’ve which is why she left…she then went to Island/Def Jam and they didn’t promote the album as much as they should’ve due to her name. People stop supporting Janet for some odd reason after the SuperBowl incident. She’s always been an amazing artist but the whole point about this back and forth commenting is that Janet is a RELEVANT ARTIST. She’ll be here for as long as she wants to be.
@Lulu, just because Janet’s album peaked at #2 means she fell off…that’s funny considering how much artists want to be in the top 20…when someone falls off…they don’t sell anything….they’re no longer relevant. They don’t have no worth. I hate when people use the word FLOP everywhere considering that they went platinum. It doesn’t matter how much they USED to sell because no one is selling physical music like they used to. Mariah didn’t ‘revist’ a time when she was hot…she was still HOT, regardless to what latecoming bandwagon riders think…because a majority didn’t buy or hear the album doesn’t mean it’s not great….
@ FURIOUS STYLES
LOVE YA!!! SWEETIE
YOU GO CHRIS!!!!!!
YOU KNOW YOU GOT IT. AND IF YOU GOT IT. YOU WILL SHINE.
Mary ain’t slick. She always puts her wack albums out around Christmas. Whateva.
I’m looking forward to seeing Janet in “Why did I get married 2″. Should be good. Not looking forward to her music though.
I’m sooo sick of Mary singing about herself all the time!
There are other things to sing about besides yourself.
JESUS’ SECRETARY on YouTube.com
I love good music and Mary never disappoints there’s always something on her album I can relate to.
Great to see all the latest Janet news…funny some of you said she’s lazy…for a woman who is 43 and has been in the game since she was 7…nothing lazy about that..All that means is that she has nothing to prove…At the end of the day she’s still putting up better #’s then most the kats out today…Her fan base is solid and she already said she gona be doing this till she can’t do it anymore..
At the end of the day Chris is going to sale albums. If people can still fu*k with R. Kelly then Chris will be fine…
I like Mary…but i think she’s still chasing the success of Breakthrough…like she’s not gona be relevant if she doesn’t take a break….but at the end of the day she never disappoints….
@ChillinDC, Thank you for your great observation. Janet has been doing this since she could physically run. Lazy? Right.
