I like her accent in the song, but something about the video does not seem right. Yes I know its just a video but what happen to the young lady from Barbados who had personality, life & vigor? She seems so dark and looking at her you can tell that she’s not happy… Her family really needs to sit down & talk to her. Rhi’s direction seems lost & its not a good look at all. She’s grown yes & in these hard times she really needs to hold close to the Lord. Also its not a good look how Def Jam isn’t even promoting Amerie like they should but Rhi gets the promotion & her album didn’t even drop yet….ok. Someone in Rhi’s camp is playing the game well & its at the expense of other artists…..

@9, YOU SPEAK THE TRUTH! lol
@10, uh sweetness, Beyonce DID NOT invent the black and white video concept. I’m a life-long Janet fan, so I could say she’s biting the hell outta half of JANET’S videos! (Rhythm Nation, Miss U Much, Black Cat, I could go on…) Beyonce is not the end of all end, nor the oracale!
I LOVED the video and Ri Ri is officially THE HOTTEST CHICK IN THE GAME in my opinion. I love her edgy style, and she is making her mark for all the haters, like it or not! GO RI RI, GO RI RI, GO RI RI!!!! Can’t wait to see her Diane Sawyer interview 2morrow.

THEN YOU CAN GET ANOTHER DOSE OF RIH ON 20/20. HER HATERS WATCH HER MORE THAN HER FANS DO SO I KNOW THE RATINGS WILL BE THROUGH THE ROOF!

Also I’m sick of people complaining about Amerie. Rihanna stans probably were buying multiple copies of her album and singles. So Amerie stans need to rep that hard for her. Rihanna has a VERY strong fan base. I could never see them letting her flop. She is #2 on Itunes and the billboard hot 100 will update their charts tomorrow so we will see how it does because I know her digital sales have been crazy because of that.
Go out and support the artists you love and quit complaining.

@bored since your a rihanna hater, your opinion don’t count to her fans, thats why she keeps climbing the charts. and @386 I agree with you. Why are people blaming rihanna for ameries situation. Amerie came out way before rihanna, she was out since about 2002, or there abouts, if she hasn’t developed a fan base by now, how is rihanna to blame?

Who’s career did she crush my brotha? lmao.. a whole buncha bitter people who dont have nothing else to do but sit and hate on someone who is making a name and being successful. Why yall mad cause yall broke and she making millions? What yall dont have insurance on yours legs like she does? For some of you hateful mongrels, yall know that hate, negativity and ignorance can hinder your blessings and stop you from getting the things that you seek in life. The money, success, or anything you desire does not come to those who sit and be hateful towards another. We do not know what exactly goes on in this girls mind to just sit and be malicious. We’re going to comment objectively, as if we had never seen a Rihanna vid or heard one of her songs before.
For us, this video just doesn’t work. If you want to carry off a black and white vid you have to come hard - as if you have a problem with someone. At many points during thiis, Rihanna just isn’t believable.
This whole ‘dark’ thing that’s going on in it doesn’t work, either. Anthony Mandler used to be a director for rock videos and you can see that influence in all the vids Def Jam has hired him for (Disturbia, Run This Town, Heard ‘Em All, and, we’ll bet, the upcoming Russian Roulette). Exactly why they keep using him is quite confusing. He’s definitely not up there with the Joseph Kahns and Hype Williams of the video world, though he’s not entirely crap either. He just doesn’t seem to fit with the R&B/ Pop image. Though this is less Rihanna’s fault and more her team’s. (cont…)

Let me say this, it always amuses me how much my commentary annoys people, and yet they’ll read it lmao. You cannot “make things up” and have it hold water and bear fruit. You have to read and research, which most black people are too lazy-minded to do.
@ME
Yes they plan the video and the message meticulously. Why wouldn’t they? A ruling class mentality predicates that you plan ahead. A slave-minded individual believes that things “just happen”. That’s why people like you are always so incredulous. Obviously it’s not easy to analyze, because if it was, you would do it lol. “Anything” cannot be applied because, again, you have to know what you’re seeing to know what message is being conveyed. You clearly don’t, nor should you continue to read what I post if you are not on the level. The easiest way to disprove or prove something is to DO THE RESEARCH.
@MARI
Please understand that I’m not concerned with you or anyone else’s worship of these people, or some of you black women’s idiotic Beyonce vs. Rihanna vs. Ciara war lol. I’ve never said that Beyonce wasn’t a pawn. She is just as much as anyone else of that status in the industry. Her role as Jay-Z’s consort is to symbolize the union of the sun god (Jay-Hova) and the moon goddess (the “Diva”). She and Rihanna are interchangeable in the role of Isis. The white man is dealing with Beyonce at a higher level than Rihanna at this point. That is the only difference. Beyonce’s video for “Sweet Dreams” was as demonic as anything put out and it also alluded to her MK-ULTRA “Oz” programming, which is why she was involved in the VMA ritual with another “Oz” programmed slave, “Taylor Swift” (which I doubt is her real name). They had “Oz” (an abbreviation for Osiris) spray painted on the VMA stage.

And that’s another thing. Knowing how badly people reacted to the song, they needed to come hard with a video - if not as good as that of Umbrella, then at least as good as S.O.S’. Instead this is what they gave us; only a few scenes in a church, on a bridge, and what looks like a car park - they hardly spent a budget of more than $250,000. And that’s not good. Not to bring him up here, but, by the looks of it, that Joseph- Kahn- directed I Can Transform Ya debuted at #56 on BB Hot 100 and climbed up to #26 already, while Russian Roulette debuted at #100. This is not intended to bring Rihanna/Chris beef, but simply meant to point out what a good video can do for a song.

This is one step too far - they need to tone this whole slightly Marilyn Manson-ic look down - if only to regain the many fans she seems to have lost (and the many people who we’ve seen on this post and others on different websites all saying they used to be fans. ‘Used’ is never a good word when it comes to making a comeback. Next thing you know, it’ll be : ‘Oh, yeah, she ‘used’ to be famous’).
And, finally, for those who will undoubtedly come saying we’re ‘hating hard’, please note that we own the A Girl Like Me album and have the entire GGGB album downloaded, so it’s not like we’re just here to ‘hate’. These are criticisms of someone who admittedly cannot really perform live and so used to come with great songs to make up for it and stay relevant in a game where many are considerably more talented than her. Sadly, from what we’ve hard so far, with the exception of ‘Hard’ (which is quite good), Rated R doesn’t seem like it’s going to live up to the standard of her last album. And this will disappoint many of her fans who’ve been hyped up by JT, Ne-yo and many others all saying this album will be sick.
For her sake, we hope it will be.

People keep saying Rihanna is a pawn and has no control over her career then want to say she’s demonic for the way she dresses (you say it’s her stylist) the lyrics to her songs (you say she doesn’t write them) her videos (you say she’s just a puppet) so how then does she get all the blame for being demonic if she’s not the one controlling the images that you see?

You do realize that is just your opinion right? For every one fan she supposedly lost she has gained five more. If those fair weather fans can’t comprehend that artists change and evolve and their music usually reflects that well 2 bad. I don’t know about you but life sure isn’t sunny and bright every day of the week where I live. Some days you are in a “dark” place and want to hear dark music. If I’m going through something at the time maybe I want to hear Russian Roulette and Pon De Replay just isn’t getting it. What is so hard to understand about that? If you want happy and uplifting pop in some Mary Mary or something. It’s all about choice and variety. You have a choice not to listen to it. No one is holding a gun to your head and forcing you. You might not be feeling her but make no mistake about it many many people are feeling her so I wish all these assumptions would cease. Just say you won’t be buying it and stop trying to speak for the public at large. You don’t speak for me.

To all those who feel the need to attack us.,..
Please read our comment again.
Our use of ‘we’ means that there isn’t just one person who wrote that comment. We wrote it cause that is the way we feel and we are entitled to do so.
Perhaps you need to be visiting more than this site and see what other people are saying. Many people on these sites and others we know personally are saying they’ve gone off her of late. That is not a criticism, that is a fact.
No the world isn’t always a happy place, but at the same time, the rumours we mentioned before seem to be doing her no favours. You can be dark without being seen to be heading down the ‘wrong path’.
We were not attacking Rihanna personally; we do not know her and that wouldn’t be fair.
However, we are entitled to our opinion and to post what we think, and, indeed, what many seem to be thinking; you have to admit there is something a bit off about her recently. Though, if you notice, unlike many we don’t feel the need to call her a ‘whore’ etc.
And, again, it is not as if we are ‘hating’. Most of the time we like Rihanna’s music, loved all of GGGB and most of A Girl Like Me and are not here to slag her off, just state what we feel; which is that her people don’t seem to be on point right now.
This is the last time we’re commenting on this post. We don’t have the time or inclination to go back and forth with anyone, just wanted to come on here and state our opinion.
Peace.

Ya know!! Personally I love music for all types of moods I am in. I listen to Mary Mary and Yolonda Adams some days, others im listening to neo soul (musiq soulchild, jill scott), and other days im listening to Rihanna’s Russian Roulette and Evanescence. I love all types of music. If thats the case with Rihannas music, whats up with all these heartbreak songs, all these songs about sex from teenagers when the teen pregnancy rate is SKY HIGH!!!! What about the songs about sex, that doesnt mention you wearing a condom, or birth control, or getting married when that child of wedlock is born?
People need to get a grip. If that is the case with Ri Ri all music is evil, even GOSPEL because they all get paid to sing it. People out here need to think and stop being brainwashed.

Her team should also have acknowledged the fact that many people already think Rihanna worships Lucifer (claims we think are unfounded); they should have realised that releasing video after video like this will not go down well, and will only further substantiate those rumours. Yes, Rihanna may be trying to be ‘edgy’, but, quite frankly how many of you actually preferred the ‘edgy’ Rihanna of Umbrella? Yes, she had dark hair, an admittedly sick hair style and some good stylists and it may have been v. contrived - but she was also Just Dark Enough without being accused of being a freemason . Who seems to be sooo obsessed with us. Why are you getting all Furious Styles on us? I’m sitting here with my girls and we all wrote that comment together. Please grow up and realise that not everybody is all up in Rihanna’s arse.
We did not intend for this to be a personal attack until you started looking like you failed English. Which apparently you did. Our second comment was worded very carefully and we explained why we used ‘we’ in the first couple of paragraphs.
Now, you can come back at us all you want, we are not going to respond to anymore of your arse-kissing comments. Stop getting all up in our air and chatting shit because it becomes obvious just how stupid you are.
So, please, before you embarass yourself any further and keep getting called out by random people - as you have been above-, get a life and stop attacking everyone who isn’t feeling the video/song which they are allowed to do. Not all of us have to love the video. That is the point we made clear. We did not like it. Full stop.

Yea your a grade A loser. You sit there with your friends and feed into their decision to say what you cant think for yourselves. And like I SAID it takes one person to type. Dont be a coward and sit there and say me and my girls. Obvisouly this proves your not an adult and your a child.
Let me school you a little bit.
The dark image of music has been perpetuated in the music industry for years. Sweety your not the first person to say someone is demonic. People said the same thing about KISS, Ozzy Osbourne, Prince and many more. So what happened to those people? They gained hella fans and also became successful and live their lives in peace.
Your a truly sad individual to sit there and say “we typed this comment together”. Who sits there and groups up a comment to type on a blog site? Weird huh? yep that’s what you are. You wrote a novel about why Rihanna might lose fans and what not and that may be very well YOUR opinion. But sweety you talking like you run a damn record label and know what marketing means.
You are not embarrassing me hun, I am a grown woman and I know what my beliefs and morals are and where I stand in life. I just don’t and can’t tolerate closed minded people. And your certainly one of them. I show my face and name and certainly am not ashamed to make myself known. You a dumb ass chick and sound like a young one at that. Just like you and your girls came together and shared a brain to post that comment, millions of other people don’t agree with you so I don’t care if you are just one person with multiple personalities or 5 people. Don’t worry she is just a child and needs people to GROUP her opinion for her. No one is saying her opinion is right or wrong. But she needs to expect people to respond either with logic or through her passion for Rihanna style and music. She also needs to realize that WHO THE HELL TYPES A COMMENT WITH FRIENDS LMAO…The thing that kills me about people is if you don’t like the song, that’s coo, don’t like the video, that’s ight as well. But don’t say something is DEMONIC. There are plenty of demonic things going on that your doing and they don’t even be aware of it. They are so small and silly minded. No one said anything about Diddy when he did that Angels joint in the church and he should be the last person to step foot in one. But I digress cause I do not judge.

Rihanna’s fans are a diverse group of people. We have a diverse taste in music as Cris said. We listen to all kinds of music. Rihanna is one of the people I like. I’m getting really fed up with the people on this site assuming that Rihanna’s fans don’t know what good music is because we are fans of hers. I’m also getting sick of all the people saying she can’t sing and she has no talent. I like her voice and millions agree. So until you get a record deal, get up on stage in front of millions of viewers and do it better than Rihanna you have no room to talk so just fall back with all the insults.

@ CLAPS WITH GAYDAR
Thats all I been trying to tell people. You think your more beautiful, artistic and vocally range is on point, then by all means walk up to a Record Exec and get it poppin. Other than that don’t comment about negative ideals and theories that someone brainwashed you with.

For real..with all the things going on in the world that really are demonic (murders/rapes/child molestation/and the list goes on and on) these people decide to come for Rihanna and a music video? I guarantee they are not out in the real world doing a damn thing to rid their communities of those demons but want to come and get all holier than thou on a blog. Give me a break.

@ trinib alright den supposedly big people fighting on the computer…lol lol lol.
And we all know there are other “demonic” things happening in and around the world and just alot of craziness. I think the people on here know this but what you all must realise that this post is on Rihanna’s video not on all the other things going on in the world or even with other artiste, so its only obvious te people on here would only speak of Rihanna. This does not mean that they accept or agree or anything of the sort with the other “bad” things going on in and around the world.

Well Said….Please continue to enlighten…
It makes us all think a bit on if things are as straightforward as we might think they are. But based on your findings clearly there is much more than we realize that is happening.
Some might agree with your analysis, some might not,no problem.
But please to continue observe and inform.
Good job!

@tha phoenix, we get it your not feeling it, so why are you still on this post two days going strong? Are you and your friends holding an all night vigil or something ? Damn I now know what it means to keep your friends close and your enemies closer, because the people who claim not to be feeling rihanna are the ones sticking to her post like glue. meaning they’re keeping her closer than ever and watching her every move.

It’s a pity to see how Satan has blinded the youth and robbed people from true knowledge and divine wisdom. I am not surprised because the Word of God says that he “deceived the whole world”. But there comes a point and time when enough is enough! When one takes a stand for the TRUTH and refuses to let the enemy and his pawns get away with their schemes. More people are waking up as the Lord is shedding light on what was once sealed in secrecy. Robyn Fenty.. I don’t know what to say, may God deliver you in Jesus’ name. He is the One who sets the captives free!

The video bored me. It looks like a continuation of “Run this Town”, with the dance and hand movements. As well as the eye patch. The song is kinda catchy. Not really my taste of music. I really liked her single with Jeezy “Hard”, that joint is hawt.
Lol @ Judah.

Looking at these comments, I just have to ask this question:
Does the truth hurt that bad that stans have to attack someone that doesn’t like the video? Its called a damn opinion for christ sake. Stans have to realize that everyone is not going to like Rihanna, and you have to except that. Like I said, I was reading the comments, and I just have to say that even though things could have been said in a better way, some of the things are not just pure hate, they’re FACTS. Like for example, when folk say she can’t sing and dance. Thats not hate, thats a FACT. Everytime she performs on stage she proves that to be a FACT. But of course people are going to attack you, because like I said the truth hurts. If we’re lying about her not being a good performer, then when someone types that down, DON’T RESPOND. Its just that simple.

@ G Town
What you think is fact is actually called an opinion. Just like some people dont think that Beyonce is pretty or that Amerie cant sing. Those are called OPINIONS. Because there are some people out there who think that Beyonce is gorgeous and some people who think that Amerie is a better vocalist than Rihanna. Facts is a “statement or assertion of verified information about something that is the case or has happened; “he supported his argument with an impressive array of facts”. Rihanna not being able to dance and sing is not a fact, it is an opinion. I am a strong fan of hers and I feel that no she can not BLOW, she is not Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson or Jordin Sparks. She can not dance either, but her voice works with certain beats, lyrics and styles.

A Must Read for 2009 - Excellent!
Haters/ By Maya Angelou
A hater is someone who is jealous and envious and spends all their
time trying to make you look small so they can look tall.
They are very negative people to say the least. Nothing is ever
good enough!
When you make your mark, you will always attract some haters…
That’s why you have to be careful with whom you share your
blessings and your dreams, because some folk can’t handle seeing
you blessed…
It’s dangerous to be like somebody else…. If God wanted you to be
like somebody else, He would have given you what He gave them! Right?
You never know what people have gone through to get what they
have…
The problem I have with haters is that they see my glory, but they
don’t know my story….
If the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence, you
can rest assured that the water bill is higher there too!
We’ve all got some haters among us!
Some people envy you because you can:
a) Have a relationship with God
b) Light up a room when you walk in
c) Start your own business
d) Tell a man/woman to hit the curb
(if he/she isn’t about the right thing)
e) you are a strong person and don’t let people run you over
f) you have a strong and loving marriage and they can’t get in-between spouses to spoil it
Haters can’t stand to see you happy.
Haters will never want to see you succeed.
Most of our haters are people who are supposed to be
on our side (like some family and friends).
How do you handle your undercover haters?
You can handle these haters by:
1. Knowing who you are & who your true friends are
*(VERY IMPORTANT!!)
2. Having a purpose to your life: Purpose does not
mean having a job. You can have a job and still be
unfulfilled.
A purpose is having a clear sense of what God has called you to be.
Your purpose is not defined by what others think about you.
3. By remembering that what you have is by divine
prerogative and not human manipulation.
Fulfill your dreams! You only have one life to live…when its your
time to leave this earth, you want to be able to say, ‘I’ve lived my
life and fulfilled my dreams, Now I’m ready to go HOME!
When God gives you favor, you can tell your haters, ‘Don’t look at
me…Look at who is in charge of me…’
Pass this to all of your family & friends who you know are
not hating on you including the person who sent it to you.
If you don’t get it back, maybe you called somebody out!
Don’t worry about it, it’s not your problem, it’s theirs.
Just pray for them, that their life can be as fulfilled as
yours! Watch out for Haters…BUT most of all don’t become
a HATER!
‘A woman’s heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man
should have to seek Him first to find her.’
