CL, I’m always disappointed when you post white people on here. Since when was there black music? Black people started many of the genres of music that we have today, but I don’t understand how someone can classify a white artist as being with the black crowd just because of music or style. That is so dumb.
Lady Gaga is nothing but white trash who has black producers to back her up because she is white. Polow Da Don admitted to doing these types of things. People like Fergie, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera… all do this, but it’s funny because you don’t hear about Keyshia Cole or India Arie on Pop blogs. I wish black people would stop it with that, oh she’s a cool white or different race/ethnicity chick so she’s with us.
Anyway, this video was okay. I’m disappointed in Shakira. I used to like her, but she’s gotten a little bit more provocative. She has a unique voice, but she cannot dance for anything. She looks so awkward moving around. And what’s with all the black back up dancers? Is she trying to appeal to an urban crowd because Lil Wayne’s in the song. I don’t wanna hear that, she’s embracing an African Culture, you wanna know why??? People there’s white people in Africa too!
BTW, I can deal with people like Joss Stone and Amy Winehouse being posted on here, because there music really is urban/soulful, not them, but the others….

I thought the video was cute and different for Shakira and I do feel she is trying something different. But I did see some things in the video that strikes me as odd. What ever happened to good ole fashion music videos without all the hidden symbolism and worshiping of false Gods? You can hardly watch a video without feeling like your being programmed. And what was the message that everyone was saying is so good? At one point I heard her say ” lock me away in a cage and I’ll do whatever you want” ODD!
When Shakira dresses up as this Statue of Liberty goddess, who does Indian/Balinese-like dances, it does remind me of that Indian god. There’s is a dual symbolism, but I don’t think it has to do with religion—but more world music choreography.

Why do people keep saying she “look” like Bey?? If anything Bey look like Shakira. Face keeps getting lighter and blonde lace fronts keep getting longer. Shakira has been in music with the same look for years. But, she took a break for a couple of years and guess what another artist took her hip shaking moves and long blonde curly hair look to the next level. Artist like Shakira who have talent and have been away for a while need to stop coming back wearing body suits and stop with the stripper-es moves, they need to give us something different. The one good new thing that she did give us were the sistas doing back up, when was the last time you seen that many chocolate sistas in a video..

First and foremost Shakira is COLOMBIAN!!!! Secondly Shakira has always been in the music biz but not as mainstream as she is now. She has done a lot in Latino music with CD’s in her native language which is spanish (correct me if i’m wrong). As for her TRYING to be like Bey..NEVER THAT. I like the choreography, and the song is a lil bit catchy, but thats about it, it doesn’t wow me. Plus Lil Wayne is overrated.
