Solange has been in and out of the studio, while still doing performances all over the world, working on her currently untitled third studio album.
When asked about the direction of the third album, Solange said that the new record will pick up where “This Bird” left off, experimenting with more electronic and down-beat elements. There presently is no release date for the album, but it’s good to hear some of the fruits of Solo’s labor.
It’s doubtful that the new track, “Stillness Is the Move,” a cover of the Dirty Projectors, which sample’s Dr. Dre’s “Xxplosive” (originally sampling Soul Mann & The Brothers’ “Bumpy’s Lament”), will make the album.

Love love love Solange’s artistry. Love the song as well — even tho like #4 the Badu stan in me heard Bag Lady. I just wish I loved Solange’s voice as much.. Not to say she cannot sing, but there is just something about it I do not like.. can’t put my finger on it. Wish her much success tho! This will prob have to grow on me like her voice had to grow on me with the second album.

One thing I do know is that she has found the world’s best vocal coach and is obviously the star pupil cause her voice is effin perfect on this song. Maaaan shit she singin on this thing! I definitely like the old-skool sample that she decided to throw on here. I hope this can be the first single of a new album to like people know her true sound because I definitely liking on Solange right now. She’s bringing something new to “Mainstream R&B”. She needs the recognition very soon.

I can’t help but hear Badu. I love this beat so much I’d probably like any song over it, but it’s cool. Nothing to write home about. Hopefully this isn’t an official single or anything it would be a waste and no one did it like Badu…not even Dr. Dre and it’s his beat. lol!

the LYRICS are from DIRTY PROJECTOR’s STILLNESS IS THE MOVE, and their song only samples this beat in the beginning of the song. correct me if i’m wrong, but the rest of the song uses a different beat completely, not even the same melody (at least it doesn’t sound the same to me) so she sampled from both dre and the dirty projectors. idk why erykah is being talked about here b/c she sampled his beat but her lyrics were different so solange didn’t take anything from her
