So a hot topic on the blogs right now is the recent photo of baseball player Sammy Sosa (from the Dominican Republic) and his wife, Sonya at a Latin Grammy award event last week.
As you can tell his skin looks completely different in the comparison shot with his wife that was taken a few years ago (pictured below).
Many agree that he bleached his skin, some even say that he is suffering from Vitiligo, but a friend of his recently spoke with The Chicago Tribune and said this:
“He’s not trying to be Michael Jackson. He is going through a rejuvenation process for his skin. Women have it all of the time. He was surprised he came out looking so white. I thought it was a body double. Part of (the photo appearance) is just the lighting. He is in the middle of doing a cleansing process to his skin. The picture is deceiving.”
He said, ‘If you saw me in person, you would be surprised. When you see me in person, it is not going to seem like the picture.’
“People who saw him in person did not react the same way. He can’t believe it is such a big deal.” [SOURCE]

I’m confused because when i watched the Tyra show about the ladies bleaching their skin, it didn’t look like the bleach worked to me. But Sammy has an obvious difference…maybe they use that cheap stuff, and he has that real stuff!

Michael Jackson did have vitiligo, but there is a process that can make the skin all the same colour. Some people do not like walking around with patches, so they undergo the process.
Not sure what it’s called. Why do people insist MJ did not have vitiligo? Doctors have come out and said it, and there are pictures to prove it. Do your research.

My whole thing is if he did have vetiligo why didn’t he have makeup to make him look dark as opposed to just looking lighter. Its almost as if he had a chance to go either way and he took the lighter option.
Also its funny to me because this guy wasn’t bad looking at all. He seemed nice enough so I don’t know why he would do that.
And as a note when you talk about race its really a way to CLASSIFY people its not a means of IDENTIFY them. Just think of someone who is domincan, african, indian, african american, cambodian and spanish/latin. Those are all different shades of browns and tans. But they don’t catogeorize them in one category they are all seperated to try to classify the type of people. Just think about that.

And michaels was not only lighter, Michael was literally white, his skin was void of any pigment whats soever like an albino, which was obviously medical and for those who say Michael never showed any signs of vitiligo, you forget this is a man whom was never seen in public for over 20 years with out 20 pounds of make-up on, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see he was trying to hide something, unlike sammy who looks like he had some of those glycilic acid peel treatments to lighten his skin up to the desired effect.
