My thoughts on the interview was that it was a little rehearsed and staged BUT with that said I do feel it was important for Rihanna to speak on the situation. Domestic violence is no joke and whether Chris beat her or not some light needs to be shed on the situation. It’s obvious this was used as a publicity for her album but I’m glad she spoke out. Why ? because chris was guilty, and there was no way around it, but to take a lesser plea of no jail time but community service and probation. Okay, this is my take on this whole situation:

I think Chris is truly sorry. But because he is so young, he don’t know how to outwardly express it. Also given his family history, and he got a little bit of a bad boy swagger, they don’t go around looking sad on the outside. Chris is very immature, and very naive. He’s also not the most articulate person, so it’s hard to get his points and feelings across. I truly think he was sorry because of what he said to Rhianna, days after the incident. Because he was so obstracized in that backlash, i think he started to have the attitude like, okay i said i was sorry, man, bump this…and started wearing stuff that expressed how he felt. He felt dejected and rejected even in the wake of his apology. He truly only owed apologies to a few people in his life including Rhianna….And when he was on the motorboat laughing, that was because he thought he and rhianna was going to still make it, and kindda giving the public the “f” you finger….Like hah, yall told her not to come back, but she’s back….remember yall he’s a child… He’s one year younger than her.

As far as Rhianna goes. She’s no angel, and i never thought she was. I admire how she was able to come on the scene and quickly took her place as a superstar. HOWEVER, i have never thought she was without blame. Clearly she lied several times during the Diane Sawyer interview, even Diane gave her the side eye once or twice…First she said she didn’t hate him, then she went back and said she did at one point. Then she said she wants his career to flourish, but then you decide to, AFTER A VERY LONG PAUSE to air this interview just when he’s about to drop a album. Then she publicly claimed to have never seen the chris brown apology on youtube, and we straight know she lying about that, but even then, why did she have to say it looks like he was reading from a teleprompter, even if it was true (giving people the impression he’s insincere in his apology) He might have used it because he didn’t want to forget the words, or he knows he’s limited verbally…i think she said that on purpose because for some reason right now she is mad at him….When Diane asked her what she thought of the tape, she could have focused on what he was saying in the tape, and not on how he was saying it. She claims to not be angry at him, but you could tell she is. She was sitting there trying to pretend to be all grown and cool, and came off differently. She came off as someone “acting” grown and cool. I don’t know i didn’t buy it.

All in all, i think both of them enjoyed good times and bad times. I think Chris is struggling to regain his life….one thing he knows for sure, even if he thought it was okay to hit a woman, the world showed him how fast they would send him packing back to the ghetto; he knows he can’t do that again. And even if he’s being forced into domestic violence classes, either way it seems to be getting through to him.

I think all young men who witness their fathers beat their mothers, and young girls who witness the same likeness she receive counseling as children, because to be a front seat theater ticketholder to that type of event is very traumatizing to a child, and whether they know it or not has already started to shape their future relationships before they could even start them.

If you want to add more into something that wasn’t said by either one of them, to make yourself feel good about hating rihanna then go ahead. The point is that rihanna said she did not hit chris first, and I believe her. Chris never said that she did, so I am going by both their statements.

There are a couple of things that need to be reiterated:

1. Domestic Violence represents a vicious cycle that people often learn in their childhood. Even if you don’t think someone would be abusive or “hit a woman for no reason’, a person often learns how to behavior in this manner from what they witness in their childhood.

2. Many people on this post are trying to make logical sense of an issue that, often times, is illogical. Abuse can seem like it “doesn’t make sense” to some, but it is how a person LEARNED to behave.

3. Domestic violence is about power and control. The abuser wants to dominate the victim and wants all the power in the relationship — often using violence in order to establish and maintain authority and power. So it makes sense that Chris Brown would react in violence if he felt someone was challenging his authority (i.e., questioning him about a text message).

4. This behavior is maladaptive and should not be excused, minimized, or trivialized. Period.

5. Victim is not synonymous with “angelic”. In other words, calling an individual a victim does not mean we are implying that one is “perfect” or “angelic”. Rihanna was the recipient of the assault. Therefore, she is the victim.

It’s really disappointing that girls would attack Rihanna AFTER they all know Chris Brown’s VIOLENCE was Out of CONTROL and EXCESSIVE.

Chris Brown himself is still not clear on what he did and the sad thing is there are so many others who just don’t understand what domestic violence is. People still want to blame the VICTIM and look the other way at the ABUSER. This is the MOST tragic thing out of this situation is. It’s clear from Rihanna’s interview this is STILL a very hard and EMOTIONAL thing for her. She has shown her feelings and is honest that even AFTER all of this drama that she still does not have all the answers. Where Chris will tell you (unconvincingly) he will NEVER be abusive again (LIE). This is the main difference between these two. Rihanna is Authentic Chris is NOT!

God is with Rihanna. She will be more accepted and supported. This is how you can tell which if these two is more HONEST.

I’m so GLAD she spoke on such a National Stage for such an important issue.

1. HOW do you know she is lying? Please provide evidence for your statements.

2. HOW do you know that something is missing? Again, please provide evidence.

3. WHAT did she leave out? Please tell me and, again, provide evidence. Seems as if she answered many of the questions circulating the blogs (i.e., whether she hit him, the events of the night, etc.)

4. If she were lying, wouldn’t she know that she would get caught? This interview is nationally broadcast. Surely if she were lying, someone would counteract her story (besides those commenting).

The fact of the matter is none of us were in the car on that night. Is she leaving things out? Possibly. Is she blatantly lying? I doubt it. This would be a horrible career move if she were.
