Sometimes I agree with you statement, but you can also look at it like this.
When these celebrities ‘advertise’ their good deeds, it gives exposure to great causes. It makes people aware of such charities and foundations, and that it turn get them more donations.
So you can look at it as a win- win situation
Who even cares if their do it for publicity (which Nelly is not). As long as they help it’s fine. Why not have pics to show that you care. People complain about every thing nowadays.

@ #8- I agree. I always used to think when celebs advertised themself giving to charity they were doing it to publicise themself. Though it wasn’t until recently that I was watching an interview with a celeb who shall remain nameless (lol) and she was told from her pastor that you’re known for being an entertainer but what about the philanthropist you are? You could use your power not just to let people go out and buiy your music but to give to charity also so unless you give and you tell people about it then how will your fans know to give also?
This is a good look from Nelly though. More people need to be out helping.

And I forgot to say, it’s not all about giving money, you could use some of your spare time and help out at shelters or charity organisations/ fundraisers. It’s all deemed as a charitable cause and positiveity for your community.
Nelly’s sister died of cancer, I doubt he is doing this for publicity. He gives back regularly.
It’s kind of hard to see Nelly in this light.
I remember that controversial issue at Spellman College when Nelly came to the school to talk about Lukemia and he was banned from the college because of his vile sexist videos. I think this is nothing more than a photo opportunity from a pathethic “man” who spends more time making himself and his race look coonish.
This man disrespects African Americans with his tacky cliche videos and pedestrian music. I for one do see any sincerity in these pictures. Nelly is not any humantarian.

All of us at one point or another have done something without an entirely selfless motive. Regardless, God has a way of turning it into a blessing for someone. The blessing here is that the children are experiencing some joy in the midst of having to fight one of the toughest battles ever. My hope is that they also realize a gift greater than the ones that they hold in their hands – Jesus Christ.
Now this is what I’m talkin about, some positive news for a change.

What a nice gesture. Giving back to a cause that has touched him personally!!!! Clearly he hasn’t forgotten and wont forget.
That’s one of the things that I love about Nelly is that he has a big heart! He volunteered with kids b4 he became “Nelly” he’s just keeping it up. It’s good for all celebs to spotlight their causes and bring awareness to it. If I was a kid I would want a picture too hell I’m grown and still want one. God will give double blessings to him for what they did to his house and I’m not referring to money either. Keep it up Nelly always sexy.

I think that some of these comments can be so close-minded. If someone doesn’t agree with celebs taking pics for charity, then why shouldn’t they express that? I think that if you are going to give back, don’t take pics or get tax deductions, that’s not from the heart, and as we all know or should know, being charitable is only done correctly when it comes from the heart. I’m not saying that Nelly isn’t doing it from the heart, but I find it funny how he and a bunch of celebs can have inappropriate music and videos, but once they do “a good deed” everyone forgets it.
Anyway, everyone should give back and I think that most people do. At the grocery store when the clerk asks you if you wanna donate to a charity, to the basketball or football teams standing outside the store asking for money, to GoodWill, I am a full time college student and don’t have much, and I just donated a huge amount of clothes I never worn to my school’s clothing drive. So everyone should try to do what they can.
