AWARENESS: WORLD AIDS DAY 2009

The statistics regarding AIDS in our communities are frightening: there are more black youth with AIDS than all other racial and ethnic groups combined. But today, on World AIDS Day, there is something each of us can do to combat this worldwide epidemic which has already claimed the lives of over 25 million people.

Stopping AIDS is like learning your ABCs: Abstain from sex, Be faithful to a single partner and use a Condom each and every time you have sex.

Concrete Loop urges you to keep talking about the issue and get tested regularly.

omg there are more black youth with aids than whites, asians, hispanics, middle easterns combined??? good Lord!

whats going on with the black community? i really do think you guys are lost (not all but some) the stats are sad! aids, father-less homes, education & poverty smh

do people dont care? whats going on a la marvin gay!

how did aids get so bad? drug usage? down low men?

Lord have mercy on these people

  5. RIP TO THE MARTYRS

thank you for this useful post

  6. JAZZY P

BE wise and Rap it UP! Try to keep one partner please ppl! Never saw so many folk with more than one cut bud! SHEESH!

  7. Tell it like it is

As long as aids has a homosexual or a Black face don’t expect people to get excited about it. We really need to evaluate our lifestyles and make some hard decisions if Black folks expect to be around 50 years from now.

Our birth rate is less than 1 child per family. We abort our children at alarming rates. Did you noticed that Planned Parenthood tends to be in urban communities and it’s founder started this organization to control the population of undesirables….Black folk.

In order to sustain our race in the US we need a birth rate of 3 children per family. At less than .9 children our cities will become the reservations like the First Americans.

So how do we stop the spread of aids….do as others have done for generations…just say no! Control what you listen to and watch.

You can make a difference today by loving you!

  8. Tell it like it is

Pleas note…wrapping it up does not protect you from the spread of STD. I know toooooo many people that got pregnant using this method.

Don’t do it and that includes oral sex…..and you won’t have to be tested.

Condoms are a joke. Pray if you need strength. Take up a hobby. You are more than what’s between your legs.

  9. R U SERIOUS??? NEW DC SOCIALITE BUT MADE MY OWN MONEY

Thanks J, we have to stop playing stupid we all know yet we are ignoring what is the real.

  10. JAZZY P

Yea #8 u right but hell if u got to do it(in which we are because we are human) At least be safe and not sorry. Be educated about it.. Rap it up or whatever. But to each its own! Im abstinent.

  11. Tell it like it is

I’d love to see this post make at least 100.

Do you REALLY have to have sex? I mean you aren’t going to die if you don’t.

I’m glad you are abstaining…that is the only way to avoid it sexually.

But come on I know women that got pregnant using a condom and there are some STD’s condoms cannot protect you against.

Some men will have sex with women and have obvious infections, or know their status.
I do not condone ignorance, however we aren’t animals controlled by hormones and urges.

One sexual act can leave you infertile, scarred, or dead. Is it really worth it?

Men as a rule do not get yearly physical exams. I’ve heard guys say they will do it and get a shot later.

The best way and really the only way is to just say no!

  12. H-Town Chic***

Abstinence is the key!!!! Wraping it up is not enough!!!

  13. H-Town Chic***

    @ # 11 Preach!!!

  14. oldlady

Abstinence!!!!! I will preach it all day! As a woman (not going to disclose my age lol) we have to look at ourselves as more than sexual objects. If your self esteem is so low that the only way you can feel good about yourself is by sex then I’m going to need you to do better asap!…not only that, but also the sharing of needles! If you are addicted to drugs there are places you can go to get clean needles and even more important, help to kick the habbit! Be blessed everyone, and if you are sexually active GET TESTED!!!!

  15. SassyT

@Tell It Like It Is – thank you for telling it like it is! Sex has become an obsession in our society. I mean a man will stick it in a woman who is on her period. How sick is that!? People act as though they will die if they don’t get any. Unfortunately many ARE dying BECAUSE they are getting it, and people still haven’t learned. I understand sex (with the right partner) is a beautiful thing, but no condom is fool-proof. Like you stated, only abstinence is, but that’s a foreign word to so many people.

  16. On the serious tip. . .

I am happy that this post was put up. Yeah, I would also like to see this post go to 100. Oh, and #2, you need to be hit. Seriously, you would rather read about someone’s drama instead of facts about something that could kill you?

    Whatever dude!!!

  17. truthfullyspeaking

Well I’m glad that some people know that ABSTINENCE IS KEY! What pisses me off about our society, is that people act like not having sex is a bad thing. WTF? What I have concluded through my research, lol, on the net, is that there are more negatives to sex than positives! The only think positives it that it may feel good, or may bring a baby. But even those have negatives because it may hurt and can even ruin a woman’s tissues and cause HPV/cervical cancer if the female has it too young, and we all know about the baby mama drama and abandoned kids. Sex now-a-days is overrated, overexposed, and has become a bad thing and it’s a shame. If people acted maturely and if people weren’t following everyone and f**king multiple partners, then there would no HIV/AIDS!

Did you know that many parents and teachers believe that we should promote sex and condemns more in sex ed classes for teens rather then teach them abstinence? WTF? How stupid is that? That’s pressuring them even more and plus, YOU CAN STILL GET HIV/AIDS AND PREGNANT when using a condemn! They’re only 50% safe when put on correctly. LOL our society in so obsessed with sex, that they’ll make any excuse for people to do it inappropriately. Also, did y’all know that 20 million females have HPV?! HPV can still spread even if wearing a condemn if it’s around a man’s genital area! I’m not saying don’t have it, but people need to wait, keep ONE partner, and do it at a mature and grown age. This also includes oral sex, which is easier to spread the disease. Why are people so naïve?

  18. LINDA

Since everyone in there mama just about having sex. People please use common sense wrap it up. use condoms. Do what you have to do to protect us in yourself. Stop all this screwing around with every Tom Dick and Shanicka that you meet. Since people want to just do it like they buying or puting on the next nikes or jordans put on a condom the same way or maybe nike should come out with some nike condoms. Just saying people be safe. World AIDS Day 2009.

  19. Still Here

Please get tested folks! Knowing your status is key. Even if you are positive your life is not over! There are people living good lives post being positive. It’s something no one should have to go through but if you get caught up keep going! At 25 years old I am positive and still live a great life in the entertainment industry! Be safe and be who you are because if you don’t love yourself and want love badly YOU WILL GET IT BADLY!

  20. Victim

You know what to be honest with everyone…the best thing now before you get into a relationship with anybody is that you both need to get tested. I wish i would’ve did that…but i didn’t and became a victim of HIV (but i’m looking fab, and feeling fab despite it all). I was with one person and thought that i could really trust them (Note i did not cheat.) and I know they knew the whole time after i found about me having it they i they had it and i got it from them. So really nowadays all of that staying with one partner is bullshit because the one that your ONLY with may be that one that has HIV/AIDS! All I can do as a victim is just pray to God to help me stay healty and look as good as i do. May God bless all Victims of HIV/AIDS including myself.

  21. BENEVoL3NT

Well, I think the statistics are wrong. Think about it ——> Whites usually have their own private doctors…and I believe it sometimes go undetected to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Blacks or people of color…don’t make/have money like that to have our own private doctors…so when people of color go to the hospital or clinic…they [ the hospital] are suppose to register your file with the DHHS and your HIV/AIDS status. From working at the DHHS, I know for a fact that Whites are ablel to purchase the medication needed; blacks cant always do the same and need medical assistance through the government…which is always reported.

Having said all that….yeah people wrap it up!
    -Gee

  22. BENEVoL3NT

I must say @ 21 —–> You are correct when you say “staying with one person” is not key. That one person you are committed to could be the one to be cheating on you. So yes, its best for both you and your partner to get tested. I did…

  23. BENEVoL3NT

    Dammit….I meant to say @ 20 …:)

Dayum. All the comments on this post have been informative and insightful. Which is a shock. With that said, I agree, abstinence is the key.

  28. LALA

Why are there only around 26 posts about this matter. Wake up people this ish is very real! The sad thing is most African Americans stay in the clubs from week to week , party to party…doing everybody and have no clue if the other partner is free from aids or any other illness. This foolishness has got to stop and it begins with each and every one of us. Peace and blessings.

  29. Kyla

    Abstain.
I’m not even going to say “wrap it up” ..

I don’t think I know of anyone who has AIDS (even though who would really say they have HIV/AIDS) but I do know of a lotttttt of girls who are pregnant right now – who are 15/16/17 .. it’s ridiculousss.

I’m waiting until marriage .. I’m 18 so it’s hard with my “age group” .. young guys are ridiculous.

In the midst of World AIDS Day and plugging the use of condoms, monogamy, and DL men (because people are so naîve to believe thats the only/main cause) lets not forget to educate others about the rapid spread of the infection through shared needles and drug use.

  35. wepofknb

i agree – dont use sex as you passtime.

this phrase is so right whoever said it above – do you really have to have sex ?

of course if you are married or in a long term relationship (and i dont mean half a year), otherwise there are more ways to entertain yourself like theatres, museums, sport activities, travel activities (if not abroad, than just around your state), read a book, etc.

stop using this – we are humans – we must have sex. no you must sleep, piss, eat but sex is a different matter.

and i say this not for the black community sake, but just for the moral sake as well cos people are completely losing values nowadays

  36. sigh

I really don’t think that abstinence is the key. Afterall our race is already a dying breed as commentor # 7 has pointed out, I think black men and women need to be more sexually responsible. In order to obliterate this issue we, as black people, need to take a more traditional approach. STOP WHORING AROUND! No premarital sex, maintain commited relationships, and STOP having multiple partners. That way, we won’t need to routinely be checked for HIV/Aids or any other STD’s.

  37. A&E girl

there are more black youth with AIDS than all other racial and ethnic groups combined.

^^ that fact is JAW-DROPPING! wow!
I feel so proud and safe to still be a virgin. you honestly DON’T have to sex to live life and it’s not that hard to abstain from it.

@31, you can’t be serious! no such thing as AIDS? It’s a viral infection and viral infections can’t be cured. You can get anti-biotics to reduce it but it’s sure to come back. AIDS is for sure the worst STI to have because the virus attacks your immune system- the very thing that protects you from illnesses. So yes, AIDS is very real, no illusions buddy!

  38. Anonymous

I totally agree with post# 20. Having one partner does not guarantee you will be disease free. I waited until I was 26 years old, was using protection in the beginning. After a couple of months with this one person, I stopped using protection (dumb ass move) and I contracted an STD. It wasn’t HIV but it def woke my behind up. Even waiting until you are married doesn’t guarantee ish. There are so many down-low men, and cheating women, whose partners are oblivious.
Another major factor is HIV is rampant in prisons. There are no condoms handed out in jail, and a lot of men contract HIV, come out of jail and resume having sex with women.
People wake up, strap up, get tested, respect and love your self!!!

  39. LULU

@ 1 I soooooooooooooooooooo wouldn’t be surprised. The amount of money they are making off of meds, etc. is RIDICULOUS.

I’m scared though about the ‘undetected [viral loads]‘ language they have been using as of late with the medications that can do this. One can get the idea that they may be ‘cured’ but still have the disease, as if it’s not there anymore.

I’m also worried that all the emphasis they put on HIV within the [Black] gay community may make them less susceptible to be treated and tested for everything out there STD wise. Syphillis is on the rise among men and women. I’ve seen too many gay men come into the clinic I volunteer at just concerned with making sure that is in check and only that, like it’s all they have to worry about.

@32 I agree, but I think there is a minority of people just looking to have sex just because. You don’t have to have sex, but we all get sexually attracted and aroused. It’s not so much about denying yourself, just more about respecting yourself and being selective about who you choose to with. Condoms may stop the spread of HIV and bacterial STDs stemming from transmission of fluids, but they don’t stop herpes, HPV, crabs, etc. Be smart!

  40. Mikki

It’s very important everyone gets tested!!!!

  41. darklove

correction to A&E girl, you cannot use antibiotics for viral infections. bacteria and viruses are two separate microorganisms and at #1, i honestly dont think that there is a cure for HIV yet because it is really hard to find a cure for it due to ‘genetic variability’ – that is, the virus is able to produce so many strains in as little as 24hrs. and this is in 1 person. what more millions? thus in the end, you are not finding a cure for 1 strain but for literally hundreds and we are talking gazillions if you are talking about making a cure for the masses because the range of mutations which result is incredibly vast.
the key is abstinence and protecting yourself and most importantly, getting tested and knowing your status…and please get tested periodically because some people might be HIV negative when really its just the virus is latent.so there…sorry for the science lesson but as a Medical Biochemist, just had to correct some misconceptions :)

  42. lilkunta

Yes yes yes! Have sex when you’re ready, dont be forec/co erced.
    ALWAYS USE A CONDOM.
    Get tested!

Not trying to be too preachy….I mean, to each his own, and different strokes for different folks (pun intended), BUT, I believe that having sexual intercourse as a casual past time is a mockery of the sacredness and sanctity of marriage. When a man and woman solidify vows before God, they become one flesh, and only then should they seek to share their bodies in the most intimate way…we should use our heads, and be patient. There are reactions and consequences to every action, as fun and okay as it may be…

for healthy diets, avoid fried foods at all costs. don’t eat can foods (preservatives). eat fresh foods (fruits and vegetables). for protein, eat tofu. there are so many substitutes in the market and you won’t find it in big chain supermarkets. try natural food stores. I recommend reading “You are what you eat” by Dr. Gillian.

  49. JUDAH

“AIDS Day” is another hustle and ruse that the elite are running on the masses of the world, particularly the non-white contingent and it works like a charm. “Abstinence” is no more a realistic solution to the “AIDS epidemic” than starvation is a solution to solving a weight problem. The key to successfully promoting any agenda is to work on the minds of the people so once the powers that be establish doctrines like “feminism”, “the h*mosexual movement”, and “gender equality”, it encourages the sexes to distrust one another (particularly the woman not trusting the man). From there, you can move on to phase two, which is a sexually based epidemic to reinforce that distrust. The fact of the matter is that sexually transmitted diseases are propagated initially by the whoredom of the woman, not the man, for the simple fact that in a society that is orderly, the first man that a woman sleeps with is her husband for life. So even if a man has 50 wives (which most Eastern cultures practice), no sexually transmitted diseases can be spread….so this nonsense about the black man “sleeping around” and giving black women AIDS is exactly that….as if to imply that the black woman is chaste lmao. This is also how one knows that in eastern cultures where the order of marriage and the roles of man and woman are respected, if AIDS is a serious epidemic, the hand of powers that be are involved.

The overall point for the elite is population control, and it’s worked like a charm based on a few of the black women that seem to think that they’re dropping knowledge by preaching “abstinence”. The black man is not your enemy. In his diminished state; he is not intelligent or diabolical enough to be anyone’s enemy lol, nor is he the primary entity spreading AIDS. The black man has been totally destroyed mentally, spiritually, and physically, while the black woman is a pawn to be used by the elite to maintain his simplicity. The powers that be are spreading the AIDS to blacks in a myriad of ways, including biological weaponry like the “micro-bioinoculator”. Germ warfare against blacks has been government policy throughout the history of America, but particularly since WWII, when the U.S. government brought the Nazi scientists over to America in what was known as “Operation RatRun” or “Operation Paperclip”.

The white man knows that he cannot produce at the rate of the other races, so he has concocted a method to lower the earth’s population called “eugenics”. This is why all the white celebrities, and many of the black celebrities, pretend to be so interested in the “plight of Africa”. They are agents, and groups that pretend to be giving “foreign aid” to Africa are actually giving them foreign AIDS. Africa and the Africans are the testing grounds for many of the white man’s laboratory concocted diseases, AIDS being one of them. It allows him to tarnish the image of the darker skinned races by attributing the genesis of all diseases to them, while he plays the benevolent doctor trying to find a cure lol. Nothing can be further from the truth. Most of the sexually transmitted diseases of the world came to be through the white man having sex with animals in the caves of the Caucasus Mts. This is why he decimated the Native Americans upon first contact, as they had no anti-bodies to stand against those plagues. To this day, it is common for caucasians to have intercourse with their dogs, cat, and other pets. This is why they form these ridiculous “animal rights groups”. AIDS was invented by a doctor named Robert Gallo based on the combination of cat and monkey RNA. The intent was to spread it through the blacks, hispanics, and h*mosexuals here in America, and the other colored races throughout the world. In over 25 years since AIDS has been on the forefront, and there is no cure? There must have been almost a trillion dollars raised by now. I wonder who is pocketing all that money?

  50. Stayin Aware

I’ve enjoyed all the comments i’ve read on this so far. This is a very real issue and the more we ignore it the more we are at risk! I’m also grateful for the people speaking on abstinence…that’s the only way you are 100% safe. HIV and AIDS are real…and viruses such as HIV that have high rates of mutation are hard to make vaccines for, so there is no need to wait for a cure, because it will take a long time to get one…we need to be on guard and prevent it NOW!

  51. H-Town Chic***

omg i’m so afraid of this disease, it’s my bigger fear. We have this result mostly with african population. Trust me, i’m congolese and when i went to congo this summer, i was really disturbed because a lot of children were hiv-positive by birth. I know that it isn’t happen just in Africa but in my continent, in OUR continent, it’s in another level. This is why black folks are the most touched plus others diseases….I can’t believe that there is no cure i mean this virus ,influenza A (H1N1) came this year and they already found a cure hmmmmmmm ok . They are doing research for a AIDS cure since what? prehistory??? damn .it takes so long.
I don’t know, maybe im a fool but anybody thinks like me? it’s not normal. They said that Africa is the root of this disease, i didn’t ever seen the proof….So this is why they want us to die because we are the root???? wtf i”m becoming paranoiac with all that but i really think that we only know what they want us to know. This world disgust me ….. Oh lord if you knew what the human being done to what you gave to him………..Please people, pay attention if we don’t want to be 100 black people in the world in a few years…….

This is sad…. about us and this virus. But look @ the media, it’s pretty much telling us Black youngters to go out and have sex. Just take a look at the music aimed at us… listen to the lyrics… Birthday sex.. no 1, the best.
theres always a msg that is way to huge to ignore. that we need to go from the club to a strangers home to commit sin, that is what it is seriously! And with a major pop song out there uplifting a sinful lifestyle as the new in, what are the teenagers going to do? smh!. Then the alcohol msg that goes hand in hand with sex. How many songs out there are glorying (underage) drinking? They might as well give us guns to shoot ourselves it would be a lot quiker and less painful then a life of being positive you guys. I take my hat of to every individual who has tested positive and still has the courage to live. I do not know how you do it but God bless you!
This is alarming, but what would be more is if anyone here went out there and got this virus, after being on this blog! Lord give us strengh!

Someone asked a question about Planned Parenthood, it’s founder and it’s goal to curb the Black population.
Planned Parenthood was founded by Margaret Sanger. The following are quotes and her beliefs
    On blacks, immigrants and indigents:
“…human weeds,’ ‘reckless breeders,’ ‘spawning… human beings who never should have been born.” Margaret Sanger, Pivot of Civilization, referring to immigrants and poor people.

    On sterilization & racial purification:
Sanger believed that, for the purpose of racial “purification,” couples should be rewarded who chose sterilization. Birth Control in America, The Career of Margaret Sanger, by David Kennedy, p. 117, quoting a 1923 Sanger speech.

On the right of married couples to bear children:
Couples should be required to submit applications to have a child, she wrote in her “Plan for Peace.” Birth Control Review, April 1932

On the purpose of birth control:
The purpose in promoting birth control was “to create a race of thoroughbreds,” she wrote in the Birth Control Review, Nov. 1921 (p. 2)

On the rights of the handicapped and mentally ill, and racial minorities:
“More children from the fit, less from the unfit — that is the chief aim of birth control.” Birth Control Review, May 1919, p. 12

in a letter written to Clarence J. Gamble, M.D., in which she wrote that “we don’t want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population. . . .”
    To be continued

    More quotes
“The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.” Margaret Sanger, Women and the New Race (Eugenics Publ. Co., 1920, 1923)
    On adultery:
A woman’s physical satisfaction was more important than any marriage vow, Sanger believed. Birth Control in America, p. 11

    On marital sex:
“The marriage bed is the most degenerating influence in the social order,”
The original board members of Planned Parenthood were followers of Eugenics.

    Planned Parenthood today

“We are not going to be an organization promoting celibacy or chastity.”
Faye Wattleton, President, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Los Angeles Times, Oct. 17, 1986

“The question of whether or not to sell ourselves to men is a false one: The real question is how to sell ourselves in the way that is least destructive to ourselves and our sisters. Prostitutes don’t need our condescension. What they need is our alliance. And we need theirs.”

How planned Parenthood has decimated the Black community

Dr. Lena Levine in 1953, concerning Planned Parenthood’s purpose and planned course of action: “… to be ready as educators and parents to help young people obtain sex satisfaction before marriage.

Dr. Warren Hern refers to human pregnancy as “an episodic, moderately extended chronic condition … May be defined as an illness … Treated by evacuation of the uterine contents…”(“Is Pregnancy Really Normal?” Family Planning Perspective, Planned Parenthood, vol. 3, No. 1, Jan. 1971, pg. 9)

“Planned Parenthood has never ceased to target the poor and disabled, Sanger’s favorite examples of the so-called “unfit.” In the year 2000, almost 75% of PPFA clients had incomes at or below 150% of the poverty line. In 1997, PPFA’s Plan of Action asserted that its “core clients” are “young women, low-income women, and women of color.” Accordingly, although African-American women tend to be more pro-life than white women, they nonetheless have abortions at triple the rate of white women.”

Have you noticed most of these Planned Parenthood Center tend to belocated in or near urban centers….Black folk!
