I really dig Alex but I remember when she won the X Factor last year she was doing so many interviews saying how she wants to go down the soul/ R&B route. A year later she comes out with BAD BOYS and her pop- filled album, saying that her and Simon decided it was best she did pop.
WTF? If I remember correctly, soul/R&B were the type of songs on X Factor that allowed her to shine and we loved her for it. I really dislike this pop route she’s going down. It does absolutely nothing to show off her voice. I hope she switches this up for her next album and this won’t be representative of her future sound. Plus if she wants to make it BIG outside of the UK they’re going to want a lot more than this.
And another thing, Beyonce has helped since she won the X Factor, so with the backing of Beyonce she really should be going hard. I like the video and the song is cool but I want something HOT. I want those days when she belted out R&B songs like at her audition and live shows when she sang those classic Mariah, Toni and Whitney songs. Now all I’m getting is bubblegum pop which gets boring after a while.

@ #10- I don’t think Leona was R&B before. I see her as more so pop ballads. She herself hardly switches it up, except for Forgive Me. I was Leona’s biggest fan when she won the X Factor but damn they are making these stars so boring now. Leona and Alex both have AMAZING voices and the songs they are being given aren’t doing anything for them. For one Alex needs to be able to do some R&B and ballads, and Leona needs some uptempo pop songs like Alex.
Looking at the chart positions of Leona’s recent album just shows Simon needs to do better with them both. They may be a success in the UK, but we all know they got worldwide potential. It’s a mess.
