The long-awaited (and long-delayed) rock-influenced album from Lil Wayne has been pushed back yet again to Feb. 1, around the time that he’ll be sentenced for attempted gun possession charges. Rebirth, the follow-up to the triple platinum Tha Carter III was initially set to be released April 7th of this year, but Wayne’s label hasn’t found a hit with any of the tracks that have leaked.

Wayne has stated that Tha Carter IV is scheduled to be released next year, but he didn’t want it to immediately follow Tha Carter III. It may have to, though, because it looks like Rebirth may never see the light of day.

After giving fans her new single, “♫ Acapella,” late last month, Kelis has announced that her fifth album, tentatively titled Flesh Tones will be released next spring.

“Originally I wanted to do something electro,” she told MTV News. “I kind of went through all these different phases of what I wanted it to be. In recording stuff, it kept changing. Finally it got to this really electronic, dance, really melodic vibe. Everything started to come in that space. I started to fall in love with it. It took a life unto itself. It wasn’t calculated. … All the stuff I fell in love with and stuff I was writing fell into that space. It’s sort of a new-age disco — futuristic disco.”

Kelis has recruited several producers to help with the upcoming project: “I worked with Boys Noize, Jean Baptiste, Diplo and Switch, Burnz, [and] this cat named Replay. I have a nice, eclectic group of guys there.”
