WHITE HOUSE: PRESIDENT OBAMA VISITS BOYS & GIRLS CLUB + RESPONDS TO BLACK CRITICS

President Barack Obama took time out of his busy schedule to read the Polar Express to children at the Boys and Girls Club of Washington on Monday (Dec. 21).

In an interview with April Ryan of American Urban Radio Networks on Monday, the President responded to black critics who say he hasn’t done much for Black America:

“The only thing I cannot do is, by law, I cannot pass laws that say ‘I’m just helping black folks.’ I’m the president of the entire United States. What I can do is make sure that I am passing laws that help all people, particularly those who are most vulnerable and most in need. That in turn is going to help lift up the African-American community.”

The President said on Tuesday that his annual Hawaiian vacation will not begin this year until the Senate passes the health care bill:

“I will not leave until my friends in the Senate have completed their work. My attitude is that if they’re making these sacrifices to provide health care to all Americans then the least I can do is be around to provide them any encouragement and last-minute help where necessary. That’s the deal.”

First of all how do you know all these people on here that are making comments are black can you see them. Second Obama is not God. Third its all politics he’s doing what he can in the beat goes on. No one is asking Obama to part the red sea. IF PEOPLE CAN’T STAND THE HEAT GET THE f OUT THE KITCHEN.
    ============================================
Linda, I don’t know, but since CL is technically a black oriented blog, let’s just assume the majority of posters are black. Some posters might be white or others, or maybe just posing as black. I don’t know, but either way, I stick by what I say. I never said Obama was God. No one is asking Obama to part the Red Sea? Surely you are joking. Just go visit some other non-black blogs. They are requiring more from him than we (black) are.

All I’m trying to do is get some black folks to wake up and open their eyes, and stop be disillusioned by the sweet tasting Kool-Aid.

Let me tell ya, I’ll be stepping out the kitchen in 2012, and I guarantee you, there will be a lot of people right behind me (and I’m not just talking about whites).

Okay, I wrote my last post before being able to read your last post, #57.

Sassyt, I can’t speak for everyone else, but I don’t look to any politician to change my world. If they do, great but the most I hope for is that they don’t f*ck it up too bad lol. I didn’t vote for Obama simply because he’s black or to make a positive change because I’m black. I voted for him because I liked the way he danced on Ellen and he seemed like an intelligent guy that thought things through, kept his head on straight, and, at least, pretended to give a damn better than the other candidates. I never expected him to keep his promises because most of them don’t. I actually don’t expect much from him at all, and that’s not because he’s Obama that’s because he’s the President of the United States. So, nope I haven’t asked anything of him in particular because I don’t expect much of him. Now, from what I read, you labeled that as self loathing but I call that self-dependence.

To follow your logic, how can I expect Obama to decrease the black on black crime in america when black people are killing each other or make our schools better/ provide better education for black kids when, technically, there aren’t any black schools and opportunities for better education do exist. How can I ask him to increase our employment rate/decrease our unemployment rate when there is already affirmative action and he has no direct control over the businesses? Should he pass a law that makes it illegal to fire a black person before a certain amount of time when a shitload of people are losing their jobs in this economy? Can he pass a law to get rid of racism? Can he pass laws are put forth some type of program that improves the financial stability of black people in America? When Obama is no longer president and these problems still exist, who is next to blame? At this point, we don’t need help…we need change.

Obama was simply supposed to be that half-black man sitting in the supposed highest office of America that showed Black America it could be done…not how to do it, not to directly help us do it too, but that it could be done, which is huge for black people because we have always had to look at where we need to be and where we should be and somehow get there ourselves. Thus, I simply believe that regardless of having a “black” president we cannot lose the direction of our vision, which I think a large part of this generation has, unfortunately.

  3. TJ

Also, you stated no one else is complaining, but that’s not true. Every damn body is complaining about him, whites, blacks, gays, democrats, republicans, you lol. No, he’s not God so why does it seem like so many are expecting him to be.

  4. SassyT

TJ, thank you so much for your feedback. I thoroughly understand your point of view. I guess if you never expected anything from him, you can’t be disappointed.

I never thought Obama was God; however, I hoped against hope for change. I am sorely disappointed. I never thought Obama could single-handedly change the ills of our society and our community, but I at least expected him to address them and attempt to do something instead of admonishing us black folks like he’s readily done. He never calls to task the racists among us, yet addresses everyone else, but us. That’s what frustrates me to no end.

I appreciate your candor and hear what you are saying.

  5. SassyT

Oh no. I never meant to convey that no one else was complaining. Quit the contrary. I was telling Linda that if she things WE (blacks) are the only ones complaining, think again.

  6. the ONE

WHAT THE WOLVES IN SHEEP’S CLOTHING.
BLACK PEOPLE DON’T BE SO HARD ON YOURSELVES….THE WORLD IS AGAINST US AND DOESN’T WANT TO SEE US PROSPER. I’M A HARD WORKING CORPORATE PROFESSIONAL AND I BUST MY AZZ EVERYDAY….OUR COUNTERPARTS PLAY BY A DIFFERENT SET OF RULES. OBAMA ISN’T WORKING FOR US BUT WE DO HAVE A RIGHT TO EXPECT SUPPORT FROM OUR COUNTRY AND OUR GOVERNMENT…THEY CAN’T BE OUR SOLE SOURCE OF SUPPORT BUT THOSE OF US WHO HAVE EXPECTATIONS OF THEM ARE CORRECT – WE PAY TAXES AND WE SHOULD ACCEPT TO SEE RETURNS ON OUR CONTRIBUTIONS. SOMEONE ABOVE SAID WE NEED A VOICE – - – - WELL EVERY VOICE WE’VE EVER HAD HAS BEEN SHOT DOWN AND KILLED. THEY’VE FOUGHT HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF YEARS TO KEEP US FROM GAINING POWER. IT’S AN UNEVEN BATTLE OUT THERE. WE HAVE TO STICK TOGETHER AND WORK COLLABORATIVELY. DON’T KNOCK EACH OTHER DOWN BECAUSE WE GET KNOCKED DOWN ENOUGH FROM THE OTHER SIDE.
IF YOU SEE A BROTHER/SISTER DOING WRONG….DON’T KNOCK THEM….HELP THEM…LEND THEM A HAND. WHEN THE OTHER SIDE SEE’S ONE OF YOUR BROTHERS/SISTERS DOING BAD…THEY SEE U. WE’RE ALL “BLACK AND IGNORANT” TO THEM. THEY DON’T DISTINQUISH BETWEEN THE EDUCATED AND NON-EDUCATED….ALL THEY SEE IS COLOR.
WE HAVE TO COME TOGETHER. OBAMA IS ONE OF THEM…NOT ONE OF US

  7. SassyT

@#64-The One. You’re post was right on. Some of these posts today are very scary. It’s an indicator of the mental health of many of our people. Many of us are so full of self-hatred that you really wonder if they haven’t been done a major deal by the white racists among us. I mean one poster talking about “black people are so ignorant.” Now maybe that person wasn’t black, but if he/she is, they need deep psychological help because they’ve taken on the language of our enemy – the white supremacist. It’s quite frightening if you ask me.

  8. TJ

I’ve enjoyed conversing with you SassyT, and I definitely understand your point of view as well. Also, one of my comments is in moderation. If it posts don’t take offense it. I wrote it before reading more of your posts.

  9. TJ

    P.S.

I understand being disillusioned with Obama about not calling the racist crap out because there are still a lot of racists, and there’s a lot of opportunities denied to black people because of undercover racism, basically trying to and sometimes succeeding in holding black people down, but it’s so tricky bringing race up these days. It’s like if it’s not overt racism and you bring race into it…you’re the psycho person playing the race card…you foolish foolish negra. I hate how race has seemingly become a burden to white people, and quite a few make it seem like you’re crazy or in the wrong for EVER bringing race into it.

I’ll give you an example, and this is just over the internet bs. I watch So You Tink You Can Dance and a guy named Russell won this year. The moment he found out he won he cried, hugged the other dancer, yelled proclamations of joy like YEAH and such, pulled of his shirt, and kneeled and gave praise to God. Now, I read a message board after he won, and some people called him an ungrateful, ghetto, a Neanderthal, and street puck. But when someone brings up race…those fools acted like it was absurd to assume anyone was saying those things because of Russell’s race and questioned whether anyone could make a negative statement about him without being accused of being a racists. Come on now lol.

So, a lot of them have changed the way they present racism. Therefore, I think we kind of have to change the way we approach it. And no, I’m not saying it’s always racism, but sometimes it is dammit.

Okay, I’m really through now lol. I suppose I could go on and on. I just want to say that one of the ways any black person can improve Black America is by improving yourself: obtaining knowledge, getting cultured, being a positive example, and just giving a damn in general and passing that down to your kids and relatives.

  10. befree1619

Black activist have ALWAYS complained about government polices and black folks. There is a long history of government programs and polices never quite “trickle down” down to non white communities. This is not brand new……

Just because Obama is half black doesn’t make any difference. People have raised the SAME concerns under Bush, Clinton, Kennedy, Hoover, Lincoln and every other president. The idea that some how black activists just started voicing their concerns about the president is plain wrong and historically incorrect. If there are going to be gov. training/ green jobs there are people who want to make sure the BLACK people have the same access to these jobs as any other American…if there are going to be government contracts for construction ( please note the construction industry is very racist) there are black folks who want to make sure we have access to these jobs as well. When Federal money is dispensed for projects there are black folks who work hard to make sure it all doesn’t end up in South Dakota!…but urban centers as well. No one has asked Obama to create “special laws” for black folks and he knows it. The truth is the easy part is passing the law the HARD work comes when you make sure EVERYONE is protected and has access to it! Black Activist have been doing that for years REGARDLESS who was president. Why should they stop now?

In fact it seems folks are asking black activist NOT to treat him like any other President..

  11. Bosstweety

WELL SAID!!!!!!!!!!!! @Networking #14. I see we don’t have a lot of opinions on this form but if it was talking about Chris Brown, Rihanna, or any other celebrity it would have over 100 comments.

  12. LadyA

    Can I ask a question?

Isn’t this President Obama’s FIRST year in office??? People are so critical off the bat and hasn’t given him time to tackle all issues. The issues were here WELL before Obama and will continue Well after Obama leaves the White House. I’m glad to see a Black President, but do I think anything would have been different with Palin or McCain? Come on now! You have to be realistic…Would these black “critics” (even some on this post) say this same MESS if Palin or McCain won??? No, you would have nothing to say and except life as it is, so please if you didn’t vote, shut up and if you don’t like Obama, you are entitled to your opinion. I never expected him to come and give us money and all new houses and rims for our cars. It’s sad that people still try to use LAZY as an excuse for their life.

  13. LadyA

Sorry, ACCEPT life as it is. Typing too fast. lol

  14. lita

liisten here donkeys you cant depend on the President to help us we have to help our selves i mean really jeez common sense!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Bosstweety

@ TJ good point of view: I just want to say that one of the ways any black person can improve Black America is by improving yourself: obtaining knowledge, getting cultured, being a positive example, and just giving a damn in general and passing that down to your kids and relatives.

I think we have to start with ourselves first!!!!

  16. Aries

Wow when I hear about this it really dissapoints me. Exactly what should he be doing specifically for black people? So he must pay special attention to just black people? to just the African American community? He is the president of the UNITED STATES not the NACCP. It his job to provide equality and laws for everyone, NOT just the people that look like him and his family. Come on people we need to wake up. If we are really finding fault in this man for not doing more for the black community than we are further away than we thought.

  17. Optimist

Most of you all are missing the point and even Obama knows. No one is asking him to create any special laws for Black people. I haven’t heard any Black politician or politician in general say that Obama needs to pass laws to assist Black people. Obama fronted during his whole election coming across as if he’d be the president to address social-economic issues and discrepancies when in actuality he’s he’s leading in the same way as his predecessors. Obama hasn’t done anything to help Main St-he’s only helped Wall St. Don’t u guys see this? He gave billions of dollars within weeks of his inauguration to the very people who put him in office. Did any of us even know him 2.5 – 3 years ago??? Black people are not lazy or ignorant-just a tad bit too gullible and trusting.

  18. T Truth

I haven’t heard of any black critics knock President Obama down, give me some names or black stations that have. He’s doing a lot and has done a lot for people in general this year, his FIRST year. Just the passing of this historical health bill (in which a lot o f people of non color do not want to see a black man pass) is proof that he is trying. Be patient, he’s trying, I beg of people to see past his skin color, see what he is representing. Truth. He is representing truth for the first time in a long time something that we have not been privileged to for the past decade.

  19. Rae

This is pretty sad. To realize that several members of the Black community voted for Obama solely because he is Black, just confirms everything the racist republicans believe. To think that people like me constantly deny the accusation that “Black people are only voting for Obama because he’s Black” while these ignorant critics confirm that accusation makes me extremely irritated.

But wait a minute, forget all the deep stuff, am I the only one that remembers that Obama is HALF WHITE AND WAS RAISED BY HIS WHITE MOTHER AND WHITE GRANDPARENTS!! Of course he is not ONLY going to look out for the Black community since he himself is not ONLY Black. He looks out for all people, and if I’m correct, that’s what he was hired to do.

  20. Zion

Here’s my question. Did any of you ask George Bush what he was going to do for black people, or any other white president or politician for that matter? This sort of backwards, “wait on the government” or a “politician thinking” has been fostered by white liberals who believe that blacks are not capable of achieving their own successes without the help of a white man or a politician for that matter. First of all, many of you continue to parrot what about black on black crime? Okay, lets review that. Have you attended a city hall meeting within your respective neighborhoods? (I can almost safely say that the answer is no). Have you and other concerned citizens gotten a rally together and demanded police protection from your local police chief, or this individual’s job would soon be on the line and any one else who supported this individual? Have you questioned the so-called progressives within your respective community who claim to have your back. I think that the black community should know by now that just because someone looks like you that does not mean that they have your best interest at heart (who steals from black communities first….it’s not Pres. Bush, nor is it Pres. Obama, but it is those same bozos that you continually vote for due to name recognition, a bribe, or cronyism). Stop being a victim. Pres. Obama owes YOU nothing.

Yes, shut those ignorant critics DOWN Mr. Pres!! I love my president!!

  23. Tami

Obama is right he is not Black America’s Saviour he’s the president of the entire United States of America he must cross all color boundaries. I wonder if black America would have their hands stretched out if John McCain got elected or Hilary Clinton?

@ Real Talk I agree with you who is the face of black America, who is going to stand for black rights?

@ Judah no disrespect but you called the islands a piece of shit. These are third world countries look at America that’s suppose to be a super power and still treat Black American’s like second rate citizens even though the country was built on the backs of black slaves. America holds so many ghettos look at New York and Detroit (primarily where blacks reside). Also you said what are west Indian values I would love to know what are black american values???? Oh wait there are none those have been dissolved since blacks were brought on slave ships to America. With crap like BET and Moray Povich (sp?) Black American’s are looked at as fools. Which is sad because judging by the comment here there are intelligent people who reside within America.

Point here we shouldn’t be fighting amongst our selves this is why black’s on a whole cannot reach anywhere. We should band together as a society to reconstruct better principles and values. As well we cannot rely on one man to fix these problems it starts in the home with better education, morals and ethics we instil in our children.

  24. circa-1984

I’m sorry…………..but JUDAH’s comment summed everything up. There is no need to read the rest of these essays. Nobody on this thread can refute what that brother wrote. Kudos and much respect.

  25. Question

I have a question for all the critics…. did any of your apply to be an adviser to the President? And for those in the “Talented Tenth” did any of you, campaign or do anything in your local government to make a change? The point is you must know how to play the game…. Yelling Dooms day to the masses is not going to get your point across. Plus nobody wants to here you yell about what’s wrong with America and what the man is not doing for black people. You must get the job done bit by bit, now in one epic swoop…. Get a life and go read a book to some of the kids in your title one schools, so they can learn to read rather than trying to play basketball and football. Change starts at home, let try to raise some scientist, doctors, engineers and start picking up the litter in our neighborhoods. We have the changes to make right in our own homes…. We need to stop showing up for toys for tots with bedroom shoes on and our hair sticking all over our heads…super early, but when its time to come to a parent teacher conference you are no where to be found!!!! Stop holding your hand out and do something for self. BTW even if we did get reparations for slavery, what are most of our people going to do with it? Go by rims, a new car, some gold teeth and some weave….none of that is going to help us get involved with the world market. There is no point in getting money and not knowing what to do with it….. How many are going start a family foundation or a college fund? HMMMM?!!! Obama is doing what he needs to do, now all the crabs in the bucket have something to say….GTFOH

  26. Question

    * typo* let’s try to raise some scientist, doctors, engineers and start picking up the litter in our neighborhoods.

  27. Zion

    @Judah
Certain blacks think that they’re dropping heavy science to be an Obama supporter and then subsquently say, “We have to help ourselves!”.
    —————
It must be heavy since the majority of these comments deal with not pursuing our personal interests. Okay, Judah, you made an excellent point about economic interests. Let me ask you….Where does economic interests begin? It begins at the local community level. How many blacks will spend money in their own community? In the Jewish community, the dollar circulates at least 13 times which equates to wealth. In the black community, the dollar may circulate once, and that’s a huge maybe. How many blacks will attempt to own their own businesses instead of working for others? How many blacks will vote their interests at the local level which will eventually sweep upward to the federal? What have we done to move ourselves from consumers to producers? These are issues that will be with us no matter who the president is, the question is will we continue to assume that the person we voted for should be our salvation?

    THANK YOU TAMI!

&& I don’t understand why black ppl expected any special treatment from the man. Obama never campaigned as any sort of black savior. So I don’t get how some deluded themselves to think otherwise.

“There is not a liberal America and a conservative America – there is the United States of America. There is not a black America and a white America and latino America and asian America – there’s the United States of America.” – BARACK OBAMA

I’m going to need more educated people like JUDAH to comment on this topic. Some of these posts are truly sad. And to whoever said Black people are ignorant…well, I guess you are exhibit A.

It’s funny how people can read and not comprehend. Who in h-e-double hockey sticks said that they (blacks) wanted special treatment. You tell that to the corporations, lobbyists, other racial groups, and special interest groups, i.e. gays/lesbians, women, etc.

If you really believe that last paragraph from the president, you, too, my dear, are delusional. You tell me when the world has ever been like that. It hasn’t and won’t be. SMH at the pure logic of some people.

You know, you can shout this from the mountaintop, and the Obama stans will continue to spout the same nonsense. They just don’t get it. They never have and never will. They still keep saying that blacks want special treatment. No one said that. They can’t get that throught their skulls. It’s a waste of breath to even debate with the Kool-Aid drinkers because they are blinded by their undying love for President Obama.

  33. Zion

The presidency is a macro-level position (INCLUDES EVERYBODY). The problems that blacks are facing are at a micro-level. I have yet to hear one individual respond to how blacks will not be dependent on a politician.

  34. Jody

Obama is full of it. He treats black folks with reckless disregard and some of you are too stupid to see it. Even Nixon paid more respect to black interests.

  35. Black America needs to wake up

Black people in America are ignorant, ungrateful and lazy. I live in Nigeria, a country in West Africa. Let me tell you right now, for free, the most successful communities in Nigeria are Lebanese, Indian and white folk. The Nigerians have no love for one another. I grew up in England and moved to Nigeria in 2006. I was shocked to find out how much Nigerians love white folk and anything and anyone foreign. They do not love one another. Now that I live in my own country I understand how slavery began. The average Nigerian will sell you for a dime. No joke. People will rip you off, kill you and your family, rob you at gun point for money and fame. There are a 140 million Nigerians in this country and let me tell, less than 1 million of those people have money to live on and feed their families. Everyone else is on major hussle. Women here are third class citizens and treated like prostitutes or forced into prostitution. You have to sleep with your boss to get a job, get a promotion, get your salary. If you don’t sleep with him you’ll get sacked. Female students are forced to sleep with tutors otherwise he’ll fail you and you won’t graduate. You have to bribe for everything. This is the worst society in the world.

  36. CollegeStartersdotcom

    Obama is such an inspiration.

  37. fififj123

@ 30 and 53, Agree! People like that make me so sick. Lazy people are such haters of people that work and dont take responsibility for their own problems. Lazy people have the nerve to be stuck up too, dont want to take a job because of low pay and instead dont wrk at all or dont want to take Marta or some bull like that. Always sitting around being covetous and jealous of people that enjoy their success/money from working and studying. Car jacking folk. Lazy folk are most likely to commit crimes because they always scheming on how they can get w/out working for it. And yall know the Princess and the Frog movie was talking about ya lazy bones on the slick. Hope you got the message! Cant stand lazy people!

  38. fififj123

@95, Not a suprise. Every black ran country is jacked up! Chopping up albinos, raping folk all day, spreading AIDs everywhere, thinking they can get rid of AIDS by raping a baby, cutting off clitorises, witchcraft, lying like a snake….on and on…and… on. They believe some crazy mess. Then you have those black folk here that love the streets like they worship it. The streets will get you killed and make you mispronounce words on purpose because you want to play dumb so you dont want to offend the Hood. I wish they would outlaw the HOOD. The hood has got to impact the healthcare system with all the killings, shootings, beatings going on in there. Know it goes on everywhere but no where near the level it does in the hood.

  39. Stewart

Very sad to read about Nigeria. Hmmm, sometimes a problem seems so huge there’s no hope, but when the welfare of so many lives are involved something should be done. Also, it’s not just black people in America that are ungrateful it’s people in general in America. However, I don’t think you should be worried about black people in America when you’re clearly living in a country with sever issues running rabid on a mass scale.

Aside from all of that, say Judah is right what does that mean? Obama and other presidents/politicians don’t care about black people. And? See, you’re stuck on that when you should be thinking about solutions. If someone wants to care about Obama so what. I suppose it leaves that person in the same place you are, which is caring about Obama whether it be how he doesn’t care about black people or how he does.

    Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

  40. Ms. RAYRAY

    WORDTOTHEWISE
Who said President Obama was to ignore everybody? The point some blind black people don’t see is that HE’S IGNORED US AND WE ARE TOO MORONIC TO SEE THAT.

For the first time, I totally agree with Judah. He broke it down perfectly, but as usually, people only want to see what they want to see; hear what they want to hear; believe what they want to believe. Who care if we don’t make up a large portion of the population. Does that mean we should sit down, shut up and not say a word.

Boy, our race has changed since the 60s. If black people believed the way some of you do back then, their wouldn’t be a Civil Rights movement. Blacks have severely dropped the ball and they don’t even know it. Pitiful!
    ———————————————————————————–

No one is perfect including Obama. He has taken a position that is rigged with issues. An imbalanced socio-economic nation, a war that is causing more issues then are solving problems, and much more. And no I don’t agree with him continuing the war, but that is also something he said he would do even before people took to the streets happy that he won the election.

At the same time, there are Black people who are mad at him because he is not catering strictly to Black people. That is unfair. This is unfortunately the most disorganized group in America. Until we collectively come together and do things for ourself first, nothing any President does is going to matter because it wont last. Be open enough to see that. Even you mentioned that we are a non-cohesive group.

That does not mean sit back and just accept what is given to you and what is not given to you. That means work from both ends. Don’t sit on your behind and say I don’t like what’s going on and not pick up a book or listen to history from our elders, start your business, or get a job. That does not mean go talk about what you don’t like and then go play on your wii and not take care of your house. We have to do some work if we are going to demand things. Collectively put our hearts and money where our mouth is and then we can rightly say what needs to change. That is what has changed since the 60′s. The civil rights movement took more than one person.

  41. lamar

Obama addressed it properly, this why you cant give black people sh!t, cause they think the man is supposed to only do for them.. smh.. this aint a “n!gga” on the street.. this is the president of the “united states” … he’s not an “african” leader .. he’s not a “european” prince.. he’s just the “president” .. that title doesn’t cater to one race..

  42. Zion

Black folks must not understand the difference between federal, state, and local issues. The issues that most blacks are naming are LOCAL issues. Obama is suppose to address nation wide unemployment because he is federal. The idiots you keep voting in at the local level should find ways to stimulate the economy within their respective communities. Again, we will continue to find a black scapegoat just the way the white liberals have trained us instead of questioning those at our local levels. SAD.

  43. Ayanna

who are these black ppl who are critizing the president and what do they want or expect the president to do for the black community?

  44. Jenny

People in general needs to help themselves first. Improve your community, your family, your friends and yourself. Don’t blame our president.

And Obama has inherited Bush’s mess, so give our president some time before people start jumping at his throat again.

  45. THE REAL AYANNA

103 # @ fake Ayanna, What iz your fake ass doing for the black community besides coming on CL and stealing people `s names in order to make comments.YOUR A FUCKING IDIOT !

  46. SHAKA

President Obama that`s my man, but he said himself, all throughout the campaign trail, when he ran for office , for voters to speak out and hold him accountable if he does not live up to his campaign promises to create new jobs. Obama gave 700 billion dollars to rich Wall Street banks to bail them out, why can`t he give 1 billion dollars to a job training program to help all average americans. Why did`nt he tell the rich banks to help themselves and that he is not just a President for the rich but for all americans.,like he told these black critics.

  47. TRUTH HURTS

95 # Black America Needs To Wake Up ! Hey ! stop the lies and propaganda. Nigeria is far from the worst society, Nigerians are the most intelligent people on earth, in London , they are the most educated people ,have more college degrees than any other racial group. You must think that black people on Concrete Loop are stupid, because in America , Nigerians also are the most educated ethnic group in the states, the worst society on earth is China, the people don`t have individual freedom and you can be jailed or killed if you speak out against the government !

  48. HBQs has been REVAMPED!

I don’t why the media keeps making this a race issue e.g. digging up useless info like white people’s approval rating of Obama being low. They’ll say black people can’t play the race card, but they didn’t do this with Bush, Clinton, etc.

He’s the president for EVERY American. If any black person complains, ask them what THEY are doing for the black community besides moaning.

  49. Samantha

This Sonia itch need to take a pill. Black folks need to do more to help themselves. Its funny how so many of us complain about being poor, but that don’t stop them from having a bunch of babies they can’t feed then working blacks like myself must take care of them. Our young men need to stop killing each other and going to jail then maybe they can get a job. There are more than enough programs in the Washington Metro Area to train minority men a trade but them won’t attend or won’t get their GED or Diploma so they can attend. I see too many young men standing on the corner who are not trying to do anything for themselves. Sonia Obama can’t care more for black folks than they care for themselves we are and will always be our worst enemy.

  50. Samantha

    @MOMOMO yes you are ignorant.

  51. Samantha

@Estella everything you’ve said is true but at the end of the day it’s because we as a whole don’t do enough to build each other up. We spend so much time tearing each other down and destroying our neighborhoods. If you watch shows like American Gangsters black folks destroy their community selling drugs and killing each other. When white folks sell drug they keep the shit on the down low they aren’t spraying the community with bullets and killing innocent children. The schools are in a mess because no one is going to continue to put money in programs that people continue to destroy. You have to put something in the pot to expect to get something out of it. I attended Public Schools in Washington DC. I have a six figure salary without a college degree because I put in the work to show myself approved. I wanted to go to college but my mother had a heart attack my senior year in High School, but I did not let that stop me from making a life for myself. Stop making excuses if you want it bad enough you will work to get it. Not sell poison to your community and stand out on the corner and drink all day.
My life was tough but through my faith in God I know all things are possible if you apply yourself. You can’t lay up and have babies and go in and out of jail and expect someone to give you something. I know the first thing your going to say is that it’s not just black folks, but Black folks are the one’s i’m concerned with. We are at the bottom of the ladder looking up and pulling each other down. President Obama put in the work and now his is running this country. He was not rich or have a father to look up too. If you can’t look up to him as a example of excellence who can you look up to. He wasn’t rich and him and Michelle struggled to pay off school loans like everyone else. Get up off your azzes and do something for yourself.

  52. Samantha

@Judah wake up and smell the coffee. Look around your stupid behind and tell me in a day how many young girls do you see pushing a stroller with one or more kids? Go to the Prisons and see how many of our men are in and out of the system because they don’t want to do anything. Most of them will not go pass the 10th grade because they are too stupid to want to learn anything. You spend alot of time pretending your so enlightened but at the end of the day your a dummy faking intelligence and trying to blame someone else for your short comings. Yes we cheered when President Obama won because we come from a line of Slaves. White men has always said there would never be a black man in the white house. When you’ve walked the true path of life and lived in the school of hard knocks. When you’ve sharecropped and clean white folks houses to give your children a better life then you would be intelligent enough to understand the cheers. I guarantee your momma still make your bed in the morning.

  53. Samantha

@Danger the Jews get what they want because they get their azzes out every four to six years and vote. This shit has nothing to do with color of your skin, but if you can get me elected. At the end of the day the community that show a presence during the election years get courted during the off years. Who give a damn about a community that only vote when their azzes start getting laid off. To be a commodity we need to build a strong hold If all of us uniformly get out and vote without ceasing you will see more money being poured into the communities but because we are expendable they overlook us as a whole because they know we cannot be depended on. Poor people remain poor because they allow themselves to be overlooked. The Latin community has more of a standing on the political front then we do that is why they are growing at a faster rate than us. Please please please grow up and stop using the color of your skin as a reason for everything. Stop being disposable and show that you exist.

@beefree1619 The black caucus sat like a bump on a log during the whole 8 years of President Bush, Clinton,Sr Bush, and Reagan. Now that there’s a black president all of a sudden they care. I live in a communtiy where 50 to 75% of the black hold Clearances with the United States Gov. That is because they get off their behinds and learn something. The black caucus want a hand out. How many of them object to our woman laying up on the system dropping babies? How many of them have shown an interest in why our Young men are killing each other at astounding rates. Many of the members of the Black Caucus communities consist of the highest murder and pregnancy rates in the country. While they are running Obama down they need to ask what they have been doing most of them have been in the save office for three or more terms and nothing has gotten done. President Obama has been in office 1 year and they want to talk trash to him. They need to look at themselves in the mirror and see who the real failures are. @Estella everything you’ve said is true but at the end of the day it’s because we as a whole don’t do enough to build each other up. Most of them are sitting in the same seats reaping the benefits and doing nothing for the communities that elected them.

Somehow I have two posts in the one.

  57. JUDAH

    Tami

Yes, I did call the islands pieces of sh!t, and they are lol. Furthermore, I have no idea what the rest of your comment has to do with my comment. Nowhere did I mention “American black” values. “American black” values, “West Indian” values, “Haitian” values, “Hispanic” values, and “Native American” values are all the same, which is worship the white man. West Indians were brought on slave ships as well. Furthermore, most of you would still be climbing coconut trees if it were not for the sacrifices made by the black American. The West Indians on the islands have more gangs than here in America (brothers from the islands tell me this), and if they don’t watch Maury Povich, it’s because they can’t fit a tv in their shack. Again, what is your point? Black Americans are viewed as fools, because that ‘s what the majority of them are, as are the West Indians.

Do you even know what the term “West Indian” means? The term “Indian” comes from the Greco-Latin word “Indios” which means “savage”. Save all that “West Indian” values nonsense for someone else until you clean up your own islands and your currency is good for something other than toilet paper. Half you blacks from the islands are scared to go back to you island because you know you’ll be robbed and cut in half with a damn machete. Blacks are not going to “band together” to do a damn thing. It’s all lip service from you and many other blacks, predominately black women, who secretly worship this society and Obama because he’s non-threatening to white America. If most negroes had to really stand against the tenets of America and speak to a white man in a confrontational manner, you would defecate on your damn self. What will happen is what is already happening. America will systematically implode and this society, along with the other world powers, will destroy themselves.

The number one problem with the black community is that the black man is weak. He has been watered down by the white man and the black woman. He’s been tricked into believing that his woman has his best interests at heart, when they certainly do not. No other race has to be concerned with their women trying to act as if they can lead their people. The black man tolerates this nonsense and has lost the respect of the men and women of the other races, the respect of his own woman, and his own self-respect because of it.

    @Zion

Your comments usually have a modicum of intelligence, but on this one you seem to have very little grasp of what you’re talking about. No “leader” can “stimulate” the economy because they are not the ones that destroy the economy. The only people who have the power to “stimulate” the economy are the same people who have the power to cause inflation, that being the international bankers. Inflation is simply the overprinting of surplus fiat money. They cause inflation to provoke wars and societal upheavals. By the time the “economy” is an issue in your “community”, it is far too late. Asking your city councilman to help get your economy right is like asking the waterboy to score the game-winning touchdown. No disrespect, but you don’t know how the economy and money system works AT ALL.

    @Samantha

What does your comment have to do with my comment lmao? Black people come from a line of slaves? Is that what you teach your children? This is what I’m talking about when it comes to blacks in general and black women in particular. This is why the jails are packed and blacks are the leaders in ever negative statistic, due to idiots like you that know nothing but how to state your “opinion” and enhance the confusion of the black community. In regards to who makes my bed lmao; you need to, as well as cook for me, and wash my clothes, because you’re a slave by your own admission and that’s about all a slave n!gger woman is good for.

  58. itsjustme

Judah, you’ll probably never see this, but the comments you made aren’t any better than the people who said “black people are ignorant.” You just used a lot more words to say it. Your condescension shows that you obviously have some hatred toward the black race. If your goal is to actually make a change (and not just blast other people) then I suggest you find a much more effective way to do it.

  59. imnotthatstoopid

For the folks who say ‘we need to do for ourselves’ I don’t think any reasonable person would disagree.

But, let’s say, for example, I worked @ Burger King as a cook, I would expect that the manager would be in charged of certain things. Like scehdules, paychecks, shipments, etc. And-if I asked a question about those things, my manager wouldn’t say to me-’I'm the manager, figure it out for yourself. I don’t have time for that.’ He should have solutions to most, if not all of the questions I have.

Now, I won’t pretend that Obama is as efficient or skilled as a Burger King manager, however, he DOES have the same level of accountability-or @ least he should. When people ask questions of him, or what he ‘will do’ for their community-his response shouldn’t be as hostile as it was. I don’t think this man cares about our people @ all. He used SOME of us to get into office, and now our usefulness as a community has run its course.

  60. nicole

I’m black and I’m tired of hearing uneducated individuals say President Obama is not uplifting the black community. Him being in office uplifted me alone. We have a War going on and it is sad to hear selfish people be so concerned about their welfare. Self-accountability is absent in today’s world. As a person, I need to uplift myself and not depend on anyone else to do it. President Obama is not the end all be all.
