After releasing the last single from her debut album, In A Perfect World…, Keri Hilson has already begun in the studio for work on her sophomore album.
Keri has been back in the studio with those who help create the success of Perfect World, including Timbaland, Danjahandz, Polow Da Don, and now adding Kanye West to the list of heavyweights on the album, as well as Will.i.Am. Here’s what head of urban music at Interscope Records, DJ Mormile, had to say about Keri’s upcoming project:
“We’re just getting into this,” says Mormile.
“But we already have an idea of what we want to do. This album will continue the evolution of Keri, building off the hits ‘Knock You Down’ and ‘Turning Me On,’ which helped define her. This new album will be ‘Turning You On’ times 10.” [SOURCE]
She hopes to have her album out by May 31st of this year, with a single out no later than March. There have been hints that newcomer, Drake, who is also slated to put out a new album this year, will be a guest feature.
JAZMINE SULLIVAN PREPS NEW ALBUM
Jazmine Sullivan, who released her debut album, Fearless back in 2008 is back in the studio working on her sophomore album.
She worked with a flurry of producers on her last album, and this time around, Sullivan has tapped the likes of Ne-Yo, Los Da Mystro and Ryan Leslie. Interestingly enough, Jazmine toured with both last Ne-Yo and Ryan Leslie last year.
From the looks of things, this album will be just as well-rounded as the first.
Three tracks confirmed for the album are, “Blow,” the Prince-ode, “Vanity Six,” on which Jazmine chants, “Just play my favorite song, get my ’86 on/Don’t make me wait too long, just play my favorite song/I’ll get my Vanity Six on,” over drums and horns, as well as the reference, follow-up track to her hit “Bust Your Windows,” on the Ne-Yo-written, “You Get On My Nerves.”
I hate Keri Hilson but I must admit I cant wait to see what she comes out with. I know her music is gonna elevate…i can feel it.
I LOVED Keri’s First Album…I Think Some Of Her Songs Like “Alienated” And “Where Did He Go” Were A lot Better Than Her Singles..In My Opinion. But The Album Was Gooodddd! So I Cant Wait For The Second One =) And The Same Thing For Jazmine..I LOVE Her… =) Cant Wait!!!!
Keri already has Drake features on her album before she’s even recorded lol. She can’t makes hits on her own. l

lol at SXSW….thats so true. Between Keri and Ciara I dont know who has the must features. Every single from Ciara’s last 3 albums had features. Keri is a little better. They need to get like Beyonce and Rihanna, only use features when they compliment the song, like Kanye in Ego and Jeezy in Hard, not on every single.

Keri Hilson is nothing but a feature/collabo artist. She can’t stand by herself. All her songs of In a Perfect World ft someone except for slow dance. and the new song from akon and her suck!!!! It sounds like chimps screaming. She needs to step her game up if she wants to be recognized with this album.

I like Keri i think she is a beautiful woman but honestly at times i hate when people compare her to Ciara and then again at times I understand it…”continuing the evolution of keri” “turning me on times 10″, it’s like the same thing Ciara was doing with her first and second album when she was saying it’s going to be “goodies times 10″ and “continuing the evolution of herself and her music”. Interscope is trying to make Keri what Ciara use to be and it’s like that whole piece of what the Head Urban Music said just proved it!
And im so ready for Jaz next album!
But on another note it’s nothing wrong with having ppl featured on your singles it’s smart because your trying to market your album to a wide group of people to get sells when you look at Ciara over the past three album she mostly had features on singles except(And I, Promise, Like A Boy, My Love before it was cancelled) but she uses that instead of selling sex like Rihanna or Beyonce, Keri is like the same way. At times you see Keri or Ciara with a sexed up image but not constantly like Rihanna and Beyonce do all the time when was the last time you seen them do a video or live performance nearly fully clothed or only showing a limited amount of skin? It’s either have features or have a sexed up image all the time!

Both need to sit down IMO, but whatever. And Jazmine needs to stop a title called Vanity Six alone just sounds corny from someone who was born in ’87. Chile…I’m tired of Drake being the run to guest rapper because he is the flavor of the month (in response to Keri). Drake does not equal a hot song/hit. See Mary’s The One.

@MEME: Sit down, because when Beyonce first came out she had features too. Her first 2 singles featured Jay-Z & Sean Paul. Plus she already had the Destiny’s Child fanbase. I get so sick of Bey stans trying to compare. When Bey went solo she had already been in the game for a while with DC. It’s not like she started fresh out the gate like Keri, Rihanna, etc. So let’s not get it twisted. Keri’s first single “Energy” didn’t feature anyone. Give the girl some time to spread her wings.
I’m looking forward to hearing both Jazmine & Keri’s new albums. I really like both ladies and wish them nothing but success. I’m waiting on Brandy, Janet, & Tweet to come with their new albums too.I hope 2010 is a good year for music.

Keri seems to be trying to recreate songs that went #1 on her first album, but I hope she doesn’t fill up the new album with a whole bunch of BS. It gets redundant and old pretty quickly. Yeah Turning Me On was ok, but I prefer songs like Energy from her. Or at least something that shows growth and diversity. Looking forward to the album though.

I agree with #21 Goldenstripes. I prefer songs like Energy for Keri. I can see how she tried to come out as a pop artist but people wasnt buying it because everyone was expecting her to be a urban artist. I must admit I got totally turned off when she turned into Ciara out of no where. I kno its a struggling trying to find your image and market in this industry. I just hope she can cross over, becuz I dont want to hear turnin me on times 10
Why is it that when artists have a good first album they wanna create the SAME formula again and hire the same producers, writers and so forth. Why not pick some fresh producers and writers. Fans don’t always wanna hear the same sh*t every album…take note Keri. I actually liked a few songs off A Perfect World but I know homegirl can do better. It’s time to experiment Keri, don’t get stuck in the same old.
Can’t wait for Jazmine. I know she’ll bring it. Her voice alone is amazing.
