Nice song, on Akons part. Was not feeling Keri’s part at all . And why did they do her make up like that? Its soooooooooooo heavy, like what is she hiding? And it makes her look (or look like she’s trying to look) white. Smells like fail to me

  2. hd

I love the way the people blend in with the background in the beginning

  3. Mister.bee

    Yeah, I concur…for the first time I liked Akon’s
    voice over Keri’s. lol

  4. Nayomi

I like the video… I don’t think that any of the vocals blended that well BUT I still like the song. Makes me feel like dancing… It for a good so I support it…

And I must say love the colours, clothes and chor in the video.. It was really vibrant. Nice.

  5. why

I see you Akon trying to target the World Cup… I’m not even mad at that – but you should have gotten someone else instead of Keri Hilson. I don’t think that she made the impact you wanted to make with this one. Love the tribal paint and all that. A visually appealing video.

  6. AFRICAN QUEEN

YEP YEP REPRENT AFRICA………………………..EVERYTHING IN THE VIDEO IS PERFECT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRAVO AKON

  7. RANDOMLURKER

    J. Dakar,

I don’t know about it being a charity single for underpriviledged youth (did you just make that up?). From what I can tell, it’s more targeted towards the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

  8. one_systa

Love it! Anything done for the kids or for Africa is a win!

  9. Just Sayin'

you know, if Keri were a white woman wearing animal prints in an “Africa” themed video, a lot of people would be calling shenanigans.

  10. jump

    I strongly recommend ______ W e a l t h y F i s h * C o m ______ to you where I just found my wealthy boyfriend! You know it is a great place to meet wealthy men and beautiful women. What’s kind of relationship do you want?

  11. MOESHA

luv the video. cnt wait to go to south africa for the WORLD CUP

  12. gigi

    @ just sayin’
Agreed….is that outfit really necessary? smh
Africans do wear clothes that aren’t animal-prints

  13. KAI

APPLAUDABLE!! GOOD SONG. GREAT THAT ITS FOR CHARITY..NOT MANY STARS TAKE THESE ACTIONS INTO THEIR OWN HANDS

  14. KAI

YEAH TRUE IT IS VERY STEREOTYPICAL..NOT ALL AFRICAN SONG HAVE HEAVY DRUMS AND ANIMAL SOUNDING NOISES..ITS JUST REINFORCING THE IDEOLOGY THAT WESTERN SOCIETY HAVE OF AFRICA WHICH MAKES ME ANGRY. BUT IM JUST GOING TO LOOK PAST THAT AND FOCUS ON THE FACT THATS ITS FOR CHARITY AND ITS GOOD OF AKON AND KERRY TO HAVE DONE IT.

  15. FAB MELO

I `m feeling the video it shows some of the cultural parts of Africa and it`s for a good cause there is also a cameo of Didier Drogba who is the worlds greatest black soccer player , the video isn`t saying that all people in Africa wear animal skins, it is saying that some Africans do, and that is correct, because Africa has modern Africans who have cellphones ,computers and wear regular clothes, but it also has ancient Africans who are not modern and have never seen a cellphone and who still live in the bush and hunt animals and wear animal skins.

  16. stop complain people

But all you guys do is always complain? man!!! for once in your life just see the bright side of things and yo’ll be happier
the video is good, not stereotype at any kind of way, Africa does have different cultures and if you want to stand out you need to show what people don’t see frequently, just imagine if this video was about showing the city part of Africa with big buildings or youngsters in the club popping bottle? think about and enjoy

  17. Weekend_Love

I LOVE IT!!!!!!I love the art and the instruments. Finally something different i can’t complain.

  18. Mama Africa

Being from Africa, I can reassure you that having drums in the song is not reinforcing “any stereotypes”. If you go to the “villages” in Africa, during celebrations we gather around sing, bring the drums out and have a celebratory feast with neighbours & family. It’s beautiful, it’s uplifting…

    Let’s Unite,
    ~Mama Africa~!

  19. MELY

Now he’s repping Africa, sit down Akon with your dumb ass self!

  20. A&E girl(help Haiti!)

I like the song. He should get to sing at the World Cup that’s being held in south Africa this summer. It’s very appropriate.

Keri… she has to get on EVERYBODY’S song huh? It’s really random that she’s in the video. Akon should’ve used an African artist.

  21. asunkee

I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IITTTTT!
It sounds like it could be the world cup anthem.

@MELY He’s been repping Africa since day 1. Do your research or sit down with “YOUR dumb ass self!”

  22. jessica

@Mely, he is African, he is from Dakar, Senegal, learn your African roots, and he always rep Africa!!! I really don’t understand black people in the US, why you always don’t want to repesent that your part African, and I’m not talking about African- American, your ancestors- AFRICAN!!! SO IF AN ARTIST IS REPPING AFRICA, YOUR SAYING THE PERSON NEEDS TO SIT DOWN?? LITTLE GIRL LEARN YOUR DAMN ROOTS!!! AND BY THE WAY- I’M AFRICAN- GHANA BABY!!!

  23. ஜ¤ ÎŔŔêþläçêäßlê ¤ஜ

    @ Jessica
    Let them know!
    Great song!

  24. I see you aiming at my pedestal

Wow can’t even believe I like Akon’s singing on this. I usually hate his voice. I can give credit where it is due.

  25. MsknowitALL

Thanks Akon keep reppin us and keep those youths in your mind. Im happy you never forget your roots like many of the African Americans in the U.S. who forgot their ancestors were stolen from Africa and forced into slavery in the U.S. but now all of the sudden many of these African Americans now think they are white or something, i must say mental slavery is still alive and well..but i digress. Akon just like you i promise to do all within my power and bring Africa to the top i.e.’ improve it’s image, promote business, improve tourism, build first class medical facilities in the north, west, south and east Africa!. Yes it’s a big goal but, ” a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step!” i’m already taking majors steps! muaahhhhz, LOVE AFRICA.

  26. Holleywood

  30. backingbarack

Wack! Now all of a sudden people want to sing about Africa and African people? Keri Hilson looks like she is about to turn into a cat or cheetah or something. She is so corny!

  31. Analyst

Abit of an over-simplification of what Africa is about, but I enjoyed the melody and the heart of the song:)

  32. IT MAKES SENSE

whats with people and “NOW they sing about Africa…” bs? UM HI. but if your heads weren’t stuck up LADY GAGA’S GLITTERING ASS, you’d know Akon has BEEN singing about Africa…for INSTANCE, go look up his song “MAMA AFRICA”… I mean..how OBVIOUS can you get?! CLEARLY the song is about Africa..
