Monica is still working on promoting her forthcoming album, Still Standing, with her BET show of the same title. And it seems as though Monica’s search for a first single is finally over.
Still Standing will be led by the Missy Elliott-produced single, “Everything (To Me),” which contains a sample of the Deniece Williams classic, “Silly.”.
Monica’s often delayed album will finally hit stores March 1st.

Why did Monica have to use Silly of me sample for her song? I listen to Deneice Williams’ music on my mp3 player. I hope this does not ruin me listening to Silly of me on my mp3 player.
I only got couple of episodes but its nice to see a show without everyone being a HAM.
I hope Monica’s album does well. She’s not my favorite artist but she has been in the game for a long time.
Maybe all these reality show singers like Fantasia, Monica and Keishia should form a group like the fellas did with LSG and Blackstreet. You have to be a triple threat to make it as a solo artist…sing, dance and looks. Beyonce and Rihanna are one part singers, one part dancers, and one part eye candy. Okay, Rihanna is .005 dancer and singer, but she more than make up for it in the eye candy department. I hate to see great singer exposing their personal lives to the public.

It was nice. I hope they paid Deneice. cause she rules that song! Why didn’t she get a band together,, so they could create some original music for the song. Now the song is tied to another artist with an awesome voice. I like Monica, but bands aren’t extinct. Ask Maxwell and Sade.

I love the song I am really rooting for her this time around people really dissed the last album and I thought it was a pretey good album it deserved more. But why so much hate about using a sample of course Ms Williams is getting paid for the sample I think it pays great homage to the song & shows no disrespect so why the hate??? I like Monica, but I do question where she fits in. She’s too mature for the 106 and Park set so she really shouldn’t be on BET @ all. I think her best album was ‘The Boy Is Mine’ which was comprised of ballads and uptempo songs. I’m not crazy about this song…something is missing. I also don’t think she should come out the gate with a ballad….Good luck to her though. She has a great voice

I am in love with Monica right now. Ever since I heard her recording that Infinity song I been anxious for this album. I think I’m trying new things as a listener because I wasnt a huge Monica fan before. I don’t often get attracted by what I hear on the radio nowadays. But songs from this show definitely got my ear. I thought the first single was gonna be ‘Love All Over Me’ I loved what i heard of that song. All and all I like “Everything to Me’ I donno how it will do as the first single but I’m hoping it does well. I wish Monica the best and I can’t wait til the album hits stores.
I believe also that it wont be number 1 but I do believe it will be high on the charts then while it stays there she brings another banger like Tim said on the show… I did lose interest in Monica but I love the fact shes bringing back the old Monica again…love it

I have always loved Monica. I remember being a little girl and listening to her “Miss Thang” album..she is so talented and real! She is the BEST of these young singers…better than Keyshia, Fantasia can blow, but I prefer Mo.

The song is great. I have always loved her voice. Also she has the prettiest smile ever! However I do agree @ Leelee that she shouldn’t have attempted the high note Deneice Williams did on the original. Not too many people can hit notes like that.

I dont like it. Not radio friendly at all. Sounds like a church song…which is not a bad thing but this aint going no where. Flop before it even release. Kinda disappointed considering that I am on team Monica.
Its not your typical radio song…but look at Melanie Fiona….Monica go harder than any female out there. She has real talent and its not overshadowed by all the glits and glam and gimmicks. I like her on the reality show. And I like seeing her personal life, becuase she seems to be one of the realest people walking this earth. Wow, something abt her runs and melismas on this song, that reminds me of Whitney, although that is Monica’s vocal idol. I’ve never seen Monica go up in an upper register like this, other then “For You I Will”. I always thought Monica could blow. Of course you should know how to blow when Whitney is your idol.

When I saw the show, I was hoping she would use this song as her single. Her vocals are on point. I’m not too crazy about the high notes she tried to do similar to Denise Williams, but overall it’s a good song.
I love the tone in Monica’s voice. BTW if this song was produced and arranged by Monica then we can fault her for the runs adlibs and so on. Evidently Missy thought it should be sung this way or we would have a different song. This song def has Monica’s swagger on it. Lovin how she sung the second verse;)
I absolutely love the direction that Monica is taking. This song gives me chills right from the beginning. I agree that a live band (and taking out those high notes and adlibs at the end) would have made it a certified banger. They should re-do the end and do something else. Go Monica!!!

She might want to look for another first single. That wasn’t really an “I’m Back!” kind of track. It sound straight, just not sraight enough for a comeback single.

Right now is a tuff time in music…timing & “face time” are everything. Get your team in position to attack the charts with more than one single release, media blits, paps & photo ops, guest/charity appearances…TV, radio, commercials…

This is an update, a tune reminiscent of a song we all know and love. This tune will ultimately bring a comparison to Nicey on her signature song…Monica can’t win that one, but it will get people talkin’…and that’s a good thing

unfortunately i wish that ms. arnold would have been given an orginal song or ballad to perform instead of a sample of “silly of me”…..It lets you know that these “producers” that they call themselves are nothing more than beat makers and they cannot hold their own wait (original material) so they sample sample sample ie(whitney houstons million dollars) (swizz beats is always on a sample run ) it is unfortunate that this may or may not do good on the charts…. or in sales… but we will see. To you Ms. Arnold .. you are from Atlanta born and raised and you know that there are alot of unknow music producers out in that city who would love to give you great original material…. but you my friend have to excercise your power and allow those new musicians to have a chance. unless the music industry is full of crap and the labels are making you working with only certain producers…. then that is a whole other ball game ….. so word to the wise if you are still standing then take a stand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Monica has never done it for me. I always preferred Brandy’s voice and personality. Monica is so hood and ghetto. She is so extra, she should just do Gospel. She does not have what it takes to be #1 or a solo artist. She mind as well combine with Keyshia Cole or her other ghetto friends, Tiny and Toya, in a reality show because no one is checking for her and I am sure she thought the show would boost ratings and get her album sold but Lord, nothing she can do can help her wackness.
