Beyonce accepts the 2010 NRJ Music Award for Artist of the Decade from Pharrell Williams on Saturday in Cannes, France. Earlier this month, the superstar said she plans on taking a 6-month break to “just live life”.
MO’NIQUE WINS A SAG AWARD
Mo’Nique was another big winner this weekend after winning the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for Precious at the 16th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) in Los Angeles on Saturday.
In a People interview last month, she said, “I know Mary Jones. I know that monster – that character for me, in my life, was my older brother.” Her brother molested her four times over the course of four years. “When I confronted him and told my parents, he said I was lying, and nothing was really done,” she said.
Her brother later served 15 years in prison for sexually abusing another girl, and although he has never apologized to Mo’Nique, Precious helped her to forgive him:
“I’m angry. I’m mad. I’m hurt. I’m crying, but doing this movie made me say, ‘You know what? I forgive.’ I forgive and I wish he would get the help that he needs, so no one else will go through it. It’s my obligation to let people know, and to tell them to watch their children.”
Having won a number of awards already for the role, Mo’Nique is considered front-runner for the supporting actress Oscar. Nominees will be announced February 2.

I’m in no way, shape, or form, a Beyonce hater or Rihanna lover, but I am a truthful speaker. Beyonce shouldn’t have gotten Artist of the Decade because she hasn’t put forth a decade worth of work. When 2000 came in, she was still in Destiny’s Child until having gone solo and releasing material in May of 2003, just to reunite with her DC counterparts and release group material in November 2004. After the group disbanded in late 2005, she release her sophomore album in September 2006 and her third LP in November 2008. That’s absolutely not a decade worth of work. I believe Mariah received this award for the ’90s and it was well-deserved having had a number one single each year and album sales to match. For the most part, Beyonce swagga-jacked Shakira, Janet, among so many other female/male artists as well as rode on the Destiny’s Child magic carpet so if she’s the “artist of the decade”, then so are they. I’m just saying. The least she could’ve done was thank who got her where she is, but once again, she’s just proven how selfish she is.
Congratulations to Monique for her excellent performance in Precious.Hope she takes home the Oscar !

Why don’t you mentionned that rihanna won the internationa artist award? I thought that you have to post anything about all the successful black artists , I can’t imagine that rihana was banned from all black people sites in usa…I’m living in France and i recently visited the usa blogs because i love music from usa, and in France people private life does not affect their career, so in the usa blogs I see that it’s so hard to keep high level because of the hard competition, and that all barred. I just clicked the post because of Monique, but Beyonce… another reason for the HYPE. I really don’t understand why people act like she is such a great talent. It’s amazing what marketing and image can do to an artist. The only reason why she’s as famous as she is in the music biz is because she puts out singles like crazy when one isn’t doing so well, and continues to re release albums to make sure she gets a lot of album sales. Oh and not to forget the booty bouncing and long hair weave. It’s ridiculous.
Monique, she can be annoying at times, but it’s good to see her go from the urban channel UPN with the show “The Parkers” to receiving a Hollywood SAG Award. What a transformation? And she’s still representing blacks on BET? That’s wonderful that she hasn’t forgotten who she is.
Monique’s parents probably did nothing to stop the molestation because they may have been molesting her as well and she blocked out the memory of it. Not really a Beyonce fan, but I can say that she is deserving of this award. What other female artist can do it like her? Some may have a better voice, but cannot dance or perform to save their lives. Others may be able to dance better than her, but cannot carry a tune or hold a note. Congrats, good to see a black woman getting international recognition. Congratulations to MoNique as well, although I agree with the previous poster who said they are tired of black actors only getting recognition for negative roles.

OK Beyonce has smashed the game 10 years. The comments are low Because people are tired of her. People are moving on. The whole industry is boring and no one is working it out but Beyonce the machine. What other options do we have. Can we please get a new fabulous artist.
