Beyonce accepts the 2010 NRJ Music Award for Artist of the Decade from Pharrell Williams on Saturday in Cannes, France. Earlier this month, the superstar said she plans on taking a 6-month break to “just live life”.
MO’NIQUE WINS A SAG AWARD
Mo’Nique was another big winner this weekend after winning the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for Precious at the 16th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) in Los Angeles on Saturday.
In a People interview last month, she said, “I know Mary Jones. I know that monster – that character for me, in my life, was my older brother.” Her brother molested her four times over the course of four years. “When I confronted him and told my parents, he said I was lying, and nothing was really done,” she said.
Her brother later served 15 years in prison for sexually abusing another girl, and although he has never apologized to Mo’Nique, Precious helped her to forgive him:
“I’m angry. I’m mad. I’m hurt. I’m crying, but doing this movie made me say, ‘You know what? I forgive.’ I forgive and I wish he would get the help that he needs, so no one else will go through it. It’s my obligation to let people know, and to tell them to watch their children.”
Having won a number of awards already for the role, Mo’Nique is considered front-runner for the supporting actress Oscar. Nominees will be announced February 2.

Just another award financed by team Knowles. Britney should have won that, she’s the best-selling female artist of this decade (8th best of all time). Oh well. These award shows have become pretty meaningless as they keep pandering to the same artists.

Je viens de Suisse, j’ai fait la moitié de mes études universitaires en France, je sais très bien que NRJ est une radio très populaire. Mais qui dit “populaire”, dit “être pris au sérieux”? Je ne crois pas non ; surtout pas en musique. NRJ est LA radio des ados attardés et boutonneux (désolée du stéréotype, mais là il est juste) qui ne se préoccupe quasi que de la musique “poubelle”, éphémère (sauf quelques exceptions). Ce show perd en crédibilité tout simplement… Un peu comme les AMA et bientôt si ça continue, les Grammys.
Et ce n’est pas parce que mon artiste préférée n’a pas gagné que j’en fait toute histoire (en plus, j’aime bien qqs chansons de Rihanna), c’est parce que c’est pas mérité tout simplement (selon moi).

I think the award was actually Artist of the Generation. I may be wrong though. Well deserved. She did the most L’oreal lipstick commercials, filmed the most musicals, most ‘Good Morning America’ and ‘Today Show’ performances.
