  7. Weekend_Love

    This pics is on point

  8. FallBackHaters

It’s crazy that in 2010, magazines still do not put women of colour on the covers as regularly as they should.

  9. shawna

she ain’t black though….i’m sure if you ask her she’ll denie it herself

  10. Sammi Dee

Women of color don’t sell-especially in Europe.neither do Asians and the only Spanish girls that do, look white just like Giselle and Alessandra..oh wait they’re of German and Polish decent…forget what i said then. She looks really nice but don’t expect a repeat next month or year or 8.

  11. Smonty

“Smize” is a Tyra Banks thing. That isn’t a word in the industry. I think on ANTM she was trying to get them to have a presence in the pics…but Smize does work in pics.

@8: be it 2010 or 1910 the industry hasn’t changed with their idea of beauty. I am not sure if the blonde hair, blue idea will change anytime soon. While I think people in general see beauty in all kinds of people it doesn’t stop the “powers that be” from pumping this image. Guess they want that to never be challenge.

  12. kahlilg

this is isn’t the first issue with a model of color in 8 years. this is the first issue with a single girl girl cover using a model of color in 8 years.

  13. circa-1984

She looks like Ciara. I agree, Rose’s eyes look dead. The LV collar is hawt tho! I’m a little angered that a black model is featured on the cover with a dog collar, lol.

  14. Hell-2-tha-NAW!!!!!!

She looks like the rest of em. Im not impressed. To those who say she is NOT BLACK………………….then tell me what she is b/c she looks blk to me.

  15. RedbonegotthatKillBill

    Nice spread…she’s a looker,gorgeous eyes.

  16. Char

Some of the comments here are sooo IGNORANT.

  17. truthfullyspeaking

These photos are absolutely gorgeous and scream high fashion. She definitely has the proportions, awkwardness, and uniqueness that a TRUE high fashion model possesses, but I just researched this chick and she looks NOTHING LIKE THESE PHOTOS! It amazes how well graphic designers can airbrush/retouch photos. I see why people think that she’s bi or tri racial. Looking up her pics, you can clearly see that she is BLACK, not so much mixed. Just a few years ago there was an article that was talking about how the demand for black models has drastically decreased, and it’s gotten even worse today. And people wonder why black females are offended when these famous dark skinned men date these air headed or valley white women? WHITE or anything that can PASS for white seems to be the ideal woman, and it’s a shame.

  18. Truth

    SHE’S HISPANIC GOOGLE HER

dominican chick covering vogue! lets go! im not dominican but shes urban so thats gud lol… we need more of this in the industry

  21. Hell-2-tha-NAW!!!!!!

she is hispanic………………..but her race is BLACK!!! whocares, I am just glad 2 see some darker skinned folks on the cover of magazines. now, they need to give them more runway jobs. this world is still obsessed with “pale” “blue-eyed” females. how dreadful is that.

  22. Ebony Intuition

    Stunning.

  23. Romana

Good to see they didn’t straighten her nappy hair. It looks better that way. That she is Dominican is irrelevant as nationality is not a race.

  24. Rik

Check your facts naomi campbell was on the cover last year feb

  25. neon

@romana her dominican heritage is equally as important b/c it says a lot about her background and who she is. saying it’s not relevant would be implying that if she were to come to the US she’d fit in with black americans more than she would with a white hispanic b/c, to you, race trumps ethnicity but chances are she’d bond more with a fellow hispanic

@truthfullyspeaking how does one look mixed? mixed ppl come in all shades, have different features and hair textures. rose most likely has spanish heritage (question is, how far back?) so wouldn’t that make her mixed? either way, your logic (you saw other photos and she looked black therefore is not mixed) makes no sense

  26. Holleywood

Thanks J Dakar :) keep on doing what you do! :)

  27. coco

Yeeh! A Dominican chick getting some shine! As a fellow Dominicana I am so proud :)

She’s stunning. I thought she was Ethiopian at first.

  28. coco

    @romana

STFU. Of course her being Dominican is RELEVANT.

I’m sure you don’t get it but yes, I’m glad Concrete Loop identified her as Dominican.

  29. New girl in the block

thank you number 17 , rosa LOOKS NOTHING LIKE THAT they photoshopped the hell out of her . She is darker and her nose and cheekbones are different

  30. New girl in the block

Saying she is not black but Dominican is as ignorant as saying that Naomi Campbell isnt black but Jamaican. Do you get me?

The ignorant people on this post should turn their laptop off and pick up a book for real….

  31. circa-1984

    @ neon

But race does trump ethnicity. Especially in the U.S. besides we’re all black (African American etc) the only difference is that some blacks were dropped off (via slavery) in the islands, and some were dropped off in the U.S. I always hate it when an obviously black woman tries to make others see past the obvious and judge her by her ethnicity, almost if that makes them better than the average black person living in the U.S

  32. ashleightdot

who is saying that this girl isnt black? she is clearly black. she is a black girl from the dominican republic.

black people come from EVERYWHERE. we need to get off the nationality vs ethnicity bit and just be proud of one of our own doing something worthwhile…

  33. Luciana

I am American but my parents were born in Dominican Republic and they told me that they didn’t know they were black until they immigrated. In the old country the people called themselves every color under the rainbow but not the color they truly are. They thought that black meant Haitian. And no this woman would not fit more easily into the White Latino community because white Latinos do look their noses down on blacker people of Hispanic heritage. Anyone looking at Rose would just think she was a black woman that’s all, with her skin and hair and facial features. Some Dominicans need to get a clue and stop being stupid because they are not Spanish.

  34. StopDenyingYourRace

    From 21 and down,

I agree with u all. Black is Black regardless of your Nationality! Clearly this chic is black…not mixed and when u see other photos of her…………she looks NOTHING like how she does on this cover. Can u say air-brushed?

  35. What?

#30 Absolutely right! I looked ate the photo of keke Wyatt and she fits the notion of what a Hispanic looks like more that Rose and Zoe Saldana and KIK i has zero Hispanic heritage. Are people being judged by their nationality now? I don’t think so and I seriously doubt if Rose or Zoe have European Spanish heritage and aren’t mixed people, people with parents of different races?

  36. TELL THE TRUTH

to the idiot who says she is not black. YOU ARE AN IDIOT. GO READ A BOOK

  37. Constance

I checked out her pictures on the web and this picture like all model cover pictures was photoshopped. The cover made Rose lighter and they slenderized her nose quite a bit. When I saw how she really looks without all the make up and what not I thought she was a new African model on the scene.

  38. Wanda

CL described Rose as Dominican the same way they described leona , Corrine Bailey Rae and Naomi as British since that is their nationality. CL never mentions the race of the celeb’s since looking at them it’s obvious.

  39. I'm Still Standing (the real one)

Naomi Campbell is Jamaican? Fo real??

  40. Sammy Sosa

However, some Dominicans are clearly still ensnared by a mental form of slavery by worshipping the Spaniards who made them slaves for so long in the first place. They are to be pitied more than anything else.

  41. ILoveme2

Ok all racial stuff aside…her cheekbones are effing amazing!

  42. pr_star

OMG a spanish person on this site are u 4real i thought the only way a non black person can get on this site was if they were married to dated or heavily worked with someone in the black community amazing im rican but i will give props to this dominican beauty for being able to make it onto this site you go mami work show dat us latinas and latinos can do our thing too!

  43. xxx

I found a HOTTEST club —–” R i c h m e e t i n g.C o m”—– for black Women and white Men, or black Men and white Women, to interact with each other. Interracial is not a problem here, but a great merit to cherish!

  45. LMAO!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, Rose is a real Spanish person isn’t she. She looks just like a European, which is what Spanish people are. Rose looks just like Penelope Cruz doesn’t she? Even with the dark skin, nappy hair and Africanize facial features she is still Spanish!

  46. carib

wow, strange that dominicans and puerto ricans rarely refer to themselves as caribbean or west indian people, but they are quick to claim spain, calling themselves spanish. Strange strange strange. BTW latino, and latina is not a race . This girl is clearly black dominican a black caribbean girl, who happens to speak spanish.

  47. CASTRO

SLAVERY TRULY F**KED THESE PEOPLE UP IN THE HEAD.
